Are you renewing your season ticket ?

If not, what incentives could the club offer to convince you to renew ?

Big_Shot Posted on 28/3 16:01

Yes, so no incentives are needed. A few good signings would be nice though.

RaRaRasputin Posted on 28/3 16:05
re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

Touch and go due to getting a much larger mortgage and raises in heat and light council tax etc.
The obvious incentive therefore is make it a lot cheaper!
Also how about trying to win every league game?

I'm renewing.

The_Lizards_Jumpers Posted on 28/3 16:07
re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

I don't think the players ever go out not wanting to win a game.

The fact that they dont is down to the other team trying to win as well, a lack of effort should never be an excuse for a defeat.

papa_smog Posted on 28/3 16:07
re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

No.
I have missed Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, WBA and Bolton. I will also be missing Newcastle.
Have missed them due to being busy but might as well not have a season ticket as could have gone to every game I've seen for loads less.
In other words, people like me know that they can go to most games without paying for all and no fear of missing out.

bandito Posted on 28/3 16:08
re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

Definatley renewing as always

FW_2 Posted on 28/3 16:08
re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

I can't see them dropping prices or offering discounts - therefore, the best way to guarantee renewals is, as Big_Shot says, to get some good signings. But preferably earlier in the summer and not left to the last minute.

I'll be renewing, in my sad little existence this has easily been the best time to be a Boro fan.

Except for the gubbings by Sunderland and Villa, but I guess the latter was even harder to stomach for some posters on this board, what you say Nord?

green_beret20 Posted on 28/3 16:09
re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

I'm not.

Change in circumstances which starts in about five weeks. I can't commit to buying a season ticket, so I'll be picking and choosing my games.

RaRaRasputin Posted on 28/3 16:11
re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

Im not saying the players arent trying, it was the recent practice of fielding weakened teams in the league and Ive never got over the 1st day of the season when we never attempted to beat liverpool at home.

PumpingGnome Posted on 28/3 16:19
re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

Dropped out this season for money reasons - MFC or the taxman. Taxman was more persuasive. Next season who knows? I used to buy 3 season tickets for me and the 2 lads but they can't make their minds up. Not only that, the big 'un will be 16 and that will mean at least 1200 outlay by the look of things. I'd struggle to justify that. The alternative is just to get one for myself and leave the missus with all 3 offspringlets. That would go down a treat I can tell you.

In short, dunno, but the reason will be 100% money related.

Yes will be renewing with my 7 year old daughter.

WE sit in the south stand which was known as the family enclosure so why is there only one stand that gives a good discount for under nines? there `should be good concessions in every stand' not just the stand where they struggled to sell season tickets for.

bandito Posted on 28/3 16:32

Nord, does a full house cause intimidation amongst players, ie, fans getting on players back from kick off. Does my head in, I'm sure sometimes it gets through to the players and they maybe take a bad first touch, etc?

papa_smog Posted on 28/3 16:37
re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

Under 16s season tickets should be 19 for the season.
Helps secure next generation of fans.
Helps parents buy full price ticket/s and still take the kids along without going bankrupt.
Great publicity.
It's not like they will be taking up seats that others would have paid full price for.
Also, 190 for students, unemployed, over 65s.
ps. I don't fall into any of these groups.

re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

papa smog i think you're bang on there. It would bring so many youngsters into the ground, the only problem you'd have would be with long term fans complaining that they should be getting the discounts. I'm not exactly long term cos i'm only 21 and have had an st for 12 years now, but it would such a good idea. A bit like a business outlay, short term loss for potential long term longevity.

re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

No..times 2.
Reason 1. Cost. My sons ticket was 200+(can remember exactly) which i think is far too much to charge a 12 year old to watch football. 5 a match anywhere in the ground and id consider renewing.
Reason 2. KO times. i know sky put plenty of money in too football, but i believe matches should KO at 3pm on a saturday.
Our first home KO at 3pm on a saturday in this 2005-06 season was December 31st.
Im still going to go to matches, but im going to go when it suits me........not Sky.

I will be renewing but a few incentives would not go a miss. i would love there to be better discounts for children in the North East corner. i would love to be able to take my 2 children, but i cannot afford it. there should be discounts for OAP and students. but i would not give discounts to the unemployed. I just dont agree with the unemployed getting discounts for anything, it makes my blood boil that they get discount for events all over. when i have to work for my money and dont get any discounts.

re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

I know no club can be too successful, but when we are are competing in CC, FA, and UEFA cup, even Season ticket holders find it hard to attend all the games, so trying to attract non-season tickets holders to cup games(when they cant even afford a ST) without offering incentives is going to be even more difficult for the club.
One way to guarantee bigger crowds for cup games is to distribute cup final tickets to those who attend the most cup games. Why should a ST holder who doesnt go to any cup game be guaranteed a Final ticket??
I think its only fair that those who have travelled away to watch boro in europe this season should get first shout on tickets for the final.
BTW Im a ST holder and havent been to any UEFA away game.

