In the absence of Little Jimmy I'd better link this latest update in Blair's drive to a frightening Orwellian future from The Independent
| Link: Tony Blair - 'champion frogboiler'? | |

That ... !! Is frightening ... !! Every right we've ever fought for and earned, is being steadily eroded. Britain is churning out people who are created by this regime, told to keep quiet, don't rock the boat. Be a cardboard cutout, and live your 70 odd years without creating any waves. Waves are bad ...

Depressing reading, and the bit at the end is correct; people are resigned to their fate. No one seems to give a fook.

Ah come off it. It was like this before WW1, low vote turnouts, apathetic plebs, etc. Something will kick off and get the world excited again. War with China anyone? --- Post edited by green_beret20 on 29/6 15:53 ---

Let's not forget Governments used in the past to achieve their sleazy ends by non-legislative means. Lots of infringements of civil liberties happened in the past when there was a lot of deference towards our "betters". It's all very well quoting Churchill, but it was he who sent the army to put down a Welsh miners' strike. This rose-tinted view of our "noble" history should be scrapped. It isn't worse now, but it's the job of democratic Governments to expand freedom, not restrict it unnecessarily, like Blair is doing.
