Yep. Definitely Maybe was a good album, and still deserves an occasional listen. Since then - pompous dad rock without the chowns.

Nero Posted on 07/10/2008 09:31

Very good band who continue to churn out pretty good tunes.

Give me Oasis to the likes of Keane, Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs and all those other bands who seem to be exactly the same (The Feeling etc) any day of the week.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 07/10/2008 09:32
Oasis are Rubbish

Oasis aren't a patch on Coldplay and Keane and one day one of their songs might not sound exactly the same as the rest of them.

Don't count on it Lisbon.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 07/10/2008 09:34

Yes, good point grantus.

Nero Posted on 07/10/2008 09:34
Oasis are Rubbish

I like about 7 Coldplay songs, so would say that they're the better of the two.

However, Keane are bloody awful.

Anyway, Kings of Leon are far superior to any mentioned.

grantus Posted on 07/10/2008 09:35

Did you know, I introduced Lisbon to the Kings of Leon, who are now his favourite band?

Dibzzz Posted on 07/10/2008 09:37

I think they've realeased some fantastic iconic tracks 15 years ago, but they are a bit over-rated.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 07/10/2008 09:37
Oasis are Rubbish

Yes, Kings of Leon are superb, I saw them at Glastonbury before they'd released their first album. I recently introduced grantus to them and he's never shut up about them.

Nero Posted on 07/10/2008 09:37

Lisbon is like a leopard trying to change his spots.

I'm sure he's always been on the Oasis side when these types of threads spring up.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 07/10/2008 09:38

Coldplay are terrible. Really really poor.

grantus Posted on 07/10/2008 09:41
Oasis are Rubbish

Kings of Leon are a band of the past for me. Their early songs bring back some good memories. Now I'll be listening to the next big thing, not the band of a few years ago.

They have got very, very boring.

The new album sounds like a wankfest of the highest order.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 07/10/2008 09:42

Aren't Altern8 your favourites, Dr Evil.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 07/10/2008 09:43

grantus Posted on 07/10/2008 10:05

I liked Oasis for about 6 months when they released their 2nd album. Distincly average (and that's pushing it) to my ears.

There are still a lot of blokes wearing ted baker shirts too.

rubber_soles Posted on 07/10/2008 10:08

Thankfully, we've all got different tastes.

Oasis have done some great tracks and some pretty average ones too.

The same can be said for most bands.

Grantus,Could I just point out that Westlife have had 6 No1 albums so does that make them good?

grantus Posted on 07/10/2008 10:22
Oasis are Rubbish

If having number one albums is the criteria for being good, then yes, of course it does.

Critically acclaimed no, but I'll bet they have a hell of a lot of fans.

sheriff_john_bunnell Posted on 07/10/2008 10:26
Oasis are Rubbish

Oasis are rubbish, as are Kings of Leon. This boards musical tastes make me cringe. These are bands for people who don't like music. Having lots of fans or number one albums does not make a band good, just as millions of people assisting with the holocaust did not make it the right thing to do. sometimes lots of people are very wrong.

gibbos_left_boot Posted on 07/10/2008 10:30
Oasis are Rubbish

oasis are nothing more than average. and even thats being generous. they have to slag off other bands for publicity - which they only ever do when they have a new album out. and almost every song sounds the exact same.

oasis and several other bands mentioned on this thread are cack. you should leave all this guitar shoite well alone and listen to something proper like - google the hotel des costes albums by Stephane Pompougnac(sp?) for example

Schenkers_V Posted on 07/10/2008 10:55

Here is a classic from Noelie G. :

“All I ever wanted to do was make a record. Here's what you do: you pick up your guitar, you rip a few people's tunes off, you swap them round a bit, get your brother in the band, punch his head in every now and again, and it sells. I'm a lucky B******. I'm probably the single most lucky man in the world -- apart from our Liam.”

Bandy Posted on 07/10/2008 10:56

well said Noel. Not so daft afterall. been listening to the new album this morning and it's decent. Not up there with the first two but it's catchy. Half the tracks are great, some a good and a handful are very average so overall not a bad ratio in my opinion.

Me & Scubahood prefer Take That.

Schenkers_V Posted on 07/10/2008 11:23

Noel Gallagher, the driving force behind Oasis, once said, "We've only got half a dozen good bands in England -- there's Oasis and there's five Oasis tribute bands."

