Ooo Theres a woman behind me who takes a mickey mouse teddy, and she has bought a scarf and hat and badges for it!! She treats it like her child!!! Claps its hands when we score and everything!! It gets quite annoying after an entire season of the thing, was mockable at first, now just annoys me.

Barb and Gray (Mickey's mam and dad!)are the ones who drive from Bristol to every home game no matter what the weather, or the time of the match. There pic is on Gazette website tonight.

so whatever you dont take to football matches the following items as you will be frowned upon..

Teddies
cameras
mobile phones
flasks
radios
funny hats
balloons
beach balls

anybody got anymore to add to the list, i am sure there are plenty members of the fun Police on here who can add to it.

they would rather see an empty seat rather than god forbid a teddy bear or a camera

At least the women are turning up to the matches.
Some blokes would rather stay in the pub with their beers instead of getting to the ground with their bears.
If women want to take a teddy what is the problem?

re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

Jason...sorry to be a bit of a pedant but your use of apostrophes has gone a bit haywire..You don't use apostrophes for plurals, you only use them for possessives or when a letter has been missed out.
eg
the hat's red ( ie the hat is red- letter missing)
or
the hat's bobble has fallen off (ie possessive..belonging to the hat)
or
the hats are red ( ie lots of hats)...no apostrophe

re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

Birds at footie, thats the entire problem. It explains the atmosphere or lack of, the PC types stoppping anyone swearing standing smoking etc, the fact blokes have to sit and constantly explain who is the home and away team, what a free kick is etc. which in turn means less atmosphere as they are too busy placating their women to shout for their team.

Let fellas enjoy their matchday and go and shop or moan about your neighbours or whatever you did before you decided to suddenly support the boro so as to ruin one of the last bastions of male enjoyment, it doesnt or shouldnt involve you.

jason040270 Posted on 24/4 19:55
re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

Then the only people to blame are the blokes who bring there wifes, girlfriends and daughters to football matches, maybe they should be at home doing the ironing and watching the saturday afternoon matinee.

it might be a better idea if the women where only allowed in the west stand. then the club could save money by doing away with the catering staff, the women could run in and make tea and cakes for the directors and Ra Ra's.

Then true Fans with there beer and pies could sing there hearts out in the Other Stands...

LoL i cannot believe you would rather see an empty seat than have a women sat in it.

freethenorton7 Posted on 24/4 20:01
re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

As far as empty seats are concerned I am not a geordie and am therefore not obsessed with full seats.

Possibly more of the fellas who used to go would come back if they werent surrounded by women knitting at the match, unable to swear in case they offend someones wife etc.

jason040270 Posted on 24/4 20:07
re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

Then maybe if someones wife is easily offended they should change their seat to a nice one in the west stand.

i think most the ladies that go to the match know the score and are not easily offended,

there are a few and for those that are offended, you really are in the wrong stand

freethenorton7 Posted on 24/4 20:11
re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

Maybe they should go back to whatever they were doing before they decided football was fashionable or they realised fellas enjoyed themselves so much at matches and wanted to spoil it?

Knitting at a match ffs, thats were banning orders SHOULD come in.

jason040270 Posted on 24/4 20:14
re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

i have never seen anyone knitting at the match, where do you sit?

if they are knitting then they really should be at home doing it, not at a football match, what would happen if someone spiked there hot choclate, they could go mental. turning fans around them into Kebabs with the No5 knitting needles

freethenorton7 Posted on 24/4 20:22
re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

In the north stand and yes I have seen women knitting during the game in this stand.

I know several mates who have stopped going to the footie because they cant stand the antiseptically clean environment that is now your average football stadium. It is a direct result of women going all of a sudden, be it because it is fashionable or to spoil things.

No swearing, no offensive chanting, no smoking, no standing, its a passionate arena, or used to be and all of the above have contributed to diluting the atmosphere. This is as a direct result of women finding footie trendy these days. I wonder how many of them supported the Boro during some of the bad times? less than 1% of the women that go now I would bet.

janplanner Posted on 24/4 20:25

norton7, you clearly don't know your history, or, i doubt, any women. grow up.

jason040270 Posted on 24/4 20:26
re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

I think it is more to do with Health and Safety and the Taylor Report.

they are the ones who have killed the atmosphere.

I dont think ladies have killed the game. i think that women who go to matches know the score

MsCurly Posted on 24/4 20:28

If it wasn't my sole purpose in life to spoil things for norton7, then it is now.

Please tell me where you sit love, so that I can get my ticket next to you next season.

re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

oh you cant beat a good cross stitch, but it may become a bit fiddly when your fingers get cold in January. maybe you can warm them by sticking them down Norton7 throat

freethenorton7 Posted on 24/4 20:35
re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

Jan, I do know my history(and several women as it goes) I remember the days at ayresome park and I seem to remember it being a more or less 100% male zone, at least in the holgate, where I stood week after week. It was noisy, passionate, knowledgeable, sometimes violent and nasty but great, great fun.

