ASK BORO FOR MINUTES SILENCE FOR MY BRO PAUL
Thanks for all your messages of support Paul was my younger brother and we are all totally heartbroken words cannot describe the pain but its some comfort knowing all you boro fans are thinking about us. We have contacted boro asking for a minutes silence and a signed boro top for Paul also my mum wants to lay some flowers where he was sat so if you all email boro asking for the minutes silence and my mum to lay flowers this would make us and Paul so proud, ps just to let you know Paul was totally fit and had no medical problems this has come as a complete shock to us we are waiting until tuesday for the results from the coroner. Thanks Andrew. Here is who you need to address it too Diane O'Connell, MFC's Community Liaison Officer.

Andrew, I know exactly what you are going through right now. My brother also died suddenly when he was 24. Like Paul he was fit and well and it was heartbreaking. I hope you can all find strenght in the fact that others are thinking of you all and keeping you all in their prayers. I know everyone says it, but time does help and I hope you are all able to find the strangth keep Paul 'alive' by talking about him and remembering him with happiness. This does get easier to do as time goes by and it keeps their memory fresh in your minds. Please pass on my sincere sympathy to all your family, but particularly to your parents. Rest in Peace Paul, God Bless. P.S. I have emailed the Club, and will observe a minutes silence in memory of Paul regardless of whether or not there is an official one. --- Post edited by newholgate on 25/8 15:11 ---

If this happens which i believe it will, it will be a tribute worthy to a fellow Boro fan, I watched the unfortunate event unfold opposite me on Wednesday night and my thoughts were with the family hoping that everything would be ok...this is my first opportunity to read the board since Wednesday night and it came as a bit of a shock. Paul RIP mate

re: ASK BORO FOR MINUTES SILENCE FOR MY BRO P
There's never anything adequate to say in these kind of circumstances. Most of us have had to deal with the loss of a friend or relative at some time, but when someone so young loses their life it must be much more difficult to deal with. I can't imagine what you two brothers, and the rest of your family are going through. I have nothing but admiration that you found the time and courage to come on here and post such wonderful personal messages as a tribute to your brother. I am deeply moved by your thoughts. Like me, most of the people who visit this board won't have known Paul personally, but there is a common bond between all Boro fans and I'm sure everyone will want to pay their respects to a great young fan who died tragically while supporting our team. I don't know if your family are religious, but I will say a prayer for Paul and your family. No one knows definitively whether there is a God, but if there is, he can't fail to feel compassion for your brother. Requiescat in Pace. I have emailed. --- Post edited by Come_On_Boro_the_1st on 25/8 19:01 ---

re: ASK BORO FOR MINUTES SILENCE FOR MY BRO P
I was moved to tears by Paul's brothers' comments, especially at as this awful time they took the trouble to go on the website. We missed the game on Wednesday as we were stuck in floods in Wakefield - two of us will be at the Portsmouth match on Monday. I can't imagine losing anyone so young and healthy like that, my deepest sympathies to the family. Words cannot express the grief you are all feeling, time will be scant condolence. Have the faith to believe he will always be with you, and take courage from that. I lost my father when I was 21, my husband lost his first wife when she was 31 - we both know what it is like to lose someone loved unexpectedly. Remember Paul for his good qualities -time will never dim the pain, but it may help you take strength from their memory. God bless.

How about we all fall silent as the ref blows his whistle at kick off? I'm sure Pompey will support us if we badger their board. Deepest sympathy to you and your family, we are all thinking of you.

belasis, that's an excellent thought.... ...does anyone know who the Boro's FANZONE guest commentator is? Could maybe arrange something via him if MFC not up for the silence? would Rob know, perhaps?? --- Post edited by wheelz on 26/8 1:29 ---

My Mum couldnt get on here for some reason, but she has asked me to post on her behalf, her deepest sympathy, and wishes your family well, from the whole of our family. She has sent a lengthy e-mail to the club, and we will observe the silence either way. All the best, Love Dianne and family x

re: ASK BORO FOR MINUTES SILENCE FOR MY BRO PAUL
Has there been any mention at all on the club website about this family's loss? It seems from reading the posts on here that it has been uppermost in the thoughts of many Boro fans, yet it appears that there is not going to be a minute's silence on Monday night. If that is the case then I think it would send a message to the club if we could somehow organise our own minute's silence when the game kicks off. Some things are more important than football.

re: ASK BORO FOR MINUTES SILENCE FOR MY BRO P
If for any reason the club say no - which I don't think they will, we should just use the ref blowing for kick off as the start of our silence. The only snag is getting the word to everyone so the full stadium joins in. RIP Paul!

There is support for a silence over on the Pompey board. Its good to see football rivals coming together to support each other when it really matters. I've posted a link to this thread on there in case any of the Pompey fans would like to contact MFC to request a minutes silence as well.

So sorry to hear of your loss and can't believe that the club would not honour one of it's own. We have observed silences for many others and I can't think of any that were more deserving. Hope your family gets it's wish and I have mailed the club as well. Deepest sympathies to you and yours RIP Paul

Please accept my condolences. 23 is far, far, too young. I suppose if it's any consolation, the last thing he did was to celebrate a Boro goal along with people he loved.

Obviously 23 is far too young but if you can take any consolation in the fact that very few of us leave this life in the place that we would choose, take care and best of luck with the minutes silence.

Very heartwrenching but I hope your family will be strong. Hope you get the minute's silence and it would be great if everyone sings out Paul's name during the match and hope it spurs the team on...a good win would be a fitting tribute to such a loyal fan. Will be watching in front of TV at 255am on Tuesday and will observe the minutes silence no matter what. R.I.P Paul Boro fan from Singapore

I saw from across the ground the activity on Wednesday but didn't realise the seriousness of the events until today. Awful tragedy that brings home the preciousness of life and puts in perspective the utter triviality of a game of football. Deepest condolences and my thoughts are with your family. I cant be at the game on Monday but I hope the club and the fans give a fitting send off to Paul.

Hi This is Andrew Paul's brother just hoping all you boro fans could sing out theres only one Paul Simpson one Paul Simpson theres only one Paul Simpson for 30 seconds to 1 minute then maybe all start clapping my youngest brother john is going to be there and maybe david also, he isnt sure yet, and we would love to hear it it would be the best tribute to Paul we could possibly think of and i will be tapeing it to show my daughter Jade when she is a little older Paul doted on Jade and she doted on him she doesnt understand where he is and she is missing him, just as we all are more than you can ever imagine so please keep this hoofed today and get all boro fans to sing for Paul for his best possible tribute he will be looking down and this would make him so proud he was the nicest most genuine person you could ever possibly meet COME ON BORO LADS. Many thanks for all your support. Andrew