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 11:54
Oasis are Rubbish

I love thw way Oasis fans are dismissed as chavs and as not opening their mind to non-chart music just because the person dismissing them doesn't like them.

Music is as subjective as it gets and so criticising someone for liking a band you don't is, frankly, a bit dim.

I love Oasis, I think they're the best band of the last 20 odd years and I have an extremely eclectic record collection. Thyey remain, to me, the most exciting band around and far more interesting than the dull and monotonous bands around such as Kaisers, Coldplay and a few others I could mention. It's just my personal taste though.

Bandy - the new album is their best for me. I prefer it to all that they have done before. I absolutely love it. It's definitely a grower.

Bandy Posted on 07/10/2008 11:57
Oasis are Rubbish

Only skimmed through it a few times Adi so it will grow. Some banging drums on it like! There's a touch of the drum n bass about some of the tracks rather than the traditional beatle sounding stuff. I prefer Noel singing than Liam.

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 12:03

What I found Bandy is that the 'instant' songs have more depth than you relaise and the last 3 tracks on the album (which weren't instant for me) grow on you. There aren't any anthemic Oasis bu numbers songs on there. It's a well thought out, well crafted and as you say bassy album that flows really well, which was apparently the intention.

Bandy Posted on 07/10/2008 12:04

lots of sampled sounds and strange muffled voices aswell which adds to it I suppose. off to see them next week so very excited about that!

PoetLaureate Posted on 07/10/2008 12:24
Oasis are Rubbish

I am a massive Oasis fan but still not sure about new album. Songs such as "I'm outta time" are brilliant! but think Noel sings to much on the album and lyrics are not very strong on some songs.

rubber_soles Posted on 07/10/2008 12:27
Oasis are Rubbish

Probably Bleach. A couple of the last FNM albums were a bit heavy. All their albums are different actually but Angel Dust is a quality album and well worth a try.

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 12:27
Oasis are Rubbish

Poet - I couldn't disagree more. Shock of the Lightning and Outta Time are, for me, the only songs on there that are 'typical' Oasis songs. I love them both but they are probably 8th and 9th in terms of the album as a whole.

Keep listening the bass and drums pulls you in and hooks you. Well, it did me anyway. As I say this is an album rather than a collection of albums. Subtle but I think a lot more thought has gone into track order, flow, types of song etc. For example Boy with the Blues is actually a better song than a lot on the album but it just wouldn't have fit and so didn't go on.

king_hellfire Posted on 07/10/2008 12:29
Oasis are Rubbish

I like all of FNM's albums and i would say Angel Dust is the best of the lot.

Ps. In my opinion Mike Patton's voice is second only to Eddie Vedder's.

Link: One of my favourite Angel Dust songs.

I liked Definitely Maybe. OK Computer was the best album by a British band in the 90s, however. I don't think Coldplay are a bad group, but for every good song they have a three forgettable ones. If Coldplay were a football player they'd be Gary O'Neil.

zoec Posted on 07/10/2008 14:34

I'd say more John Barnes (when playing for England) than Gary O'Neil. One brilliant moment surrounded by quite a lot of dross.

You see what I mean - that last post is just dim.

Out of interest what is 'unsafe' music? Potential to damage the eardrums? Causes a fire hazard when you put the CD in?

Brick_Tamland Posted on 07/10/2008 14:39

I'm liking the Barnes reference and agree. I presume we're both talking about his lyrical dexterity as evidenced in the 'Anfield Rap'?I have a mate who talks like JB - have to record everything he says on a dictaphone and play it back at half-speed to figure out what he's saying.

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 14:42
Oasis are Rubbish

That's not what I said. I said your post was a bit dim because it criticises those of us that like Oasis. It belittles our taste just because you don't like it.

Tom_Fun Posted on 07/10/2008 14:44
Oasis are Rubbish

But you belittled fans of the Kaisers and Coldplay by calling them dull and monotonous.

mailinator Posted on 07/10/2008 14:44
Oasis are Rubbish

They've hardly changed as a band since day one so by dismissing new bands and sticking with what you know, you are missing out. I do like Oasis but they've never changed and their later stuff is just fooking rubbish compared to their breakthrough records.

