Boro_Gadgie Posted on 9/7 22:43
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Aaahh, I geddit. Her mam's called Jackie and her dad's called Jackie Jax.

Anyhow, had a quiet weekend. Few beers Friday night down the Rudds. A few yesterday afternoon in Normanby and stayed in last night. Went to the gym this afty, and that's about it really. You get up to much?

jax_1 Posted on 9/7 22:43
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Oh well Parmo, you must be good at what you do to be put in charge of a project Yeah, I'm always busy, though I do a good impression of not being so

ParmoMan17 Posted on 9/7 22:45

jax_1 Posted on 9/7 22:46
re: Last Nights Dr Who

LOL Gadgie Yep you've got the idea now. Sounds like you've had a busy one. I've had a fairly quiet weekend as far as going out is concerned.
Is your gym any good, I've been thinking about joining one but not sure whether it would be worth my while really?

MsCurly Posted on 9/7 22:50
re: Last Nights Dr Who

I've just watched Dr Who.........am I the only one that blubbed like a baby when the Doctor and Rose were saying goodbye?

I'm such a doyle.

Boro_Gadgie Posted on 9/7 22:52
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Parmo, I was just down the Stapy to see the Beer Pigs. An old mate of mine is in the band. I don't usually go up Normanby. Occasionally in the Normanby pub, but that's the first time in months I've been up that neck of the woods.

Jax, the gym I go to is Gymworld (Middlesbrough College on Marton Road). It's not that big, and I imagine compared to the likes of JJB, Fitness First, David Lloyd and Bannatynes, it's fairly basic. That said, it's got all the equipment you need to keep yourself fit (cardio, weights etc), and usually it doesn't get too crowded - there was only one other person in there this afternoon when I went. Also at 15 quid a month, you can't beat it for value.

bigtl_billingham Posted on 9/7 22:54
re: Last Nights Dr Who

The last two episodes of dr Who have been absoultely brilliant.
The daleks and the Cybermen together

ParmoMan17 Posted on 9/7 22:54
re: Last Nights Dr Who

beats my 50 per month

MsCurly Posted on 9/7 22:55
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Did you cry bigtl?

TeessideCleveland Posted on 9/7 22:56
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Did you watch the match jax?

jax_1 Posted on 9/7 23:05
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Curly, I have to admit that I shed a tear or two at that very same moment

T.C. I only caught the last bit, had been out for a few hours - not drinking type out outs though

That's walking distance for me Gadgie, never knew there was a gym there. Might have to look into that. It is unisex I assume?

Poor Parmo, You should have more faith in yourself you know. You wouldn't be in charge of the mop bucket if you had no ability. We are really going to have to work on your confidence, or lack thereof!

the_righteous_one Posted on 9/7 23:05
re: Last Nights Dr Who

bet you any money rose will return in a future episode
as will captain jack

thanks Jax :-)

jax_1 Posted on 9/7 23:09
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Yes, Mr righteous peep, I think she will at some point - I hope so. I wasn't very impressed when it was first mooted that she was going to be the Dr's companion but she has really made the part her own. Will be sorry to see her go.

What I wondered yesterday and noone picked up on was.... Do we think there might be a parrallell Galifrey with more Time Lords? That would open up a few story lines and what was that he said the other week about being a dad once? Does anyone know what he was on about?

Boro_Gadgie Posted on 9/7 23:10
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Yes, it's unisex, they don't have separate gyms for men and women. There's nowt to worry about though. Most of the staff are female anyhow. The people who train in there are an ok bunch.

jax_1 Posted on 9/7 23:12
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Yvw Parmo - just speaking as I find is all

ParmoMan17 Posted on 9/7 23:15
re: Last Nights Dr Who

u see it right tho - so good on u

been taken out of me by the 'one'

do i go swimming before work?

cant decide

jax_1 Posted on 9/7 23:21
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Sadly that happens Parmo but it is only temporary blip in life's rich tapestry. You just need to find it again

Sounds reasonable enough then Gadgie, I will have to investigate that I think Is there a bar?

