Had an argument at work about this today. Would have prefered a draw, but if anyone had to win I hoped the geordies did. At the end of the day I'm a Boro fan, Liverpool will be fighting us to finish 4th, 5th or 6th. Newcastle won't.

Pool winning means they are now four points behind us while the skunks are 11...I would have preferred a draw or toon win as that would have opened up a pretty big gap between us and the 6th placed team (pool)...toon haven't a chance of catching us this season, regardless of who they get in in Jan window...it will be too late to make up the 15 to 20 point gap that will have developed by then so I think it's important to try to get that gap between us and the next pack, which includs Pool...the sad thing is though that I knew the Skunks wouldn't have a chance of doing us a favour, even if they wanted to...

I agree darmok - Liverpool are a threat, Newcastle are not!

Vickers was absolutely right, a 7 point gap back to Liverpool would have been more preferable than the 4 points it is now. Newcastle are in dire trouble defensively and I doubt they can resolve that by simply buying in January. I was shocked at how bad they were and now fully understand why the Geordies who ring the 3 Legends are so down on their club. They will be hoping that they can at least retain their Premiership existance this season, them pushing for europe would need a miracle. We're mixing with the big boys now and we have to look for mid-table sides to beat our rivals up the top of the table and do us some favours. Get with the programme and see the bigger picture.

"We're mixing with the big boys now and we have to look for mid-table sides to beat our rivals up the top of the table and do us some favours" Nice one, dood, that's my kind of thinking too.

Newcastle and the Boro. One sitting comfortably in the top 6 the other languishing in the bottom half. Don't wake me up, I'm having the nicest dream.

I want whats best for boro before, before whats worst for Newcastle. A newcastle win would have been more beneficial to us yesterday than a Liverpool win. Thats obvious I would have thought?

Ive never known anything like it but I was made up when they scored and gutted when they threw it away again. I reckon they only lost to spite us. Its like the geordies say they are not our rivals. Liverpool/Man Utd/Evertobn our rivals now. You can keep your small time waffle about big crowds to cheer you up in the relegation battle.