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 14:45
Oasis are Rubbish

Ah, no I didn't. I said I found their music dull and monotonous, I was not judging others for disagreeing with me. It's all subjective. That is very different to saying that those of us that like Oasis do so simply because we like to be in this notional comfort zone.

mailinator Posted on 07/10/2008 14:48
Oasis are Rubbish

Yet those bands have been acclaimed over the past 10 years for their output and oasis have generally been panned.

I just find it odd that you can call other bands dull and monotonous when oasis just churn out tributes to the hits they used to have. What other bands are in your eclectic collection? Phil Collins?

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 14:49
Oasis are Rubbish

That's the point though Mailinator - how do you know I am dismissing new bands? As it happens, I disagree with you about Oasis completely. I think they have changed actually and that their later albums are in many ways better than their early stuff though they will always fundamentally sound like Oasis - they play guitars and a certain style of music. I like that. That doesn't mean that I am closed to any other band though, that would be daft.

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 14:51
Oasis are Rubbish

Again, your last post is just pure guesswork. I find bands like Coldplay and Kaiser Chiefs dull, monotonous and not to my taste. You may disagree which is fine but why attack me for it. Why do you believe that your view of Oasis is right and mine is just because I prefer to be in a comfort zone?

Oh, and while we're at it critical acclaim is completely irrelevant to me. Just because Coldplay may have been acclaimed for 10 years doesn't mean I should like them just as Oasis getting poor reviews (which they haven't by the way) will alter my view of their music. Completely irrelevant.

mailinator Posted on 07/10/2008 14:55
Oasis are Rubbish

As I said Adi, it's subjective when it's your opinion, and an attack when it's mine. Carry on.

P-Coll has written some good stuff, though. Not loads, but some. The Genesis track 'Hold On My Heart' is a personal fave and 'In Too Deep' is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and committment. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial, and therefore more satisfying (in a narrower way), especially on songs like 'In the air tonight' and 'Against All Odds'. But I also think Collins works best within the confines of the group than as a solo artist, and I stress the word 'artist'.

Now I dont like any of the bands listed there but what a joke that comment is, Oasis have released the same album about 7 times now in nearly 15 years and its not even their sound. They are vultures of music.
Someone else also said iconic songs, only wonderwall will be remembered in 10 years time.

Oasis are Rubbish

I have written 15 posts on this thread. Rest of the afternoon? Really? You won't because you can't. I will repeat what I said earlier - not once have I criticised anyone for their taste in music. Not once. I have expressed certain opinions about certain bands and nothing more. I criticised you (hardly an attack but there you go) for saying that those of us that do like Oasis only do so because we like safe music and are in our comfort zone. Now you should just be an adult and accept that some people just genuinely like their music, as is their right but of course you won't.

As if by magic, BaconButty comes in and makes an arse of himself. I stress not because he doesn't like Oasis, that's fine, but because he thinks those of us that do like them are part of this hardcore fanbase and support them no matter what. What utter, utter garbage that is.

Adi, what the fook are you on about? You are like this with mappy demanding answers and explanations for posts.

I think Oasis are S***e and I think anyone who claims them to be the best band of the past 20 years is talking S***e. I think it is laughable for that person to then label other bands as monotonous.

What exactly do you want me to say FFS?

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 15:15
Oasis are Rubbish

I don't want you to say anything and I'm not demanding any answers or explanations. You are obviously of the view that I was criticising you for expressing an opinion that didn't match my own. I am telling you that that is not what I was criticising.

What I was criticising was your view that anyone that liked Oasis did so because they only liked safe music and liked to stay in their comfort zone. That is a nonsense. I am entitled to like Oasis just as you are entitled to hate them.

Would it be reasonable, for example, for me to say that you only disliked Oasis because it was fashionable to do so?*

*For the avoidance of any doubt I am not ACTUALLY saying that.

I find it funny when people say Oasis "sound just the same!"

Of course they bloody do. So do every other band. Coldplay have a style and their songs sound similar. The Beatles had a style and their tracks all sound similar and so on.

You're hardly going to get a band releasing full on heavy metal one album, followed by Indie Rock the next.

That's why we get Indie bands, Heavy Metal, Rap, Dance. Within those styles, the music is based on the same stuff. So, all bands always sound the same.

