Since most people are going home. I will draw tonight and post early morning so it will be up in the morning.
I will stick to all the teams. There are some bigger teams that aren't playing well right now so to just use the top 20 wouldn't work. Also being Boro supporters we should be use to supporting a team on a roller coaster.
So if everyone could have names down by midnight.
We can also have a two day trade deadline so those that want to trade teams can do so. I will provide as much info about your new team as I can.

The FMTTM NFL Team Draw

OK here it is! Just did the draw. There were 18 names and there are 32 teams. I assigned a number to each and placed them in a hat(well a bowl really). I assigned numbers to the all 32 teams and placed them in a different bowl. I drew a number from the names bowl and then a number from the teams. I will post each one along with info on team and a link to wiki because it is easier to get more info along with a link to your official team page.
Remember there is a two day trading period. I know that a couple of people wanted certain teams. Thursday midnight is deadline. I think we should leave the other teams open so that if anyone else wants to join in they can. Next game is Sunday. I will post on Monday every week the scores and tables.
Enjoy supporting your new NFL team!

mattyk50(1)

St.Louis Rams
current record (0-4) which means they have lost 4. Rams are like West Ham some seasons decent, even making it to Super Bowl a couple of times and some seasons poor. This will be just like supporting Boro as far as high highs and low lows. Use to be LA Rams. I don't think their current manager(coach) will make it past week 8.
Best player is running back Steven Jackson.
mattyk50, your link is not working directly to the Rams. So just go to the NFL link click on Rams.

New England Patriots

current record (2-1)
The Chelsea of the NFL. The coach is hands down the best coach in NFL. He is hard nosed and seems to just win. Suffered big lost of their best player in quarterback Tom Brady, who is the best QB in NFL. Miami just beat them two weeks ago. They have to adjust to lose of Brady. Still a good team. Very easy team to support. Three Super Bowl wins. The guy they have starting at QB now had not started a game since high school.

Atlanta Falcons

current record (2-2)
The Reading or Blackburn of the NFL. Good owner, maybe one of the best in the NFL. They lost their player Michael Vick 2 years ago when he was sent to prison for dog fighting. New QB is a rookie, with lots of promise. They have their 3rd coach in 4 years. Playing a lot better then most people thought. Spent money over the summer to beef up team. Been to Super Bowl once.

fever_dog (4)

Cincinnati Bengals

current record (0-4)
The Spurs of the NFL. Team with lots of talent but won't play as a team. Maybe I should have said the England team of NFL. They should not be 0-4. They have one of the best QB's and maybe the best wide receiver in the NFL. Chad Johnson is the star player. He is a wide receiver. He just changed his name to Chad Ochocinco Which is Spanish for his number(85). He wanted to leave this summer but team wouldn't let him go. One of the best teams in NFL a couple of years ago, one game away from Super Bowl. Problem with drafting palyers out of college that had behavior problems. I think they have had 6 players arrested in last 4 years.

Parno (5)

Arizona Cardinals

current record (2-2)
The Sunderland of the NFL. I know it will be tough to support with the Sunderland attachment but Arizona is an up and coming team. They are sitting first right now and are in a poor division. I call them the Sunderland of NFL because they never have lived up to all the hype. They have tons of fans and a great stadium but always come up short. They have a new coach and a young talented team. No real star player, QB Matt Leinart should be the star but he is not even starting right now. Two very good receivers. Very good defense. I think they will make playoffs.
Use to be the St Louis Cardinals.

Pacey (6)

Indianapolis Colts

current record (1-2)
The Arsenal of the NFL. Always good, always near the top. Coach Tony Dungy is very much like Wenger. Players love playing for him. They finally won the Super Bowl 2 years ago. He was known for his defense when he managed Tampa. Now it is the offense. They have the second best QB in the NFL in Payton Manning. Payton is the brother of Eli the QB for the Giants. Their father was also an NFL coach.
They use to be the Baltimore Colts and moved in the middle of the night. Baltimore fans hate them. They just moved into new stadium.
If you had to get a team to support this would be the one. Only Baltimore fans hate this team.

