The_GOAT Posted on 18/4 17:58
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30pm

You know where Goals is. You know what I look like. Why not come down and try for yourself, Frank?

Ste x5 is too much anyway. Unless he is some sort of X-Man he can't be expected to divide himself like that. Plus it would mean there are 13 people meaning rotating off the pitch and rotating in goal.

Try and keep it to 12 people plus reserves is what I think would be best. Unless people want to have a rest...? Without any disrespect, I realise Roy and Piggy haven't played in a while and so I don't know how they'd feel about that?

Anyone can come down, yes, Montague.

re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30pm

Looks like we will have to advertise for more people.

Anyone want to play?

Goat - No offence taken, I welcomed the rests last week and being at least 3 stone overweight and 20 years past my prime would probably welcome a rest or two this weeks as well.

The more I play though the fitter I will get and the more use I will be.

piggy_nichol Posted on 18/4 21:37

No talent required.

The_GOAT Posted on 18/4 21:58
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30pm

piggy_nichol Posted on 18/4 22:04
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30pm

Relax for now? I wont get rid of this gut by relaxing for now.

Do you think Fergie relaxes for now 2 days before a game with half a team gone missing?

No, he would have a head redder than a red arse monkeys arse.

Relfy, I would have put your name down but I thought you would have been in the proper game at Southlands - but you would be very welcome

relfyoftheboro Posted on 18/4 22:11
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30pm

No sweat fella, like I said I enjoyed it last week and its always good making new acquaintances. Especially if they are Boro fans

No game this Tuesday because of the obvious so I would welcome the run out.

Looks like your in Relfy.
Is there any chance of an earlier call up? Was talking to Relfy tonight after Southlands league runaround and he said it was a good pitch, I`d like to try it.

Its outdoor with a 5 a side pitch that could take 6 if necessary.

Its fake grass, quite good. I wore gazelles and didnt slip over.

Astro trainers would be best I reckon.

John - You travel west along the A66 and turn off at the newport roundabout.

You take the road just before the one that would take you over the newport bridge.

Goals is about half a mile along on the left.

You turn off the a66 west at the newport roundabout. Take the exit that goes past the squash club church and the blind school.

Its the road that goes to stockton.

Goals is straight after MacMillan college

I explained this last week, one is a mate whilst t'other is more of an associate/colleague.

I'm on the lookout for more mates as we speak

Directions : A19 north, take the A66 towards Boro, off at the first junction which is signed for Cannon Park and the hosp, take the first exit off the roundabout and its about 1/2 a mile down that road on the left hand side past a college.

If you are afraid of asking the wrong people (unlikely seeing as though I've just described myself for you) then to make sure it is us, walk past and make a goat noise (Merrrrrr). If it is us we will respond in the same way.

Superb game. Just realised that the game clashes with the Newcastle match so there is not much chance of a game going ahead.

You could organise it for Thursday if anyone wants to. I won't be able to play but you might get people who were at Newcastle or are unable to play on a Wednesday/2 nights in a row.

Failing that, I forgot to ask if anyone wants to play against Esky and holgate_rocheys team on Friday night. There will probably be a different thread for that one but if anyone is interested you are quite welcome to play.

Was it a one off tournament or reoccurring?

I got there and couldn't believe how full it was after last week. I had to park on the pavement near McMillan.

re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30pm

our team are going back in for league glory, could do with a practice game or 2 to get back into the swing if you can get 5 or 6 good players together?

Lisbonlegend Posted on 21/4 0:13
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30p

There's a few different sections, one was food and leisure, not sure what todays was and their may be a couple more. The 2 finalist go on to teh next stage on May 8th and the winners go national for a chance to win a trip to Barcelona for the team.

I know some people will want to listen to the Newcastle match so I think 6.30/7 will be best but probably too early.

Just see what happens during the week.

Who was the bald goalie?

Ste - were you talking to me there?

