IF West Ham go into ADMINISTRATION

Would they get the mandatory 10 Point Deduction or would the FA blame the global recession and let them off with it?

Serious post.

scobba Posted on 13/10/2008 15:05

I'm not sure what the Premier League's rules on administration are. The penalties that have been applied so far have been Football League ones.

What's the odds the cheating gets get away with it again?

There was a rule for a 9 point deduction put in place in 2003/4 I think.

MarlonD Posted on 13/10/2008 15:13
IF West Ham go into ADMINISTRATION

They will get a point reduction but it will be halved upon appeal.

The main basis of the appeal is that they won the World Cup.

ridsdale Posted on 13/10/2008 15:14

They won't go bust, Gordon Brown will bail them out.

Exactly ridsdale, they're a national treasure.

banPigbag Posted on 13/10/2008 15:19
IF West Ham go into ADMINISTRATION

The Premier League don't have any rules for their members going into administration. Points deduction only applies to Football League clubs.

Its been under review for a few years though so it'll go something like this if a club does go into admin...

*If West Ham go into administration, PL will hold emergency meeting. At said meeting, PL will vote unaminously to "bail WHU FC out with financial package".

*If unfashionable club (especially a northern one) goes into administration, PL will hold emergency meeting upon which it'll be decided to follow the football leagues lead and introduce points deductions as standard procedure.

sheriff_john_bunnell Posted on 13/10/2008 15:57

they'll probably get nationalised.

I expect someone will buy them dirt cheap then end up paying off their debt. Bit like what happened to chelsea. Werent they close to going out of business just before they were sold. Far too much money in the premier league to let a business man miss out on buying them cheap.

wasn,t west ham a side that wanted 3 points deduced off ourselves ?...

if going into admin.. trevor brooking will make sure no points will be take off them..after all he made sure no points were takne off during the tevez saga..

wonder what will happen a sheff utd wanted 50 million compo

sasboro1 Posted on 13/10/2008 16:19

surely just before they go into administration some dubai type businessman will step in and buy them for a nominal fee and agree to pay off theirs debts.

>"Far too much money in the premier league to let a business man miss out on buying them cheap."

I hardly think so... how many clubs are making a profit and fow many are in dire financial straits?

sasboro1 Posted on 13/10/2008 16:43
IF West Ham go into ADMINISTRATION

SO why do you think billionaires keep buying and sniffing around clubs? Charlton and everton might be next to get bought.
If due to west hams financial situation they become cheap to buy then there will be businessmen waiting to come in. I dont think it would reach administration as they would get bought by someone before it happens.

boksic Posted on 13/10/2008 17:32
IF West Ham go into ADMINISTRATION

Since June 2004 the premier league has had an automatic 9 point deduction for any club entering administration.

ian_elliot Posted on 13/10/2008 17:58
IF West Ham go into ADMINISTRATION

How many of these billionaires are making money out of their purchases?

How much profit have Abramovic, Lerner, Hicks & Gillette, the Glazers etc made so far?

How much money is Mike Ashley going to make on Newcastle - his asking price is dropping by the day as he realises that no-one wants to throw good money after bad?

More to the point how about West Ham's Icelandic sugar daddy?

wee_daft_boris Posted on 13/10/2008 18:35

Something fishy about the whole Iceland situation, losing so much money invested there by our councils amongst others, it really takes the biscuit when you compare their GDP to the amount of debt they have. Unbelievably dodgy practice.

HolgateCorner Posted on 13/10/2008 18:55

Nothing will happen with West Ham, they are the London luvvies club. The rules don't apply to the likes of them stupid...

Sorry, that tickled me.

AbramLatic Posted on 13/10/2008 21:41

Not a chance of a points deduction, they won the World Cup don't you know. If they went into admin, the FA would blame Iceland and Trevor Brooking would get them thrown out of the qualifiers for causing the downfall of the most honest club on the planet.

otto62 Posted on 14/10/2008 10:16

There is definitely a 9 point deduction rule, exact wording:-

"If any club should enter administration a 9 point deduction will be made from the points tally of Middlesbrough FC."*

*Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they AREN'T out to get us!