Go to the riverside now and it is a million miles away from any of the passion and enjoyment from those days. How anyone can justify women at matchs when they get their knitting out is simply ludicrous.

Maybe make a small stand for them with knitting patterns on the tvs in the concourse at half time, flower arranging sessions during the game, comfy heated seats, hot drink holders, make up tips given over head sets for them all.

But given we give them all that, then let the proper footie fans stand, swear, shout, smoke, upset the opposition with whatever chants are deemed neccessary, upset their fans with anything possible, generally have a good day out supporting the team we are passionate about.

The alternative is go back to whatever you used to do and leave the people who actually care about the boro to get on with our fun.

Mscurly, you prove my point entirely.

re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

I'm lead to believe my mother may have been a woman. Not only did she attend football matches, she played the trombone and tended an allotment (not all at the same time you understand). I don't think it's women that need to be dissuaded from football grounds. Just the neanderthals.

jd1973 Posted on 24/4 20:54
re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

"It was noisy, passionate, knowledgeable, sometimes violent and nasty but great, great fun."

And maybe that's exactly why not many women went in the Holgate end despite their love of football - because of cretins like you who revelled in the poisonous atmospheres that violence created at football games in the 80's.

I think it should be neanderthal's like you who should be banned from football - alternatively if you like violence and nastiness why don't you sign up for the Armed Forces and go and fight in Iraq or Afghanistan - that seems more like your idea of fun.

freethenorton7 Posted on 24/4 20:54

Well done for spotting the error in grammar, quite an achievement. Maybe thats what women should do on match days instead of spoiling it for the fans, spot grammatical mistakes in typing.

Fyi I have done my time in the army thanks, yes i enjoyed it as I am proud of my service. You?

I dont dislike women rilo, I love several, they should however stay away from something they quite clearly dont understand.

Nope Jan, I dont go spoiling womens entertainment, many love shopping I dont, so I dont pollute their day by going shopping with them. I dont enjoy the sound of music so if i go to my mother house and she is watching it I will leave and pop by later. I dont knit so dont get involved with that either. I dont enjoy watching eastenders or any other soap for that matter so I leave the missus to enjoy that in peace.

Possibly your more intolerant of others than I am jan, I dont mind sharing the planet with others, I do mind sharing a football stadium with people who knit during it.

I do mind having to mind my p's and q's at a passionate game because I might offend a womans sensibilities or even worse offend a man who has been brow-beaten into taking his missus along to spoil his fun and now feels all the other fellas should suffer too.

Jason, your about as funny as alan shearer, I dont have to come on here and build bridges it is a virtual notice board. As a matter of interest have you ever tried your hilarity regarding the navy with anyone who has actually served in that force? Thought not.

I find this hard to believe. How can you you get knitting needles into a football ground? Aren't you searched on the way in? These things could be used as weapons and could be highly dangerous in the wrong hands. I'm sure it says something on the ticket. Or isn't there a sign over the turnstile saying what you can't take in. If knitting needles aren't on that list then they fooking should be.

freethenorton7 Posted on 24/4 21:30
re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

That is one alternative jan, the other would be for women to stop spoiling mens fun/being in on the fashion that is football and go back to whatever the vast majority of them were doing before they began coming to the boro games.

How many of these women who now sit their with their knitting actually supported the boro before the premiership? Very few I would imagine, it is not in their blood, they have no conception of what it means to be a true football, never mind boro, fan.

I still go to the footie depite its dilution of passion and will continue to do so, many fellas I know dont anymore due to this very dilution of passion, knowledge and actual support of the team.

Dumped lately? No why would the good missus ever consider doing that, she knows a good catch when she finds one.

Sky tv have "helped" to make it fashionable for women to go to the football, you are right in that sense perhaps.

Neither Hillsbrough or sky have deemed knitting as a prerequisite at football, however.

I am whining because I am stating my point with passion? Shouldnt you be giving your fella a hard time for having a few pints after work or better still making him his supper at this time of night.

I think I did state the vast majority at some point cris, their are obvious exceptions to every rule, few and far between though they actually are. I would guess 99.9% of the new generation of fashionable/spoil fellas day out lady fans arent that arsed win lose or draw, think it is correct for everyone to remain seated, dont approve of foul language at matchs, agree with all seaters, think none smoking stadia are a great idea, think some songs directed at away fans have no place in todays game, have little or no true passion about the team that matters so much to me etc.

Premiership era or not I suppose I should have asked hells.

of all the women i know who go to matches, and have for many years, i can't think of one that fits your stereotype. you must know some odd women.

it seems to me you have a tiny weeny chip on your shoulder about the loss of the one of the last bastions of male domination. that is a shame, because we aren't going away, we passionately delight in being at the match.

either that or you're really tlj after a tonne?

