youth club you went to? I went to Sacred Heart Youth Club On Linthorpe Road from when I was 12 and was still ocassionally popping in when I was 18. I loved the place, 2 snooker tables downstairs, Table tennis upstairs except Saturday night which was disco night! I wwent there when I got my Lambretta and used to meet up with other scooter lads and often go across to Stainton YC. Other good clubs at the time: Beechwood, Whinnybanks, YMCA and even The Avenue on a Friday night - all this was circa 1968 - 74 era. The Sacred Heart is still going although only one night a week (Fridays) and is still ran by Eddie White who ran it when I was a a lad and well before that - the bloke deserves a medal for his efforts and dedication. I helped organise some fund raising a couple of years back (Football Forums with Ali Brownlee, Slaven, Proctor, Platty all giving their time for free - really good nights) Funnily enough Eddie now has a season ticket 2 seats away from me in South West Corner Upper. | |