Juan_Kerr_Was_Kevo (7)

New Orleans Saints
current record(2-2)
The Derby County of the NFL. They use to be called the "aint's". Never have won anything. The team has improved in the last 3 years. Star player, Reggie Bush is not the best player on team. Team should make the playoffs. Although the history is bad this is a good team to support. They have built a good foundation of good young players. Will be good for a few years to come and owner is involved in a positive way with team. He is very much like Gibson. I was close to calling them the Boro of NFL but we have one cup and a bunch of finals.

dicky2006 (8)

Carolina Panthers

current record (3-1)
The Everton of the NFL. They sucked until they got their current coach. Bit of an up and down team. The last few years always predicted to go to Super Bowl and every year they don't make it. When people count them out they make. No one thought they would be good this year and they start 3-1. Big fight on team during spring training ended with star player Steve Smith breaking nose of teammate.
Panthers are a new team only formed 1995 but have already been to one Super Bowl.

SuperBokSupper (9)

Oakland Raiders

current record (1-3)
The early 90's Wimbledon of the NFL. Just fired their coach who was the youngest manager in the league at 33. Tons of tradition and maybe the most widely known fans around. Had reputation for being tough. In recent years they have sucked. Owner Al Davis is old and going a bit senile. Needs to step down or team is doomed. Went to Super Bowl 5 years ago and ever since then downhill. Young QB and running back both were highly sought after in draft. They are an old school team that can't find their way in new school football. Coach that was just fired said Davis was running defense.

MsCurly (10)

Dallas Cowboys
current record (3-1)

The Man U of the NFL. Use to be called "America's Team", I think New Orleans has taken the title now because of Katrina. Most people think they will make it to the Super Bowl this year. Owner is very involved in the team. As long as he is owner this team will never be that bad. He spends his way out of everything. They always seem to get the big players. Unlike ManU they go through coaches every three years or so there is a new one. Star player is Tony Romo the QB he is dating Jessica Simpson. They also have Terrel Owens the wide receiver who was famous for bringing down good teams. He has managed to keep it together while at Dallas. They are also famous for the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. They are getting a new stadium next year.

MsCurly, I know you wanted the Giants. Strange thing is you end up Dallas, Cowboys and Giants are in the same division and are bitter rivals.

Grantus (11)

Houston Texans
current record (0-3)

The Sarah Palin of the NFL. Just not qualified for NFL. The newest team in the NFL. Created in 2002. It takes most teams to build a decent team to compete in the NFL. Last year Houston were 8-8 for the first no losing season in their short history. This year they seem to have taken a step or two backwards. I think it will be a long season for Houston. For some one getting into football I think Houston will be a good choice to start to support. They are building and will be good in a few years time. The good thing about USA sports is that with the draft and salary caps it doesn't take a long time before a team turns around. Unless the organization is bad. Houston has a good organization and lots of fans.

I have a feeling you will be trading Grantus. Remember when I choose to support Boro they were in the First division. Look how that turned out. If I had picked a Man U or Chelsea how boring would that have been. Would have gotten to travel to more European matches and celebrated a whole lot of league and cup wins. Would have spent the summer talking about what big star is coming to play. Better stop making myself look stupid for choosing Boro. Anyway keep Houston, Grantus, life is about the risk.

Tennessee Titans

current record (4-0)
The Boro of the NFL. Always fall apart around Christmas time. Always let teams come back at the end of the game. They are a true roller coaster team that always surprises you. They can beat anyone and they can lose to anyone. They keep players longer then they should. Their star player is a headcase. Owner is very much like Gibson. Decent fans but not a big fan base. No one hates them no one likes them. They had a crazy run to the Super Bowl a few years back and haven't come close since. Most of the matches in playoffs in the Super Bowl year were crazy comebacks. One game is called the "music city miracle", because of the wild comeback.
They have started the year off undefeated but no one thinks that will continue. They get no respect. Media always dismisses anything but negative. So watch them make it to Super Bowl again.

