re: Your top 10.....

You seem a very chilled and soulful man CB but then you lose your rag to meatloaf and go rocking round the room, go a little bit crazy with the doors and then flit in and out of craziness with Elvis and then back down to earth with Neil Diamond.

Coleraine_boro Posted on 18/4 1:58
re: Your top 10.....

i have a very wide taste in music mate, mostly 70's and 80's.i'm probably a lot older than you as i don't recognise half of those bands.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 18/4 1:59
re: Your top 10.....

Ste - I enjoy all of your selection, although I've not got that Led Zep album (have got greatest hits) and preferred Nevermind to In Utero.

ste_north_stand Posted on 18/4 2:00
re: Your top 10.....

I just love the anger in the songs on In Utero, couldnt really argue with someone preferring Nevermind though, both amazing albums.

the_fresh_ponce Posted on 18/4 2:01
re: Your top 10.....

Surely a "greatest hits" album can't be a contender for a top 10 album chart. It's a collection of songs from a collection of albums. It shouldn't count.

ste_north_stand Posted on 18/4 2:03
re: Your top 10.....

he's got a point, replace Led Zeppelin - Remasters with Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti

Lisbonlegend Posted on 18/4 2:04
re: Your top 10.....

Ste - Yeah, I love both albums for their raw energy I just thought that they didn't really progress with In Utero they just stuck to the same formula just a little bit angrier.

FP - Yeah, greatest hits is a bit of a cheat.

ste_north_stand Posted on 18/4 2:07
re: Your top 10.....

I thought In Utero was totally different to Nevermind. You can see he's tried to make it like as anti-mainstream as possible.

Shaun71 Posted on 18/4 2:07
re: Your top 10.....

Sergeant Pepper - Beatles
Whos Next - The Who
Parachutes - Coldplay
The Man Who - Travis
Stereophonics - Performance and Cocktails

Live at Leeds - The Who
Tubular Bells - Mike Oldfield

Lisbonlegend Posted on 18/4 2:12
re: Your top 10.....

Some of the songs had the same vibe to those on Nevermind. The riff on Raape me was just a rearranged version of teen spirit.

ste_north_stand Posted on 18/4 2:13
re: Your top 10.....

Raape Me is better than Teen Spirit

the_fresh_ponce Posted on 18/4 2:13
re: Your top 10.....

Yes that's very true.

I must add, I cannot believe I'm sat up at time discussing music. What am I playing at?

Lisbonlegend Posted on 18/4 2:18
re: Your top 10.....

Ra(a)pe me is an absolute classic. Teen Spirit had too much airplay.

Yep, I'd best get some kip have to be up at 06:45 to take me dad to hospital. Oh dear.

ste_north_stand Posted on 18/4 2:19
re: Your top 10.....

bit early to have to take someone to hospital aint it?

re: Your top 10.....

He wants to set off at 07:15 for an 08:15 appointment, it's only a 20 minute drive! Still best keep him happy. A nice overnight stay for him, he's having more scans and stuff, he had to shave his groin region for some reason. I didn't want to know the rest.

That sounds like a good album??? What sort of music is that then? Is it similar to Primus - Sailing the seas of Cheese?

Rocky_Rhythm Posted on 20/4 11:19
re: Your top 10.....

Lisbon - Dogs Die in Hot Cars. Described as eccentric power pop (??!!) you've probably heard their single I Love You Cause I Have To which was all over the radio last year. Best song to try is probably Godhopping or Lounger. Melodic and Scottish with weird lyrics about fruit and dolls tea parties....My kinda of thing. Who are these Primus gadgies?!

(This is where someone tells me DDIHC split or died or something coz I've heard nothing from them for a while)

Lisbonlegend Posted on 20/4 11:23
re: Your top 10.....

Primus are an excellent crazy funk mental band with albums such as Pork Soda, Frizzle Fry, Sailing the seas of cheese, Suck on this. Some of the best songs are John the Fisherman, Jerry was a race car driver, Tommy the cat, etc.

Note for Lisbonlegend,

for your collating purposes, my entry of Billy Braggs 'Back to Basics' is in effect the same thing as 'Life's a Riot' voted for by Rockyrhythm and Redrebel, which would put it currently on three votes.

Cheers G_B much appreciated.

Your home town team got relegated last night from ANL1 after drawing 2-2 with Billingham Town. Disappointing eh?

re: Your top 10.....