If there's another tournament why don't you get yourselves a team in it?

ste_north_stand Posted on 21/4 0:20
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30p

anybody yeah, we ain't played for a while and theres a waiting list at Vida so we're gonna try and get ourselves a couple of practise games in the meantime, got any details of these tournaments LL?

The_GOAT Posted on 21/4 0:22
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30p

Sids friend or associate.

Because we aren't a team or good enough yet. That was the first time we got 12 people to play that weren't part of a team but it's unlikely we'll get the same people playing week in week out because of other commitments/factors.

Weeeeell he wasn't even talking to me.

cheers mate, just drop us a line on here, that'll be grand

Lisbonlegend Posted on 21/4 0:30
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30p

I will do Ste.

Can you not get into a league at Goals? I know my mates entered a team on Thursdays a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I can't play for them at the minute cos I'm playing Sat, sun, Tues, Wed an Thurs until mid May.

VIda/Soccer sensations has just been resurfaced, not played on it since though.

ste_north_stand Posted on 21/4 0:35
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30p

Yeah i know theres spaces at Goals, i'm not overly keen on the pitches to be honest. Not the surface, more the size. I think they are a bit too wide, prefer the smaller ones at Vida, makes for a faster pace. Plus the fact it's a rip off! 29.50 per team for one league game! disgraceful!

Lisbonlegend Posted on 21/4 0:39
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30p

I thought the opposite, I quite like the wider pitches. The last few times I played at Vida turned into kicking contests cos the pitches were narrow and very quick. Not so many goals scored at Goals mind! I've not played with the new 'slower' surface at Vida though so I'll reserve judgement.

How much does Vida cost?

ste_north_stand Posted on 21/4 0:43
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30p

I ain't played there since it was recovered, i've heard it's quite similar to the surface at Goals. It's about 20 quid per team at Vida.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 21/4 0:47
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30p

Yeah 20 is a lot more like it. Don't you get a 10 bar voucher at Goals aswell though to try and offset the cost.

When my season's over I'll get a team together to give you a game. I hope you're not going to get any ringers in though.

ste_north_stand Posted on 21/4 0:50
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30p

we have no need for ringers my friend, i have assembled one hell of a team! na seriously i'll be up for that after the end of the season. I think that bar voucher is just for joining, i got one in my car which shall be used tomorrow. I did hear you get a free set of strips after playing 3 league games at Goals though, not sure how true this is.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 21/4 0:55
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30p

A free set of strips! What do you get for 6 games??? Some Boots and shinpads?

ste_north_stand Posted on 21/4 1:04
re: Roll call for football at Goals Wed 7.30p

probably a letter off your bank explaining how you have gone into your overdraft.

there is a thing i found on the MFC OFFICAIL site today (note to anyone who has never ever read one of my posts before, this is tounge in cheak and not true . i think).....

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE (preferable alive, have you seen the injury list?)

BORO SCOUTS were once again in action last night at the local facility GOALS, and what a lot of goals they saw!

they were particulaly intrested after recieve a tip of from a Mr P Relf that some FMTTM'ers on a tuesday could make the grade on the real scale and were playing ON WEDNESDAY TOO (two games in two days? surely not!)

They were certainly impressed by the finnishing and pasion desplayed on the pitch, and even want to speek to a player known as 'Wedge' to learn his unique tackeling style, and how to stop it occuring in training.

one thing that certainly did impress was a player with number 21 on his back. the club feals that if they could get some stabelisers made for both him and JFH, they could get a better quote on them.

unfortunatly, the scout had to leave after watching only 1 hour, thus didn't see the final result of next goal wins which is believed to still be in progress at a 4 players against 3 ratio, one known as 'GOAT' who, insted of standing there grazing and eating shoes, actually knew how to play football.

the club would like to urgently seek anyone who knows of any of the people who played last night and offer them a no obligation, no medical 30,000 a week, 5 year contract with any clauses they want to exploit made perfectly clear to them.