Nero (13)

Washington Redskins

current record (3-1)

The Newcastle United of the NFL. A sh*te owner. They buy tons of high priced players that never turn out. Most end up injured. They think they have the best fans and they don't. They think they are going to Super Bowl every year and they don't. They have changed coaches a bunch of times and a just recent brought back the coach, Joe Gibbs, that took them to the Super Bowl in the 90's, who was retired and running a circus... no just kidding. He was retired but he was running a Nascar team. Saying all of that not a bad team to follow because they are in a good division and they have good rivalries with Cowboys, Giants and Eagles.

NY Giants

current record (4-0)
The Liverpool of the NFL. Team with a ton of history and tradition. The are the Super Bowl Champs and are playing great this season. A great team to support because they are in the mix but still full of ups and downs. QB is Eli Manning and is the new star of the league since his Super Bowl performance last season. They have started off better then most people thought after losing a star defensive player to retirement and one to injury. They play as a team. Coach is maybe the hardest coach to play for in football. He is an old school coach. They are one of the top 4 teams in league. Lots of money and big fan base. They actually play their games in New Jersey.

Buffalo Bills

current record (4-0)
The Aston Villa of the NFL. A good solid team with good ownership and good supporters. They are a young team with a young coach. Performing great so far this year with a second year QB that no one thought would be as good as he has been. Team has been on a slide for a few years but seems to have turned the corner. No real stars but lots of talent. When I was a kid I loved the Bills because OJ Simpson played for them.
I say they are like Aston Villa because no matter how well they play people never consider them a big time team. Always in the second or third tier.

Cleveland Browns

current record (1-3)
The Bolton of the NFL. In reality Cleveland is like a bunch of teams. They are in some ways like Boro if you look at the fans and the city. If you stick to team and team rep then they are not Boro. The Browns are a new team and an old team. The Original Browns moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens after the Colts left. The league made them leave the name and team colors. They didn't have a team for 3 years or so and the NFL gave them a team in 1999. So they still have the history but it is not really the Browns. It is like if Gibson moved the Boro to Chester and he started another Boro team. Same thing that happened with Wimbledon.
Team is young and showed massive improvement last year. Star player is Kellen Winslow who is a tight end. His father was a great player for San Diego. They also have a QB sitting on the bench named Brady Quinn who was a star at Notre Dame.

Chicago Bears

current record (2-2)
The Liverpool of NFL. Ok we have two Liverpool's of the NFL but it is late and I am running out of brain cells.
Bears are a top team in the NFL. They have had the same owners for years. Big time history, one of the oldest teams. They have one one Super Bowl and a few championships before there were Super Bowls. Like NY Giants they have their ups and downs. Very large fan base and maybe one of three teams that are known through out the world.
Devin Hester is the star. He is a kick returner and receiver. They have been held back in last few years from going all the way to winning the Super Bowl because of a lack of a good QB. That has not been addressed. Still there is no better time then a game at Soldier Field.

Miami Dolphins

current record (1-2)
The Nottingham Forest of NFL. Great team in the past trying to make it back. This is my team. I have been supporting them for a long long time. They are the only team to ever have a perfect season. Those were the glory days. Last year they came one game away from losing every game. They have brought in Bill Parcells who has a history of bringing teams back from the dead. They look better then they did last year but still think it will be a long season. They have two really good running backs one of them Ricky Williams retired at age 27 so that he could smoke pot. When he found out he would have to give back his 10 million dollar signing bonus he decided to come back. Big problem at QB and a bunch of other positions. We got rid of most of the vets and no he is building with youth. Big win last week over New England could spark a roll. It was only the second win in 27 games.
But who cares when you come and see them play you will be in Miami. Good thing is they are on the rise so you missed out on the really bad years.

