You can add me as well please - and piggy and Tom (piggy's son)
Also put David and Martyn

Good game today lads. I'll play next week if its on.

If you can fit me thats sound. If not I'll play the following week.

chboro Posted on 29/5 18:11
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

I think we will get one more for this week so it shouldn't be a problem fitting you in.

Boro85 Posted on 29/5 18:12
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

Im not im sure someone will drop out before then. I wont be playing if i havent found the ability to walk by then.

20_Briggsy Posted on 29/5 18:12
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

Wont 8v8 be a bit cramped? Put me down as first reserve or something.

chboro Posted on 29/5 18:17
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

Shut up 85, you'd think you were as fat as me the way you complain

We have played 8v8 before, it all depends on how the game is played as to whether it feels cramped - 7 v 7 on Saturday was cramped in the middle, but we have a few different players this week that don't battle in the middle so I don't think it woud be too bad.

I personally think esky will drop out before Sunday anyway

piggy_nichol Posted on 29/5 18:22
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

Theres usually one or two dont show up anyway so we might as well name 8 v 8.

I'm usually 20 yards behind the play anyway, so that should space things out a bit.

A_New_Era Posted on 29/5 18:26
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

looking at the list, all the players have played last couple of weeks without dropping out so i think there more chance pf us getting another player than there is of someone dropping ou

piggy_nichol Posted on 29/5 18:27
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

8 v 7 is ok as well, as long as we get the sides right.

Its better than telling the extra man to piss off home.

chboro Posted on 29/5 18:33
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

If we all take the opposite colour to the team we are put on too as a just incase, there shouldn't be a problem with evening the teams up.

Yes, no problem Esky.

piggy_nichol Posted on 30/5 9:36
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

Ok, thats a 7 a side pitch booked for 2pm on Sunday.

And its gone up. 47.50.

Just as well its off peak, the normal price would be 61.50.

I'm going to pack in the gerbil breeding and get into pitch hire. Thats more than a quid a minute. I might be tempted to move out of premium rate sex chat lines business as well at those prices.

chboro Posted on 30/5 9:40
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

If it gets too expensive we could look elsewhere - Southlands or Rye Hills school in Redcar or similar. The pitches aren't as good though, but the are only about 2 - 2.50 normally.

I was thinking about the pitches the other day - not sure how much the five aside pitches are but x it by ten and add the two 7 aside pitch prices - they are making a fair few bob an hour when they are all in use.

piggy_nichol Posted on 30/5 9:46
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

I'm happy to play elsewhere. I think though that a lot of the alternatives might require a block booking, maybe not. Mind you, the game is getting a bit more established now. Its when the season starts again that it gets harder to fill the spots. Although if it was to be a sunday, there should be fewer boro games switched this season.

Just seems such a rip off at nearly 50 quid for an hour, 60+ for midweek.

captain5 Posted on 30/5 9:48
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

Definitely get out of the phone lines, piggy, unless you can get someone else in to handle the calls.

Anybody got any problems with these teams??

piggy_nichol Posted on 1/6 12:09
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

Think we might get beat there.

Without wanting to offend anyone on my team, theres only Briggsy who plays like he has seen a football previously.

Although I havent seen Boro85 or Boro Daley play, so if those two are ringers we might be ok.

captain5 Posted on 1/6 12:12
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

Boro85 is excellent in a get in the way stylee.

We'll be alright. They've got Esky on their team.

Boro85 Posted on 1/6 12:21
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

I have no footballing talent whatsoever. Im just a lanky git who trys to get in the way like Capt' said.

captain5 Posted on 1/6 12:56
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

So, I'm guessing I have to rearrange these teams??

I'm assuming Piggy wants to be on Martyn's team.

piggy_nichol Posted on 1/6 13:01
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

I dont mind really Capt.

But when my team is getting beat I usually feel a bit guilty, so it might be good to put the better players on my team.

Only thing I would suggest with the sides is to have Esky and chboro on different teams (as you have done)if they want to be goalies.

captain5 Posted on 1/6 13:04
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

I did actually do that deliberately.

I've only played a couple of weeks so don't know who everyone is and how good they are.

If someone else wants to try and pick teams I'll be more than happy to defer.

6 actually - 1 in the first and 5 in the second so ner

Should have been much more tho - shots on tartget to goals scored ratio for our opposition was embarressing

captain5 Posted on 1/6 16:19
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

Second game was 6-5 to them.

chboro Posted on 1/6 16:21
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

Second game was 5 each - give yer head a shake, with a debatable 6-5 to us with the Rev's beautiful header in the dieing seconds(after taking out their keeper)

captain5 Posted on 1/6 16:27
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

That was to equalise.

My shoddy across the box pass straight to them gave them the winner.

chboro Posted on 1/6 16:31
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

Nope you lost count - we scored two, they scored three, we scored two more, they scored two (one from dodgy pass) and we scored last - nearly scored again in the dieing seconds.

Copy of email from Rely:

"Alright lads,

Another good showing last night and despite one team being a man down they did themselves proud and remained unbeaten in their games. Things seem to be going really well at the minute so Ive again booked two pitches. If you want to play just reply asap."

Esky's not a terrible player, he's just a lazy barsteward.

I've even contemplated sticking money to the ball to get him to chase it with a bit more vigour.

apl, you can have my spot if you like (sorry ch)

My hamstring is still very sore, i cant jog on it yet so i doubt itll be any good running around on sunday. Put me down for next week (presuming we play) and ill drop out this week.

If anyone else drops out ill play if i have to, but id rather give it a rest this week and play the following week.

Goals is the place near the old speedway track, isn`t it?
Can somebody meet me outside (someone I`ll recognise) as I`ve only played there once before.

Would they mind holding my hand?

It is on Norton Rd - meet in reception, you can't miss us really. If you are running late - will be on one of the 7 aside pitches - there is only two so it's a 50/50 chance

Reserve:

Normally 3 each - if 16 turn up I think that will stay the price, if people don't show then obviously we will have to cover for them not showing - not fair on the person booking the pitch if they have to cover for them.

KrivoyRog Posted on 3/6 14:40
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

Just casually flicking through the thread. I'm knacked so can't play but notice that APL1970 has wangled another game. Not got a problem with that but I would say to him that that's me on Tuesday and Boro85 now who have stepped down for you to play and you can't even say thanks to either of us.

Says a lot about you.

apl1970 Posted on 3/6 14:46
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

I wish you`d turned up on Tuesday, gaz didn`t and caps team only had 6.

I`m only in because of injury. If J.Terry came off today due to injury, do you think his replacement would thank him? I don`t.

Not sure the word wangle is right, I was just next in line.

As for Tuesday you said if anyone came along they could play, if not, you`d give it a go.

KrivoyRog Posted on 3/6 21:03
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

Brilliant. The John Terry line is a classic. You just don't get it, do you? Nevermind.

Enjoy your game, APL1970.

chboro Posted on 3/6 21:11
re: Footy at goals, Sunday 4th June, 2pm

You should have said thankyou because they chose to drop out - if there hadn't have been any reserves they would still have played - injured or not so it would have been nice/polite to say cheers for the place.

And as for driving after talikng the Heroin - it's never been a problem in the past

You can add him to the reserves but there is already one there - if two drop out then he can play.
