It will always be dinner and tea.

Do you call your parents "mother and father" during the week, then "our mam and dad" weekend only?

I'm a bit of a strange one actually. I call it Lunch and Tea.

I never say dinner, and always tell one of the girls off when she asks me what I had for dinner...Its tea!!!

You satanists scare me...

Last nights meal was delightful.

Fillet steak, served rare, seasoned to perfection, mushrooms, onions, new pots, cheeky bit of salad and a couple of glasses of chateauneuf du pape.

One of my faves.

You fat lads, take more notes.

PP, why are you trying to act privileged, cultured and sophisticated? Is that what being gay has done to you, or is it from living down south? Or a combination of both?

Do you actually think we care about what you ate last night? If you had asked us to guess, 95% of the answers would have been a large pork sausage.

Fillet steak rare? What a waste

The_Lizards_Jumpers Posted on 23/09/2008 11:55
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

I eat my steak medium / well done, much to the annoyance of most of my dining partners.

hewielewie Posted on 23/09/2008 11:57
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

That is sort of ok if you are eating sirloin or rump but not with fillet

The_Lizards_Jumpers Posted on 23/09/2008 11:58
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

I dont eat sirloin or rump, only fillet.

I hate any fat on my meat, hence I only eat fillet as I cant be arsed to cut round the fatty bits on any other cut. I dont eat pork or lamb for the very same reason.

PinkPonce Posted on 23/09/2008 13:15
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

Fillet steak should always be eaten rare. Can't see why on earth you would consider that a waste Hewie.

Its only fattier cuts that should be eaten medium so you get the flavours.

Try asking for a medium / well done fillet steak in a michellin starred restaurant.

Then be prepared to get your coat and leave... well not literally.

Hewie, its all about personal choice at the end of day. All the matters is the steak was perfect.

Nero - yes.

tyrabanks - don't understand the priviledged comment... I like good food, I can cook (another of my many qualities) hence I posted a thread on the subject.

You obviously cared so much to respond.

boro_millwall Posted on 23/09/2008 13:51
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

was once is a well know restaurant with some clients and one of them asked for a his steak to be cooked well done and the waiter informed him that the chef would not do this and medium, medium rare and rare were his options.

slipshod Posted on 23/09/2008 13:53
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

What ever happened to the customer is always right the pretentious T***, if he wants it well done then F***ing cook him it, for the record i always ask for well done but thats because it then comes out medium which is perfect.

mailinator Posted on 23/09/2008 13:58
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

What's privileged about that? Seems like a really sensible, cheap, easy to cook, healthy meal.

Makes me cringe that people think that is posh and probably then say things like "I love parmos, me!"

mailinator Posted on 23/09/2008 14:05
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

slipshod, I'm struggling for a good analogy here but if someone takes immense pride in the quality of their work and you ask them to lower the standard, they won't do it.

slipshod Posted on 23/09/2008 14:07
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

Chefs these days are so far up there own arses, if a customer, yes the people who pay their wages asks for it to be cooked to their likings then they should do it.

the_throcking_man Posted on 23/09/2008 14:08
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

These ready made meals are brilliant arn't they?

Only thing i would say on Pinkys diet is that he needs to eat more fresh vegetables. particularly green vegetables like broccili. Maybe consider steaming some of these green vegetables. Very healthy.

Critical_Bill Posted on 23/09/2008 14:08

It's not as if they prepare everything with their own fair hand. They are merely quality inspectors.

mailinator Posted on 23/09/2008 14:11
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

They put their name to it Bill. Complements always go to the chef so if it's rubbish - he'll lose those Michelin stars soon enough.

MarlonD Posted on 23/09/2008 14:15
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

Slowly cooked well done pork or lamb complete with crispy fat is the food of the gods.

My favourite cut of meat is belly pork, grilled and then oven cooked to crisp it off.

PinkPonce Posted on 23/09/2008 14:20
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

Throcking man - There's a great mixture in my diet. Lots of fruit, every day, vegetables at least twice a week, and a good amount of salad.

You fat lads should really pay some attention to this.

As usual though, you're just spouting your daily dose of Arse gravy.

Mallinator - Exactly!! They probably spend more on the Parmo than I did on a good cut of Fillet steak as well!...

You only think fillet steak is pretentious because it costs 15 quid in a restaurant which sells your parmo's for a tenner.

I still can't believe someone suggests that eating fillet steak rare is a "waste"!!

By the way - for those in London - the best fillet steak I've actually eaten was at the Park Lane Hilton, windows bar. Unbelievable.

the_throcking_man Posted on 23/09/2008 14:22
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

Pinky, you probably need more fresh vegetables every day. duck eggs and cheese are probably high fat. What vegetables do you have twice a week?

PinkPonce Posted on 23/09/2008 14:39
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

Why would I need vegetables more than "at least twice a week"?

I have fruit for my breakfast - Grapes, melon, strawberry.

I have salad most days either with my lunch, OR with my evening meal - hence tonight with the ommlette...

Mixed leaf salad, Rocket, Spring Onion, Tomato, Beetroot, Basil, Mushroom...

I'll have a sunday roast and a meal with a selection of the following one night a week: peas, carrots, cauli baby corns, corn on the cob, albeit it with some mash potato and with a tangy little red wine jus.

You stick to your alphabites and beans son.

YOu are what you eat.

Thats why I'm brilliant x

the_throcking_man Posted on 23/09/2008 14:44
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

You could do with eating more of less starchy vegetables like courgettes, green beans, spinach, broccoli and cauliflower.

PinkPonce Posted on 23/09/2008 14:47
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

Yes, cos there's a load of starch in

(and I quote)

"Mixed leaf salad, Rocket, Spring Onion, Tomato, Beetroot, Basil, Mushroom, peas, carrots, cauli, baby corns, corn on the cob"

Potatos, granted.

Ponce, a fillet steak should be eaten raw in a good steak tartare or sliced thinly with a bit of garlic and lemon.

PinkPonce Posted on 23/09/2008 16:51
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

hewie, i've eaten steak like that in italy last year.

I literally drop it in the pan for no more than 30 seconds each side. Then its done.

Nero Posted on 23/09/2008 16:57
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

I remember ordering steak from a restaurant in Rome a few years ago. I stupidly thought that you'd get the side order with it regardless, so just ask for steak.

When our meals came, I literally just had a steak.

I wondered why the waiter looked at me funny.

Dr_Evil Posted on 23/09/2008 16:59

That is blue not raw, have you asked for your steak blue before? It is better than raw but only do it on really nice cuts

boro_millwall Posted on 23/09/2008 17:33
Todays MEALS - LUNCH and DINNER...

Beef Carpaccio, my current favourite starter

Steak tartare, only had this once, very nice though, but this dish does depend on the quality of the meat

Evil,

A few pointers here for you.

You couldn't tear this "diet" to shreads at all. Why? because i'm not trying to look like Johnny Bravo, nor lose weight.

I'm simply eating top quality, tasty food which is what I want to eat.

Alongside this, a few treats - in moderation - and i'm extremely happy.

Protein shakes and Egg whites don't make me happy.