Sorry mattyk50. When I drew the team,I thought the same thing. You still have two days to trade but don't count the Rams out long term.

The Texans are not the Oilers. The Oilers are the Tennessee Boro Titans. They were moved to Nashville by the owner. I know it sounds crazy all of this movement but USA teams are about the money. You can't survive without making money.

Warren Moon!

doireboro Posted on 01/10/2008 12:47
The FMTTM NFL Team Draw

the NFL schedule is worked that you play the teams in your division twice each, play one division from the other conference one time each. I think if I remember correct this is randomly decided, like one year it will be decided that nfc east teams have to play the afc central, and then the next year the afc west and so on and then the remaining games are made up of other NFC teams based on the records from the previious year. this is supposed to give the worse teams an advisnage but with the split to 8 divisions it's gotten harder to understand but thats the basic jist of it.

I've followed the NFL closely for 24 years, been to Texas Stadium to see the Cowboys (my team - from I was 5 til present)
and Lived in the US for 10 years in which sundays revolved around 3 NFL games all day and that was your sunday so am fairly knowledgeable and would be willing to help answer any questions in this thread.

This season I like the Titans as their defense is great and I have to have high hopes for the Cowboys, even though the loss at the weekend to the Redskins was a setback.

orlando2boro Posted on 01/10/2008 13:04
The FMTTM NFL Team Draw

Both San Fran and Steelers have 5. The Super Bowl only came about in the 60's. Before that it was the National League and the Giants and Packers ruled. The current structure is a merger of the AFL, which was another league and the NFL. After that they created the Super Bowl.
Also the Cowboys have 5.

don't mind that at all, and with a 4-0 record the sky is the limit, superbowl here we come

doireboro Posted on 01/10/2008 13:11
The FMTTM NFL Team Draw

sure does Nero...unfortunately! Cowboys v Redskins is one of the oldest and most heated rivalrys in the NFL.

The NFC east is the best division in the NFL at present, but I suppose you could make a good case for it being the best division historically as well. Any of the 4 of them could win the division and 1 or 2 of them will be very disapointed when the season ends and they haven't even made the playoffs!

Warren Moon was a class act. Threw for 40,000 yeards if memory serves correct. One of the best quarterbacks at throwing deep ever.

Cowboys, 49ers & Steelers have won 5 superbowls each, which is the most btw as well.

Potential bad news for whoever got Dallas.

TO (Terrel Owens), their star WR, is the most selfish person ever. Over a third of their plays go to TO, yet hes still not happy and requested a sitdown with the QB Tony Romo.
Signs of TO getting bored again a la Eagles and 49ers?

Hes a great player but is a selfish W*****.

doireboro Posted on 01/10/2008 13:27
The FMTTM NFL Team Draw

I wouldn't worry about that too much Afonso. the media over there blows everything TO says up to be way more than it is. TO and Romo have a good working relationship & the cowboys have paid him what he wanted to be paid so i don't think he'll rock the boat too much.

He made some comments about not getting the ball enough last sunday, but thats natural for one of your best players to get frustrated when not getting the ball and then the team losing. I thin not letting Felix Jones have a single carry or reception is what cost them last week more than TO not doing much though myself.

The NFL is split into 2 'Conferences' The American Confrence and the National Conference. Each of those is split into 4 more mini leagues, north, east, south and west. But for some reason geographical location doesnt seem to have much to do with it.
The team who finishes top in each mini league go into the playoffs. So there are 2 elimination games in each conference, then a final Conference Championship takes place for the NFC and AFC. The SuperBowl is between the winners of each championship.

I'm sure thats not 100%, but its the basic jist. I'm sure there is a wild card in the playoffs, which is the best second placed team, but I'm not sure how they fit in, or even if its still done.

There are 3 live games on a Sunday on Sky sports starting from 5pm, and highlight shows repeated throughout the week. NFL on Five is Monday nights, and when the basbeball finishes in November, it will be also on on a sunday.