Boro_Gadgie Posted on 9/7 23:27
re: Last Nights Dr Who

There are some "dips bars" at the back of the multigym, where I've been known to do my Brian Jacks impersonation. No drinking bar though.

ParmoMan17 Posted on 9/7 23:27
re: Last Nights Dr Who

wisdom beyond ur age Jax!

jax_1 Posted on 9/7 23:29
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Indeed so Parmo - I'm full of it I am ( wisdom that is )

No drinking bar Gadgie, what sort of fitness joint is it, that it doesn't have somewhere to get a little drinky-poo after all that exertion?

Boro_Gadgie Posted on 9/7 23:31
re: Last Nights Dr Who

You can always go down to the Beechwood and Easterside or to the Viking. There's plenty of seats in the refreshment area and a drinks machine. Not good to be consuming alchohol straight after exercise.

ParmoMan17 Posted on 9/7 23:34
re: Last Nights Dr Who

my gym has a bar - and gadgie is right - it's not good!

gunna force fate's hand now on - there are 2 girls i like at the boro - and this season there gunna know about it

jax_1 Posted on 9/7 23:34
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Yeah the BEADS isn't far or the M.W. you are quite right about it not being good thing tho

Boro_Gadgie Posted on 9/7 23:36
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Especially not good for me as I'm usually driving to and from the gym.

jax_1 Posted on 9/7 23:39
re: Last Nights Dr Who

You go for it Parmo! That's the 'tude

How are you planning to impress them?

T.C. if you are still about. How do you get to the Malleable then, I meant to ask the other night then promptly forgot

jax_1 Posted on 9/7 23:42
re: Last Nights Dr Who

LOL Gadgie aren't you supposed to show willing and walk there or cycle or something?

TeessideCleveland Posted on 9/7 23:46
re: Last Nights Dr Who

jax - why should I tell you when you didn't even cheer my wallet's boys to World Cup glory?!
Are you going to renew your subs?

MsCurly Posted on 9/7 23:47
re: Last Nights Dr Who

I was working at the Malleable Social Club in Norton last night.

Oddly, it's called the South Durham Malleable Club

Boro_Gadgie Posted on 9/7 23:48
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Well I live about a mile away, and I don't fancy carrying my holdall for a 15-20 minute walk there and back. Besides, that's 20 minutes less training time. Also during the week, I usually go there straight from work, so I'm in my car anyway.

jax_1 Posted on 9/7 23:49
re: Last Nights Dr Who

You have a point there T.C. I agree but I hoped that you wouldn't hold that against me too much

TeessideCleveland Posted on 9/7 23:51
re: Last Nights Dr Who

It's on Norton Road jax

fart_on_my_balls Posted on 9/7 23:53
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Norton is South Durham though isnt it? County wise

jax_1 Posted on 9/7 23:55
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Nice and local for you for a change Curls. How was it? Hope they behaved for you in there? Wonder why it's the S.D Malleable though. I thought Malleable was odd enough but even odder with South Durham in the name too

That's fair enough Gadgie, I was only teasing you. At least you are making an effort by going in the first place, which is more than I have done

TeessideCleveland Posted on 9/7 23:56
re: Last Nights Dr Who

FOMB Norton is part of Stockton and not many in Stockton identify with Durham

jax_1 Posted on 9/7 23:57
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Yes T.C. but which is Norton Road. If I was driving from here, how would I get there?

Boro_Gadgie Posted on 9/7 23:57
re: Last Nights Dr Who

No worries Jax. Get yerself down there. The staff are all friendly and helpful and I'm sure you'll be ok.

TeessideCleveland Posted on 9/7 23:58
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Yes jax but where is 'here'?