Nero - I agree completely except in relation to the Beatles. A truly innovative band that explored a variety of musical styles and changed the music industry forever.

All I am trying to illustrate, obviously badly, is that one man's meat is another man's poison and so criticising someone's taste in music is as pointless as criticising them for liking the colour red.

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 15:26

Pull what S*** on mappie? Setting traps? It's a football messageboard FFS.

I am saying exactly what I feel. I feel it is a bit dim to criticise or dismiss people for their taste in music, which is exactly what you did. That statement isn't a trap it's an illustration of just how daft you are being.

You don't like Oasis - fine, I have no problem with that. All I am asking is that you extend the same courtesy to me instead of simply dismissing anyone that likes Oasis as being "safe" or refusing to leave their "comfort zone".

Nothing more than that really.

'Name me another band with "B" sides as good.'

The Smiths

Oscillate Wildly, How Soon Is Now> (Originally a b-side believe it or not), Jeane, Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want, Asleep etc.

I could go on for hours, but I wont. However it must be said that Oasis' (who I neither like nor dislike) best record was a b-side - Acquiesce.

Adi, I'm sorry you can't take criticism. Perhaps you should repeat your "it's only a football messageboard" mantra to yourself a few times once in a while.

Possibly the greatest band ever [The Smiths], with honarable mentions to New Order, The Style Council (really!), The Jam, The Specials & The Clash.

Noel himself has claimed that without The Smiths there wouldnt be an Oasis, although he seems claim that about most people these days.

I'm just waiting for him to claim a debt to Northside.

That's a hard one Scoea, although I'm sure people will point to The Queen is Dead, I personally love the self titled debut album most.

That said so many "Best of" albums have been released that you cant go wrong with any of them. Hatful of Hollow is a compilation album which features Radio 1 studio recordings with their B-sides and is a decent introduction.

Yes Oasis are rubbish. 12 years ago hey were great. Captured the mood of the time with some decent tunes. Past their second album and they are just regurgitating the same old pap for lazy people who can't be bothered to find anything else to listen to. As musicians they haven't evolved at all in a decade.

"6 number 1 albums would suggest otherwise."

Didn't that Mcdonalds/KFC song get to number one? Popularity in the music charts proves nothing more than a lot of people who buy music are morons.

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 22:03

"lazy people who can't be bothered to find anything else to listen to."

And that, in a nutshell, sums up my earlier comment about people being dim. How bloody narrow minded and arrogant.

flaps Posted on 07/10/2008 22:04
Oasis are Rubbish

I looked up your post Adi and

"I think they're the best band of the last 20 odd years"

Suggests that, of the two of us, I'm not the narrow minded one. An astonishing statement that demonstrates very poor judgement.

You have the right to enjoy whatever music you want of course. It's just that you need to be made aware that the music you listen to is crap.

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 22:11
Oasis are Rubbish

As I say, truly pathetic. I guess it says a lot about you that you consider me liking Oasis to be narrow minded and yet you saying that I need to be aware that the music I listen to is crap and that it is because I am lazy isn't.

Cracking argument. The truth is you have no idea what I listen to, your taste in music is no better than mine and your view on it stinks.

If you consider Oasis to be the best band of the last 20 years then yes you are narrow minded. You can't have been exposed to much else.

"Utter B*******. Explain that statement without sounding like an arrogant dick."

It's pretty simple.

How would you react if somebody described McDonalds as the best restaurant they've ever been to?

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 22:21
Oasis are Rubbish

Nope, you didn't manage it. Try again.

This boils down to you thinking your taste in music is superior to someone else's. As I say arrogant, patronising, narrow minded.

So tell me what makes you think you're view is superior?

flaps Posted on 07/10/2008 22:24
Oasis are Rubbish

"Nope, you didn't manage it. Try again."

I think the analogy works perfectly well. Maybe you'd like to explain its shortcomings?

Or, if you prefer, you could just whine a bit more. Up to you.

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 22:32
Oasis are Rubbish

Not whining about anything, just shocked at your unbelievable arrogance. I'm really surprised you can't see it.

McDonalds is cheap takeaway food that a lot of people like. That doesn't preclude them from also enjoying restaurant food. The two things are entirely different and aren't entirely subjective. Music, on the other hand, is.

