Extratomato, just trying to remember some of the Flatts Lane lads from school.. the only one I can think of is Neil Forrest. Wondered if you knew him. Used to knock around in Normanby and Flatts Lane in the mid/late 80's. Spent a lot of time in Tittybottle park.

Goal_Scrounger Posted on 6/6 15:54

Bloody hell..its bringing back some memories. Remember Fudgy, turned into quite a handy snooker player if I remember. Craig was my best mate for years. I was born a week after him in Parkside and his and my parents are best buddies. haven't seen Craig for years after I left Eston and now in sunny Wigan. Mr Phil White, or chalky as he was/is affectionatley known. Had a bit of contact with Phil a few years ago through Friends Reunited. Always remember your dog, that chocolate brown lab. Phil, remember those games of footy on the grass at the side of the tennis courts with trees as posts??

I came into 3rd year junior in 82 when cally priamry shut. Did you do the country dancing bit??

I'm from California (the Eston version that is). Got a cracking view of Eston hills from the bedrooom window so can see all the little arsonist wanny's plying their trade during the summer! Went to the James' school, then the Peters! Think the Normanby and Stap have gone WAAAAY down hill with drugs 'n' violence. The landlord of the N/by got his head stoved in during the UEFA cup match for telling knobbers to stop going to the offy for beer....now the place has loads of heavies on the door! They were frisking punters on the way in last week, which I have no complaints about cos they might find the lil cunnys carrying talcum!

re: Who's from normanby on here then?

Fine Goal Scrounger ta very much. Hope you are ok. I think that Dogzdik needs to give us more clues. I think his initials might be MD, JC or GS but I'm not sure.

As a point of interest, when did Miss Scroungette go to her first Boro match? We are getting Mini Boro Betty a season ticket as there is a spare seat next to ours, but are not sure if she could manage a full match yet.

I think I will see what its like in Toytown first.

I started Gilly in 96, and in Form 03 with Mr Webster as Tutor. I think he left in 97 due to illness.

His jokes were legendary.

Wonder how he is doing now?

deano2k12 Posted on 8/6 10:35
re: Who's from normanby on here then?

aye dont insult jim royle man

nowhere near as fat as graveling

i wonder if he finally went blind

Get_your_rat_out Posted on 8/6 10:44
re: Who's from normanby on here then?

Apparently he did go blind, i remember him walking round with his white cane, smacking everyone with it.

He told everyone he use to be in the army, until i rightly pointed out to him that the only army he could of joined would of been the salvation army, he then proceeded to hit me with his cane the fat siht

Nellmad Posted on 8/6 11:59
re: Who's from normanby on here then?

Bloody hell you young'uns don't know what its like to be old, I used to get on the trolley bus at Normanby to go and watch South Bank play in the northern league, the fare was tuppence and me Mam gave me a penny for a dainty to eat at the match, that's old.

PS the dainty was a big toffee that lasted almost the whole game

Get_your_rat_out Posted on 8/6 12:27
re: Who's from normanby on here then?

tuppence? dainty? what are you on about, i only sort of know what tuppence means and im pretty sure you dont mean it like that!!!

London_Boro Posted on 8/6 12:29
re: Who's from normanby on here then?

GYRO - You can not and have never been able to pay for your bus fare with minge !

borobetty Posted on 8/6 12:30
re: Who's from normanby on here then?

Do you live at the top of Normanby Road Dogzdik with a white van and a big telly?

Get_your_rat_out Posted on 8/6 12:31
re: Who's from normanby on here then?

what a great job a bus driver would be though if you could!

London_Boro Posted on 8/6 12:41
re: Who's from normanby on here then?

The bus would never get anywhere. The driver would be far too busy.

Is it illegal to eat whilst driving?

Get_your_rat_out Posted on 8/6 12:43
re: Who's from normanby on here then?

its only illegal if you are eating with one of your hands, so i dont think it would be if both your hands are on the steering wheel!

yes eating one of your hands is illegal

Eating one of your hands?

Is that classed as canibalism?

re: Who's from normanby on here then?

My eldest was 5 when she first went to a game borobetty (Birmingham at home in the 2004/5 season). She loved it, paid attention throughout and has been several times since.

My youngest, however, went at 4 year old because we had a spare ticket and it would have been wasted if no one went(Wigan at home this season) and he was bored still after 5 minutes (to be fair, so was I!).

I reckon 6 is a good age. I was 6 when I first went!

Ricard00 Posted on 8/6 13:42

Goal_Scrounger, sounds like it.

Do I know you?

You are good at this Borobetty. How the hell did you notice the telly.
Any clues on your identity.

I am from Normanby, born on Shadwell Close, then Firtree and now estate opposite the Conquest (so of course Im a regular in there!!!) Hello Reading my fellow neighbour! So many from blantyre, im actually at my grandparents house on blantyre rd now.

Me, well Bankfields actually but it's close enough.

Nellmad Posted on 8/6 17:17
re: Who's from normanby on here then?

Tuppence is 2 old pennies, ie a penny, tuppence thruppence, fourpence and so on, and I worked on the busses for over 10 years and although you couldn't pay in "kind" I got plenty of offers, especially over the border !!!!

borobetty Posted on 8/6 23:38
re: Who's from normanby on here then?

Dogzdik, it's not difficult to notice your telly! I worked out it was you by the name on your van. I actually live down the road from you nearer the cem. Next time I pass your house I'll wave!
I doubt you'll remember me from Bankies though.

JC and Cowley from gilly were by far the best teachers i've ever had. Both retired now, I believe (unless mr cowley still going strong).

10 years next year since i left the place and theres calls for a reunion.

Ricard00

If you are who I think you are, your Dad taught me at Gilly and I taught alongside him when I worked at Acklam Grange.

I lived at the bottom end of Blantyre and sort of knew you and your bro when we were kids, although I was a good few years older than you!

Originally Berwick Hills, but lived in Normanby for 20 years, now in Marton.

Never had any bother in the 100's of nights out in Normanby.

I lived on Guildford Road, parents still do. Went to Normanby Primary and Eston Park left in 95.

The_Gadge Posted on 1/9 11:42
re: Who's from normanby on here then?

I left in Gilly in 98. GravyDips was in the Para's in his early 20's, he showed us the photos one day because no one believed him. That was before he got diabeties, which is why he's so fat and blind now. Winter had a year of around 97-ish but came back in 98. Cuthbert was encouraged to leave Gilly and work at the new learning centre in Teesville, but got sacked from there when indecent images were found on his laptop, apparently.