--- Post edited by TeessideCleveland on 9/7 23:58 ---

MsCurly Posted on 10/7 0:02
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Yes, nice to be local jax, two more local ones coming up in the next fortnight too. Eston tute and British Steel Club in Dormanstown, nice early nights.

Norton Road is really easy, you just get on the A66, take the A19 north and take the Norton (or 1st Billingham) turn off.

Come to roundabout, take your 2nd exit, past the Newlands Medical Centre (which is on the opposite side of the road, I might add) and approach another roundabout. Go straight over......(that's the 2nd exit) and you're on Norton Road.

jax_1 Posted on 10/7 0:02
re: Last Nights Dr Who

I might just do that Gadgie, I do a lot of thinking about joining a gym but have never actually got around to doing so. I think I should though as laziness seems to have taken over since I started to drive again

Just from Middlesbrough T.C. I can find my way to Teesdale, where the uni is and Yarm Road, I think it is but that's about my lot for Stockton, I'm afraid. If I want to go to the town centre I have to get a bus lol

jax_1 Posted on 10/7 0:07
re: Last Nights Dr Who

That'll be nice for you then Curls, must make a really nice change to get home at a reasonable hour and to still have time to relax for a while.
It doesn't sound too hard to find, the Malleable that is? Not that I intend going I just couldn't remember where the devil the place was. When you're just a passenger you never seem to take much notice of these things I spose. ( that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it )

What else is near it?

TeessideCleveland Posted on 10/7 0:09
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Having had a couple of pints I'll no doubt get this wrong
Go over Mandale roundabout and carry on down Acklam Road (Stockton) to the end and turn left at the end towards Stockton centre
When you come top the main roundabout turn right and follow the road (with the river on your right) - you will be running parallel to stockton High Street
Asthe road swings left go straight on and over the roundabout onto the bypass
At the end of the bypass turn right and that road is (or becomes I'm not 100pc)Norton Road and the Malleable is on your left(if you pass Aldi you've gone too far)
No doubt there is a clearer description of the route but I'm a bit tired

TeessideCleveland Posted on 10/7 0:10
re: Last Nights Dr Who

If you ring them 1st jax they'll tell you how much you need to renew your subs!

jax_1 Posted on 10/7 0:12
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Thanks for those directions T.C. and you too Curls, sorry I forgot to say thanks in my last post baaaaaad jax!
Either way, it sounds like a recipe for an adventure for me, I'd have to take a flask and some sarnies jic

jax_1 Posted on 10/7 0:15
re: Last Nights Dr Who

LOL I don't think I'll be taking any subs out T.C. Just curiosity go the better of me, so I had to ask. Did you go in there yourself - is that how you discoevered it?

TeessideCleveland Posted on 10/7 0:15
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Well if you get lost Middlesbrough will always be signposted at any main junction

TeessideCleveland Posted on 10/7 0:16
re: Last Nights Dr Who

And on that note good night
for me

the_righteous_one Posted on 10/7 0:17
re: Last Nights Dr Who

and what has this got to do with dr. who?

jax_1 Posted on 10/7 0:17
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Just as well T.C. I got lost over there not so long back and just followed the car in front for a bit, as you do, but then that parked up so I had to go it alone As luck had it, I came out at the very top of Portrack Lane, so all was well

Boro_Gadgie Posted on 10/7 0:18
re: Last Nights Dr Who

And it's goodnight from him.

TeessideCleveland Posted on 10/7 0:19
re: Last Nights Dr Who

t_r_o he always pops in the malleable for a pint after battling daleks
night

the_righteous_one Posted on 10/7 0:20
re: Last Nights Dr Who

so thats what the police box is doing outside
theres me thinking stockton still looks like summit out of the 60's

jax_1 Posted on 10/7 0:20
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Night night T.C. Sleep well and pleasant dreams

Are you off too Gadgie or just saying night to T.C.

