Karla, I've got a few long term platonic female friends that I have great respect for and I'd never want to jeopardise those friendships.

But if I'm being honest, if I had to share a bed with any of them, yeah I'd be hoping for some action. In truth, I think all blokes would - after all we supposedly think about sex every 6 seconds or something like that!

karla Posted on 13/01/2009 18:50

I think itīs kind of cute to bunk up in the same bed - like having a sleepover when youīre a kid.Itīs sweet and I think my bloke is making a big fuss over nothing.

When Harry met Sally explains it very well -

Harry Burns: You realize of course that we could never be friends.
Sally Albright: Why not?
Harry Burns: What I'm saying is - and this is not a come-on in any way, shape or form - is that men and women can't be friends because the sex part always gets in the way.
Sally Albright: That's not true. I have a number of men friends and there is no sex involved.
Harry Burns: No you don't.
Sally Albright: Yes I do.
Harry Burns: No you don't.
Sally Albright: Yes I do.
Harry Burns: You only think you do.
Sally Albright: You say I'm having sex with these men without my knowledge?
Harry Burns: No, what I'm saying is they all WANT to have sex with you.
Sally Albright: They do not.
Harry Burns: Do too.
Sally Albright: They do not.
Harry Burns: Do too.
Sally Albright: How do you know?
Harry Burns: Because no man can be friends with a woman that he finds attractive. He always wants to have sex with her.
Sally Albright: So, you're saying that a man can be friends with a woman he finds unattractive?
Harry Burns: No. You pretty much want to nail 'em too.

Very fair summing up.

karla... Something hasn't been established yet. Is your male friend that you are gonna be sharing a bed with gay?

...This is the only thing (other than him being a close blood relation or you both being of infant school age) that could remotely justify the situation you are gonna find yourself in. You're bloke is P***ed off because he's a bloke and he knows how blokes think.

Women think that they are just being friendly but ask yourself this. How many ugly women have loads of male platonic friends?

Answer none. Work it out.

Karla says love is based on trust.

It seems to me that love is based on compromise and caring enough about someone elses feelings to compromise your own actions, beliefs or whatever because you don't want to cause any pain, distress or anxiety to the person you are in love with.

It's not possible for some people to trust anyone completely, yet they can still fall in love and demonstrate that love by caring enough to compromise.

It doesn't matter about the arguments for and against platonic bed sharing. If it will cause him stress and you want to demonstrate your love, then compromise.

This a wind up similar to a previous topic, a few months ago, of "Should I have sex with my new secretary". That thread had a couple of hundreds hits I believe.

Karla must be exceptionally dense to ask this question if she can't reason it for herself.

A woman asking a tenuous sex related question on a message board that is very much male dominated, how many replies will she get I wonder.

I think your boyfriend is probably a little annoyed as he can be pretty sure that you will no doubt be buying some new 'classy but sexy' nightwear whilst he has to put up with you wearing threadbare jogging bottoms, a 1992 Great North Run tee shirt and three days worth of stubble.

I think you need to reassure him that you will be wearing a dressing gown at all times and be smoking a pipe like Eric used to do when he shared a bed with Ernie.

bororeddaz Posted on 14/01/2009 09:17

Karla lets face the truth that it doesn't really matter.
Your a 27yr old man who lives with yer mam in Marton. You are more likely to be spending the weekend spying on your 17yr old neighbour than sharing a bed with a member of the opposite sex.

Karla i am friends with a few girls/women and i am in a relationship and so are most of them. In the bed sharing scenario i wouldn't try anything but i would definitely be thinking about it. That's the way men work. It doesn't mean they want to do anything or they don't value your friendship etc but they will definitely have thought about giving you one.
Now if my lass was in that scenario, i definitely wouldn't want her to be sharing a bed with someone who was imagining rattling her.

Oh I get it. You make something up, then say it's 'obvious', because you said it. Clever.

So you make things up like a child, consider masturbation to be 'exciting' and have now resorted to racism.

I think you need a little time out fella.

Karla,

You'll be fine. Just go for it. No hanky panky will ensue and that doesn't mean you're a bit of a dog.

The lads on here are just winding you up. Shame on you all for not giving truthful answers and putting women off this idea.
