OK Matey! Respect for taking the story Down-under. That little statue looks like one of the lads I work with at the Steel plant.
Poynter should have told you that we are no longer the ISTC and haven't been for a number of years!

RESPECT though!

Yeah! Who'd have thought it. Steelworkers with knitting bags! Still, it keeps us from sleeping on Nightshifts(sic)

Lisbonlegend Posted on 10/3 13:36
re: MADE IN TEESSIDE BANNER - ON SYDNEY BRIDG

I've still got your camera battery in my bag but had no idea where to send it after I lost track of you. I'm hoping to get to NZ at the end of the year. Since I last saw you I've done a 55mile bike ride for MS, lived in Teesside and Brighton, been to Paris, Stuttgart, Barcelona, Andorra and have now got a job in Slough and am living in London. Time moves too quickly!

Mate - that is fantastic. Surprised you didnt get more viewers tho as I met loads of people with boro connections when I was there. I see you blagged a few trips up the centre out of it as well. Great work.

re: MADE IN TEESSIDE BANNER - ON SYDNEY BRIDGE

being an ex employee as a crane driver on the S.H.bridge for over ten years, the link brought back many fine memories of my employment there.i wish i had known about your tour to oz as i may well have been able to have given you a private tour of the bridge that others dont get to see.in future reference though, there is a scottish lad john mcdonald who is a works supervisor based at the base of the south pylon, who even though is a mad celtic supporter has a soft spot for the boro as his idol was bobby murdoch.i am sure that he or another employee bobby harrison who hails from south bank and employed as a rigger would do their best to give a free guided tour.john also would be the guy to talk to if perhaps you fancied selling a copy of the dvd,to use at their induction course for future employees.

re: MADE IN TEESSIDE BANNER - ON SYDNEY BRIDGE

Just read the whole tour, seen the pics etc.. wow! Where can I get a copy of the DVD from??

craig_pancrack Posted on 11/3 10:03
re: MADE IN TEESSIDE BANNER - ON SYDNEY BRIDG

GIBBALAD - cheers , the media was the key and as i explain in the article, it wasnt easy and we stretched ourselves too thinly over 5 cities. If we'd just concentrated on Sydney, I'm sure we would have packed it like Perth. As for 'blagging the trip' into the bush...i paid for that!

J OROURKE - cheers mate!

ROZI - and cheers to you!

EXPATBORO - ta for your suggestions, you cant have read the article yet...as we got a VIP tour from BridgeClimb, and got the DVD in the giftshop and it is being used in staff training! And also Bob Murdoch's son, Bobby Murdoch Jr was my mate at school (Peters, South Bank)

SMOGGYNPROUD - cheers, click this link for a list of outlets and my online shop.

expatboro Posted on 13/3 16:37
re: MADE IN TEESSIDE BANNER - ON SYDNEY BRIDG

there are two groups of people that work on the bridge on a daily basis, three if you include the security staff that have been employed since the N.York terrorist attack.there is bridgeclimb which is who you went with and there is a bridge maintenance crew which includes riggers, painters, ironworkers, crane drivers, fitters and carpenters.it is these guys to which i was refering.these guys know every inch of the bridge and 'though bridgeclimb are quite informative it is the bridge workers that could tell you so much more about the bridge.only the workers could tell you how they manage to plank out the underside of the bridge and how they get the planks in position for the painters to work off etc.all the famous people that visit the bridge do not go with a group of tourists, they go directly to the south pylon office which is located at ground level and have a personal tour by an employee.i am certain that had you have made yourselves known at this office and informed them of your intentions that you would have been given the "special treatment"which includes climbing a girder or two which gives a unique view of sydney that few other than the workers get to experience.it is this crew that i thought would be interested in the dvd to use in their induction courses.in case you are interested in contacting them, their address is:S.H.Bridge maintenance depot.south pylon.lower fort st.millers point 2000 aust.

Oh look, there's me.

craig_pancrack Posted on 13/3 22:47
re: MADE IN TEESSIDE BANNER - ON SYDNEY BRIDG

expatboro - cheers for the info - im sure a trip with the maintennce crew would be great too. And definately worth writing to them about the DVD. BridgeClimb gave us their 'media climb' which was 1 to 1, not as part of a group and the 2 top climb leaders took us. Me and Ted were allowed to film on it which was most important. The trip was immense and I was more than happy with it and they were dead keen too with us being from Middlesbrough.

Lisbon - SEND ME CAM BATT THIS WEEK PLEASE - I NEED IT FOR ME TRIP !

re: MADE IN TEESSIDE BANNER - ON SYDNEY BRIDG

Read on pancrack website about a possible film about our region's identity (Teesside/Cleveland/Tees Valley/Yorkshire)
Any news on that?

craig_pancrack Posted on 14/3 0:06
re: MADE IN TEESSIDE BANNER - ON SYDNEY BRIDG

Dear TeessideCleveland - its something that ive wanted to do for about 3 years now and I still want to do it but its not going to be until next year now as I need to do the book (A Century in Stone -The Making of Teesside and the movie)for Xmas this year as it will be too late next year. Book will have lots of unpublished stuff in and unseen pictures etc. Plus it will bring in the cash to go towards making the I.D. Movie currently titled "Where the ---- are we?!" I think this film will cause a bit of discussion you could say...and has to be made. Hope this answers your question. Sorry the website is a little out of date in parts.

re: MADE IN TEESSIDE BANNER - ON SYDNEY BRIDG

Ah Craig, how goes it?
I put a thread up the other week asking if anyone knew how you were and what you were planning on next ( something like that anyway )

Good to hear that you have plans afoot for another film and a book too. Hope they are as succesful as Century In Stone.

All the best with everything. keep up the good work

craig_pancrack Posted on 14/3 3:35
re: MADE IN TEESSIDE BANNER - ON SYDNEY BRIDG

Jax 1 and only...it goes well here, thanx for asking. Ive been taking it easy after the trip down under - i was burned out! The book will be pretty nifty, i have lots of material for it that didnt go into the film but should work well in a book plus the making of..how it was made and how etc. The next film will be a bit Michael Moore...local politics, history, satire, daftness...shot in widescreen High Def!

all the best

re: MADE IN TEESSIDE BANNER - ON SYDNEY BRIDG

LAZENBY SMOGGIE - now then...nothing as such due to other commitments, to try and get the funding for a big monument, following the pillars, plaques and tub etc put up by ERA, wouldn't be easy. While its good to have the miners remembered etc. the ERA pieces are small, hardly made the news and the plaques have incorrect facts. But considering the desperate state of Eston, they do improve the place. It s a shame they wouldnt work with any other historians as maybe we could be now looking at a factually correct and epic monument. The idea isnt dead , just on the back burner for a while.

Jax1 - cheers and yes, any media oppo and I'm in ! Watch out 2007.
(this year is my gap year!)

XBoroX - who are you then ??? Krissy i bet !