We did digress just a little didn't we Righteous peep, I'd be no good in charge of the TARDIS though, dread to think where I'd end up

the_righteous_one Posted on 10/7 0:23
re: Last Nights Dr Who

well the good dr himself isn't the greatest navagator
must admit he's got better in the last two series

Boro_Gadgie Posted on 10/7 0:23
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Aye, I'm off to hit the sack, Jax. Night, night all. Jax, so you don't fancy being the Doctor's new assistant then? I'm sure he can drive the Tardis. You'll have nowt to worry about.

jax_1 Posted on 10/7 0:25
re: Last Nights Dr Who

LOL I'd love it to be honest as long as the Dr did the driving, then I could blame him. However, I never regard myself as being lost - just having an adventure

Night night Gadgie, sleep well and pleasant dreams

jax_1 Posted on 10/7 0:27
re: Last Nights Dr Who

I've enjoyed the last 2 series more than I thought I would Righteous peep. of the 2 new Dr's I think I prefer David tennant, something about him but not sure what it is.

the_righteous_one Posted on 10/7 0:30
re: Last Nights Dr Who

i must admit i had my doubts about david tennant coz i thought christopher ecclestone was brilliant
my 10 year old son is totally hooked on it and spends allhis money he saves buying the old dr.who series on dvd
he even had a tear in his eye last night when rose went

jax_1 Posted on 10/7 0:33
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Awwww bless, well I hope he realises that having been bitten by the bug, he'll be a fan for life. Which of the baddies did he think would win last night?
Like I said, I can't place what it is about D.T. but he has turned out to be a very good choice in my opinion. Will look forward to the Christmas episode.

the_righteous_one Posted on 10/7 0:35
re: Last Nights Dr Who

he loves the daleks
bought him a remote control one for his birthday last year and it done my head in
do you think catherine tate is going to be the doctor's assistant

jax_1 Posted on 10/7 0:38
re: Last Nights Dr Who

No they have already named the new assistant. Not sure where Ms Tate comes into it, it must just be the next story, possibly he collects the new assistant from her wedding?

LOL @ niosy Dalek, hope you didn't take the batteries out of it when the poor kid was asleep

jax_1 Posted on 10/7 0:38
re: Last Nights Dr Who

The new assistant

Link: Meet Martha

the_righteous_one Posted on 10/7 0:41
re: Last Nights Dr Who

we'll have to wait and see then
theres been some great episodes in this series and i can't wait till the next
bit like being a kid back in the 70's

the_righteous_one Posted on 10/7 0:43
re: Last Nights Dr Who

she looks familiar, wasn't she on the computer in last nights episode/

jax_1 Posted on 10/7 0:43
re: Last Nights Dr Who

I can't think why no one thought of having the Cybermen V the Daleks before. Great idea! Shame it wasn't a whole series of just those 2 foes.
Yes been some good episodes, I've really enjoyed seeing it back on the screen again. Used to love watching the old ones being repeated on UK Gold. Perfect Sunday morning telly

the_righteous_one Posted on 10/7 0:45
re: Last Nights Dr Who

a good line from micky last night
"its like the talking clock meeting cstephen hawkins"

jax_1 Posted on 10/7 0:48
re: Last Nights Dr Who

LOL yes There was some really funny dialogue twixt Cybermen and Daleks, reminded me a bit of the Dad's Army bit where Mainwaring tells Pike not to say his name, at one stage
We can only hope for good things with the next series starts if the writing for the last 2 is anything to go by. Though not sure about how the new assistant will fit in.

the_righteous_one Posted on 10/7 0:53
re: Last Nights Dr Who

well she'll have to be really good if she's going to come anywhere near rose

jax_1 Posted on 10/7 0:57
re: Last Nights Dr Who

Yes indeed, Billie is going to be a very hard act to follow. I can't remember if any of the other assistants were ever as ' hands on' as Rose was. I think most of them just tended to be a bit ' there for the sake of it' but they gave Rose that extra dimension by allowing her to use her noodle which was nice.