I'd like to thank "freethenorton7" for his braindead and outdated opinions have helped take a slightly michevious and harmless rant into a thread where he can prove to everyone just how biggoted and silly he really is.

Freethenorton7 you are an absolute nob.I can only pity your poor wife.I presume you have her chained up in the kitchen whilst you are out doing whatever pleases you.
Maybe our lady supporters should get together and donate some money and buy a load of season tickets surrounding your seat and isolate you.Whenever there is a lull in play,we can stand up and sing "Are you watching that d**khead over there"Thats one way of getting the attention that you desperately seek.Isn't it?

If someone wants to take a teddy etc to a game who the fook has the right to tell them not to. At least they go and support the club. I don't have a problem with anyone going to get behind the Boro. I've been going since the Rioch days so I'm not a newcomer either.

re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

Freethenorton 7.

From reading the post i agree with you on some points.

However, I think your the type of guy that simply enjoyed going to the Holgate for a pissup, laugh, bit of banter with the away fans and and a bit of a whinge and a cheer at the lads when we either miss or score.

You don't come across as a fan, if you were a fan you would still be going to the games now. Regardless of the 'lack of atmosphere'. If you want this go in the North stand towards the West it's nearly always bouncing there.

freethenorton7 Posted on 25/4 5:47
re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

Perhaps you should learn to read properly then redsox, I still go to the games, always will, as stated in this very thread. I also never whinge at my team whilst they are playing, my S patron season ticket is in the north stand and have never booed my team in my entire life, unlike others.

Expat, no I do earn a reasonable enough living whereby my lovely missus doesnt have to work, she has a great life, is not chained to the kitchen and seems very content.

Jan, I stick by what I said anyone who "quite likes" to go to the match is obviously a woman.

Unless Teddy's head comes off to reveal an Uzi 9mm or an M16, women have every right to take them.
We could of course ban women from matches, get rid of Sky deals and get back to the good old days.
In that case I look forward to seeing us play Barrow, Southend and <shudder> Blunderland in the lower leagues.

Please note - I draw the line to bringing Teddies to matches when Comfy turns up in one, he hasn't got the thighs for them.

I'm with norton. We should ban women from football matches, rip out all the seats, take the roof off, hand out a few bananas for chucking and shout racist abuse at those coloured chaps who run around on the field, even if they play for our team.

I had a terrible nightmare last night. It started out as a nice dream. I was a camera man at a football stadium on the crowd cam. After some scouring I'd just found a nice clutch of good looking birds that I could concentrate on for the rest of the match. Then suddenly, I heard the directors voice in my head phones saying
"zoom in on those fat geordies with no shirts on."

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!

re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

Lads lads calm down. I am a lady I do not take teddies to the match although my mam does take a rug (even in August). I love the Boro as much as any bloke and will sing, abuse the ref have a pint at half time and a bet before the game. I am not a minger either. My point is er well I'm not sure really but girls at football are not the reason the atmosphere has changed at matches - I used to go to Ayresome from being 11, football has grown up and if it wasn't for women going to the matches we wouldn't be in the Riverside or the Premier League! I agree it is said to take a teddy to the match but its just as sad to be a bloke who thinks girls don't belong at footie matches. Who else would care if Franck had changed his hairstyle? (I'm being ironic)

elnino100 Posted on 25/4 23:17
re: Women who take Boro related teddies....

At the risk of being shot down and bracketed in with the tit that is norton7, I do have a few problems with SOME women who go to matches.

In the seat next to me a bird is there who has a ST as her fella has bought her it. She is in her 2nd season now and still does not have a clue what is going on. I'm not joking, this bird is as bright as a blackout.

Also, there is a woman who sits about three rows behind me who constantly complains about my standing and swearing.

Also, my cousin, female, 33 years old, professes to love the Boro, is missing the semi on Thursday as she wanted to buy the new Tomb Raider game instead, couldn't afford both!! ARGHHHH

Things like that do annoy the tits off me, but I'm not so stupid as to stereotype every woman into those that annoy me.

Otherwise let the women go, more fans in the stadium paying money, the better!!

Well, that just about sums you up doesn't it? Have a think about how offensive that statement is.
Go to the game with those three words in mind and you and those around you may well have an enjoyable day.
Some of you dont realise how lucky you are to be able to go to the game.I would love to be sat in your seat come match day, teddy bears, knitting needles, fat or ugly smelly men or women included.Sure beats sitting at my computer listening to Bernie from a distance of 12,000 miles.

remember even father ted helped mrs doyle understand the beautiful game by buying her the wonderfully entitled 'Understanding Football for Women' for the priests over 75 five a side football competition...........

Things About Footy

Women should only be there to serve behind the bar and clean the bogs (presumably servers must be pretty as all mingers must be bog cleaners).

Swearing and farting are compulsory to qualify you as a proper football fan