Not really my home town, I was born in Stockton. I knew they were struggling this year as they had a bottom of the table clash with Tow Law the other week.

Haven't seen them play for years. I'm more interested in watching New Marske under 12's play. Hopefully they will get a win at Northallerton tonight.

By the way, you should have made this a top 50 album thing, then some more of the albums I'd forgotten about since putting my entries in could have been included.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 20/4 13:28
re: Your top 10.....

I was born in Stockton aswell but raised a Billingham boy.

Good luck for New Marske, do you manage them of just have a son plays for them?

Top 50!! I thought 10 would have been too many to get people interested.... Also it would take me 5 times as long to collate the info.

Still waiting for Rob, Fischer, Boroprogrammes, Freedom Bear, Esky, Toots, Jax, etc. to throw their hat in the ring.

Guis_Boro Posted on 20/4 13:32
re: Your top 10.....

No my lad plays for them. He joined them in November when they were joint bottom of the league on 0 points. Consolidating this season, hoping for a good one next year.

10 of my favourite albums rather than my top 10 as I couldn't limit it to 10 - and probably chosen more for reasons of sentimentality / nostalgia!

Free - Tons of Sobs
John Lennon - Imagine
Pink Floyd - DSOTM
Bowie - Hunky Dory
Neil Young - After the Goldrush
Velvet Underground - Andy Warhol
Bad Company - Bad Co
Tyranaurus Rex - Beard of Stars
Elvis Costello - Spike

G_B - How are they doing now?

If they're ever stuck for a coach then give me a shout, I'm just training for my FA level 2 and am looking to get involved in full time coaching soon.

Let me know how they get on tonight.

re: Your top 10.....

They got off to a horrendous start conceding 27 goals in the first 4 games (before my lad joined). They have built up a squad of 20 lads and are currently fourth bottom with 3 games to go. They can't finish in the relegation places now and apart from the odd blip are doing pretty well. On Sunday they played the league leaders Leven, who had lost just the one league game in two seasons, scoring oodles of goals along the way. It was a brilliant game, end to end football which could have gone either way. In the end Leven won it 5-4. Two of the Leven lads (both attackers) have been picked up by Hartlepool and will be joining them at the end of the season.

I'll mention it to the manager for future reference, you never know.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 20/4 13:55
re: Your top 10.....

What position does your lad play? 5-4, sounds like a cracker, maybe we should all sack the Riverside and come down and watch the under 12's. No overpaid prima donnas and plenty of goalmouth action.

Nice one G_B.

Guis_Boro Posted on 20/4 13:57
re: Your top 10.....

He plays centre back. I love watching them play. They are a great bunch of lads.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 20/4 14:04
re: Your top 10.....

Yeah, I bet it's like a breath of fresh air after recent Riverside experiences. I'm going to help out my mate with the kids at Stockton West End for a few weeks soon, should be good.

If I wasn't still playing myself I'd definitely start up a kids team but just don't have the time at the minute. I'll keep an eye out for their results.

Lisbonlegend, you can check on the leagues through the website in the link.

May be you can contact somebody there who can point you at a team that may need some coaching help? Just a thought.

maybe it's time for me to take another listen.

The Clash should make it on my list on another day, just not listened to them recently.

Surprised but pleased that Elvis Costello is in so many top tens.

And jax is right, Simply Red are very nice to listen to.

My favourite list so far is Beerwulfs, picked some very nice but
lesser known artists and some of the less well known albums by
better known musicians. Rory Gallagher, good choice.

Lisbon - I want to change some of mine. Anyway, after a bout of nearly dieing of the flu, I can offer my opinion of Primus. And it's not good and best left alone!!!

And they're nothing like Dogs Die to be fair.

But if you do like Primus try the Tiger Lillies

RR - Glad to hear your'e over your flu. Which ones do you want to change?

Yeah Primus are very odd and tickled me when I was a youth. Don't listen to them nowadays really but it's always good to reminisce.

re: Your top 10.....

Funtime Frank - I like your choices, one of my favourites so far.

Smogmonster - You like your rock music then, I'm a bit partial to some back in black and old metallica like puppets and Justice for all but Van Halen's not really my cup of tea.

I thought there might be a few more metalheads out there than there has been so far. I also thought U2 would have been a lot higher in the band chart....