As I said above you may as well be deriding my favourite colour. The point is, and I repeat, that your opinion and taste in music is no better (or worse I might add) than mine and yet somehow you seem to adopt the view that your taste in music is superior to mine and have assumed that I don't listen to very much. That is just arrogant and ignorant I'm afraid.

flaps Posted on 07/10/2008 22:35

"McDonalds is cheap takeaway food that a lot of people like. That doesn't preclude them from also enjoying restaurant food. The two things are entirely different and aren't entirely subjective. Music, on the other hand, is."

You either didn't understand my point or are being obtuse. Either way it's not very helpful. Not sure how somebody's preference for food can be anything other than subjective though.

And you're right. Arbitrarily stating that my musical taste is better than somebody else's isn't something I'd normally feel able to do. However, in your case, I think it's entirely justified. Lets just have a recap:

"I love Oasis, I think they're the best band of the last 20 odd years"

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 22:38

You're just proving my point over and over again. I'm not being obtuse and I saw your point immediately, it's just not one that I agree with and that seems to be something that you can't cope with. Is it a defence mechanism? Whatever it is, it's very odd.

Out of interest, could you tell me who you like, which band you consider to have been the best over the last 20 years?

flaps Posted on 07/10/2008 22:46
Oasis are Rubbish

"You're just proving my point over and over again. I'm not being obtuse and I saw your point immediately, it's just not one that I agree with and that seems to be something that you can't cope with. Is it a defence mechanism? Whatever it is, it's very odd."

Ah amateur pyschology. The last bastion of those who've lost an argument. If you did understand my point, why did you reply in a way that suggests you didn't?

And no, I won't be providing you with a list of bands that I consider are better than Oasis.

Adi_Dem Posted on 07/10/2008 22:53
Oasis are Rubbish

Psychology? Nope, just trying to understand. Lost an argument? Not sure how I can lose an argument about music but I guess that's my point. You consider that I didn't understand your analogy because I didn't agree that it applied. It seems to me that that is exactly the approach you have adopted in relation to the music discussion.

In simple terms you consider your taste in music and your view of music as superior to mine because I like Oasis. That's it in a nutshell isn't it?

I didn't ask you to tell me which bands you consider to be better than Oasis. I asked which band you consider to be the best of the last 20 years. I'm not sure why you would be reluctant to do that. You have attacked my taste in music, the width of my record collection and my ability to judge music based on the band I think are the best of the last 20 years and yet are unwilling to tell me which band you would pick. Why?

flaps Posted on 07/10/2008 22:58
Oasis are Rubbish

"In simple terms you consider your taste in music and your view of music as superior to mine because I like Oasis. That's it in a nutshell isn't it?"

Not exactly, but close it's this:

"I love Oasis, I think they're the best band of the last 20 odd years "

that makes me think my taste in music is superior to yours.

"I didn't ask you to tell me which bands you consider to be better than Oasis. I asked which band you consider to be the best of the last 20 years"

Given that you consider Oasis to be the best band of the last 20 years, and you've asked me to name a band that I consider is the best of the last 20 years, naming a band would be by default naming one that I consider to be better than Oasis.

And yes, throwing around terms such as 'defence mechanism' in an attempt to prove your point does smack of amateur psychology whether you realise it or not.

Spot on OldGregg. Chemicl Brothers have changed and mutated and influenced throughout their careers. That's why Noel Gallagher was desperate to sing on a couple of their tracks. Oasis have put out the same set of chords, album after album.

Old_Gregg Posted on 08/10/2008 05:04

Well I'm not gonna slag Oasis off - I actually quite like them! Not a patch on the Chemical Brothers mind and certainly nowhere near the best band of the last 20 years. Nirvana get my vote for that. Oasis really are just a middle of the road band with nothing special or catchy to offer. They dont help themselves by being C****y and arrogant and thinking they own British music with comments like "I'm not having Jay-Z at Glastonbury, it's our festival etc".

I could easily list a hundred bands better than them in the last 20 years, but... if thats Adi's opinion then it's all a matter of taste and he shouldn't be shot down for it. Fair enough if he'd said "they are the best band in 20 years" then he would deserve some stick but it's only his opinion.

Thanks for the kind words, but I'm comfortable with describing somebody who thinks Oasis are the best band of the last 20 years as wrong. Similarly, to reuse my earlier analogy, I'd be comfortable describing somebody who thinks McDonalds is the best restaurant as wrong.

