Just watched Iain Dowie being........

interviewed on BBC2's "Working Lunch" programme.
He came over as an intelligent and articulate guy who has come through the ranks in his football career, especially in his earlier days when he went to university.
Talked alot of common sense and appears to have many of the attributes needed in his proffesion, especially when it comes to man management.
Not putting him forward for any jobs locally but I'm sure he is destined to go to a bigger club with better resources than he currently enjoys at Palace.

Adrian Boothroyd at Watford is the sort of manager going places. Equally articulate and unlike Dowie could well be managing a Premier League team next season without having to move Clubs.

Zoo' - good point - I used to think that, as a Premiership side, you needed to look for the "bigger/well known" names when searching for a manager. Clubs are still reluctant to take a chance on newcomers or managers who may have failed in the top flight but with teams that had very little resources etc.
Its a difficult decision, a balancing act between experience and potential raw talent that may not have worked with top international players etc.

If Sam leaves, he's the next Bolton manager.

Really Mick? I have emailed Gibbo to say that Boothroyd must be considered when he lets Mac go.

Not Boothroyd - Dowie.

Still lives 5 minutes from the Reebok

I'll let you have Boothroyd.

Surely Bolton have a ready made replacement in Phil Brown.

There's a Watford mate of mine who rates Boothroyd very highly and is the reason Watford are doing so well on meagre resources.

Dowie is actually a qualified aeronautical engineer. After that football management is probably a doddle. It's hardly rocket science is it.