borodrew Posted on 28/3 18:03
re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

bit of research for the club, good stuff.

im renewing. always have always will, no matter what league were in, just the way it is. but while were still as ambitious as we are, even more so.

with regards to football matters, and possible reasons not to renew, a lot of the qualms was mainly the first part of the season. where the team seemed to turn up for certain games and look disinterested. i know this obviously wasnt intended, but it felt like everyone was pulling in different directions in the dressing room or something similar.

games like charlton, portsmouth and sunderland, all at home, in front of expectant crowds, and at that time i thought, impatient crowds, the team didnt look at it. lacking sharpness, and certain players looking like they didnt want to play for us.

other than them select few(4 or 5) home games i think its been a fairly decent season, certainly entertaining.

a lot of people from day one had problems with the manager i think too, which i couldnt understand, he was judged on post match interviews, certain words used and appearance rather than what the team done on the pitch.

i think hes slowly changing and learning from this and fans are slowly being won which may help. things like honest in interviews, playing 2 up top at home etc is slowly winning those doubters. the rotations worked a treat too recently.

theres a lot of fans like that, and if the club win those people over, then we will be back to a near full house. another creative midfielder might help too.

other than that, keep up the good work of late.

re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

Oh yes, back to the original question.

Of course I'm renewing. This season would have been the one that would have put me off if any. I had to miss most of the first half of the season's matches due to the ridiculous k/o times.

What I really think would be better was if you could change your seat without losing your redbook status. I don't see why you should have to go back to white book just for changing location within the ground.

In the next year or two I'll be wanting to get a season ticket for my daughter which means switching seats and losing my red book status. Penalised for bringing the club more revenue?

Wrooooooooong......so wrong!

Although I don't think the chap who has to sit behind me would shed any tears.

I'll leave this thread now........as you were folks.......

re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

10 years ago Mr Gibson asked me and many others to join him in is dreams.

Nothings has changed for me. The people at the club are doing there best to move it forward, away from the Middlesbrough I started following. They may not get it right all the time, but I still want to be part of those dreams.

Me and my lad will renew.

Ms C - We moved from west to east and back again, kept the same Patron numbers. It's fine.

re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

I think there should be a reduction in prices though. Most people are being stretched. Failing an actual reduction, throw in some cup games free or guarantee season ticketholders get in cup games for a fiver.

Oh and reduce the number of teams in the champions league to boost the prestige of the UEFA cup.

re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

Definitely, North Stand, without doubt, planning on moving to block 17 this season if i can, better atmosphere. I already sit in the north stand but block 17 sounds great.

re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

Yes most definitely, although if the club is offering the standard of the majority of this season's league football as an incentive then they could be in for a nasty shock, it's ok resting your players before cup games but they should remember that the league is the bread and butter, cup games are an extra. Of course an incentive could be cup games included in price of ST.

re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

There's no way that Nord is G_S...

Bandito, if you know him so well (as you're so desperatly trying to portray) then why are you asking him such trivial questions over the internet such as "how are the geese" etc.

Poor attempt mate.

ONLY if they buy a decent centre half to partner Riggot.

The rest of the defence are shoite!

Yes

re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

Yes but would like us to run out to Power Game again this pig bag shyte is nonsense. The crowd look like performing seals clapping away to it!! Well past its sell by date now by 6 years!
Power Game on the other hand is classic!

jason040270 Posted on 28/3 20:31
re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

Power game may be a classic, but we are trying to go forwards not backwards.

This is fantastic! Will you do a weakly column on here.

smigga Posted on 28/3 20:39
re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

You can still have a classic tune and move forwards! Look at Everton with Z Cars they have had it for years through thick and thin and that is their tune!!
We should never have changed it in my opinion!!
I might do another column on here Briggsy's Boro duvet if it stops you doing one with your spelling ability!
WEAKLY is possibly the worst attempt at spelling WEEKLY I have ever witnessed! Get back to school!

re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

Certainly will be.

The success of the final 8 weeks will certainly determine what the total figure of season ticket sales will be. But for me, this season we've seen many positives which bode well for next season and the future of the club.

walesie Posted on 29/3 18:12
re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

Nord of Nidd,

As a top class defender, you must get frustrated playing in front of Sunday league style crowds. If you ever decide to move on to greener pastures, I'm sure we at Sunderland could sacrifice Gary Breen to make room for you

EDIT - just to add, you can even pick the manner in which we sacrifice him, as long as we get to put his head on a stick, I don't mind ;-)

re: Are you renewing your season ticket ?

Think I'll be getting a season ticket for the first time ever next season.

I've always been able to get in free to the games I really want to see since I've got some connections at the club, but I feel worse about it every time I do it. Next season I'll be in the North Stand, paying for my seat and feeling a lot better about it.

I want to be a supporter, instead of just another fan!

bandito Posted on 30/3 15:28

it was in the gazette last night about Soutgate posting on "a website forum". He as good as admitted it. Who said it was a hoax?

The date of birth question's right, by the way.