Yes he did:

"I think they're the best band of the last 20 odd years"

Or do you think prefacing a ludicrous claim with 'I think' is some kind of get-out clause for idiocy?

"I think black people should be forced to leave the UK"

Doesn't work does it.

No, you're engaging in hyperbole because you seem a little bit upset that somebody doesn't share your taste in music.

This isn't a complicated conversation Adi_Dem. You think that Oasis are the best band of the last 20 years. Somebody else might think that the Fast Food Rockers are the best band of the last 20 years. Both of these opinions are idiotic.

You're tying yourself up in knots flaps. Having an opinion is fine, calling someone lazy, idiotic and claiming that their taste in music is inferior because they rate a particular band as the best in the last twenty years is not.

It wasn't hyperbole at all. No exaggeration. It's just what you have posted. However, to understand you correclty it's not that I like Oasis per se, it's that I rate them as the best band of the last 20 years? So, in other words:

You've confirmed that is right.

2. As a result of my rating Oasis as the best band in the last 20 years your taste in music is superior to mine.

People learning to play the guitar are sudeen die-hard Oasis fans, because their tunes can be played by a 4 year old.

Have you tried Bill? I am a pretty good guitarist, even if I do say so myself, and I can assure you that is inaccurate.

flaps - it was not by any means an attempt to exaggerate. I was genuinely asking you, out of interest, whether I had interpreted your take on this correctly because I am, frankly, staggered by your attitude. As it is clear that I have got it right now then that ought to be the end of it. OK with you?

I'm struggling to recall any Oasis songs that are particularly challenging on the guitar?

Adi_Dem Posted on 08/10/2008 14:46
Oasis are Rubbish

Depends if you want to play them correctly!!

Yeah, playing them correctly and everything.

"As it is clear that I have got it right now then that ought to be the end of it. OK with you?"

It never started.

I'm staggered that you're staggered that describing Oasis as the best band of the last 20 years would result in someone suggesting you haven't got a clue.

It's hard to tell sometimes, adi!

Hated them since 1994 and John Hendrie was balancing a ball on his nose at Turf Moor. The W*****s nearly spoiled my weekend at Manchester Academy.

Thankfully, football has since tried to do that by itself since.

don't like oasis. i used to when i was younger but to be honest they'll always be a poor mans stone roses

Oasis are Rubbish

I'm going to watch them because they are a good live band and their older songs are class, but to be honest with you i can't be arsed with anything after Be Here Now(Lyla and Little By Little being the exceptions)
I've got the new album and i'm not really that interested in giving it a proper listening to, i've skipped through it and nothing really grabbed my attention, i'd heard The Shock Of The Lightning on the radio and that sounded alright, nothing special, mind, but it should sound good played live.

I agree Paddy.

In my opinion the Stone Roses are on a different level to Oasis

Hellfire - I recommend that you give the new album a good listen. Most people dismiss everything post Be Here Now but (and this is just my OPINION remember) I think that their best stuff has actually come after their first three albums, just not as consistently. The new album changes that for me. it's a less instant Oasis record but it is a definite grower. You may end up with the same view but just give it a few listens.

I like Oasis, Stone roses & Nirvana.

Everyone raves about Nirvana or Stone Roses like they are far superior to Oasis when i haven't seen anything to prove it in my own opinion.

If Oasis left it after WTSMG and either died or broke up then i'm sure they'll think of Oasis in a much higher regard. They have churned out some crap since them days, mixed with some good but i don't recall any band i've heard that has made 6+ albums as good as the first 1 or 2 albums.

People seem to expect the same as DM or WTSMG to be recorded every time they release something, it would never happen.

I really like the new album, it's more of a grower with not much smacking u in the face at first but it's a fresher sound to the past few & well worth the listen imo.

That's well put Kobe. I think there are moments since the first two album that have surpassed those first two albums but not an entire albums worth - until now. The new one has really impressed me and I genuinely think it is one of their best.

Oasis are Rubbish

I agree Adi_

Songs like Gas Panic/impostance of being idle/Stop Crying Your Heart out/Hindu times imo are better than many a song on the first 2 albums.

The new album is excellent imo, To Be Where There's Life for example is very different to anything they've done.
