Wilmslow - I fail to see what all the fuss is about St Albans, to me it's nothing special, certainly not special enough to justify the house prices. In all honesty I prefer Hitchin or Harpenden, but thats just a personal preference.

Each to their own Lizards. I left there in 1998 after two years but I go back fairly regularly as my brother has ended up living and working there and I like the place. Basically you've got London 20 minutes away via Thameslink or Capital Connect or whatever it is now called - so it is handy for getting back from gigs etc and making a weekend of London away games - but it's not actually London which I think is the secret.

| towz Posted on 12/9 15:54 | |
| re: Things you love abot Down South | |
The lack of chips on shoulders might have something to do with the fact that most of the wealth, opportunity and business is based down south, with the North-East probably bottom of the pile.

I am moving to St Albans next month. Any recommendations for pubs/clubs and areas not to live in would be appreciated There are few things I could say I love about living down here but I do like poking fun at the mackem landlord of our local less rain more jobs in my field and better pay If I could get a job doing what I do in northern england I would move back up for definite.

its doesnt have to be just boro, it can be hartlepool ,sunderland,newcastle..its stil the same. you are now being a narrow minded northerner

Not at all sas. Im a great believer in places are pretty much the same where ever you go, good and bad in all aspects, youll notice I disagreed but didnt proote North over South.

down south there is more influence of different nationalities in their blood so you will get prettier women. ie one parent might be italian, spanish, south american,swedish,asian..etc wonder how many of the anti southerners on here have spent a reasonable amount of time living and exploring london or the south?
| Flint_Stone Posted on 12/9 23:11 | |

I have - I prefer the North. Less crowded and a better pace of life.

i have, i lived in portsmouth for three years. i can honestly say, i find people alot friendlier and more welcoming up here.
| MontagueLongfellow Posted on 12/9 23:14 | |
| re: Things you love abot Down South | |
I saw one of the most beautiful women Ive ever clapped eyes on in Thornaby last week, absolutley stunning just going about her business during the day, I dont care what the influence was behind it. Dont assume people are anti-southern because they like what theyve got.
| sasboro Posted on 12/9 23:15 | |
| re: Things you love abot Down South | |
broaden your horizons a bit there is more to life than thornaby and albert road. she was probably a stunner relative to thornaby. or you might just crap taste Its true what southerners say about northerners being stuck in their ways..i didnt notice it until i moved south the only reason why you stay in the north east is cos your family and friends are there. if they were down south you wouldnt live up north --- Post edited by sasboro on 12/9 23:18 ---

northeastcorner, on saturday in london i found everyone pretty friendly and helpful when ever i asked for directions or help.its an urban myth that southerners are less friendly than northerners

most of my family are in portsmouth, but i wouldnt go back there.

| re: Things you love abot Down South | |
Shouldn't generalise like that sas. I think the standard of nice women in the south is slightly higher than the North, but there are beautiful women everywhere. No doubt the girl Monty saw was a stunner, they are just (as much as I hate to admit it) fewer and farther between in Teesside.
| northeastcorner Posted on 12/9 23:24 | |
| re: Things you love abot Down South | |
i suppose it all comes dow to personal experience, as i say, i lived down south, and i found people to be far less friendly than they are up here. but, as i said, it all comes down to personal experience
| MontagueLongfellow Posted on 12/9 23:24 | |
| re: Things you love abot Down South | |
sas, dont be so presumptuous, Ive spent my working and leisure life in part travelling the length of the country. The girl I saw would of been as attractive regardless of the location she was naturaly beautifull in my eyes.
| sasboro Posted on 12/9 23:25 | |

probably need to ask the likes of borobadge why he likes living down south rather than up north even though it means long journeys to home games.

Yep, be intresting to see if hes turned his back on his roots. People move on for various reasons, most dont feel the need to weild the knife in the back tho. Move on and be content by all means but slagging people who dont feel the need to make you seem a coont

| re: Things you love abot Down South | |
wooooahhh a bit of a generalisation with this north/ south business .... Basically in the south you will get all types of towns/people /dwellings etc rich and poor ...portsmouth is comparable to teeside ,whereas York is say more similar to st albans . On a note regarding prettier women ,yes women are much prettier in the south especially in the richer parts ...this is obvious when you consider that beautiful women tend to gravitate towards {a mans wealth} . also as pointed out already ,because of the mix of nationalities this also enhances the overall beauty somewhat.

Nicer Women????????? Substitute that for women who generally make more effort to look nice by use of powder and paint and women who generally have more money to spend on fashion and grooming. The true test is the woman you wake up with in the morning, bollocky naked and no make up. Don't forget, much of the totty you see down South are actually Northern girls who've gone South to seek their fortunes, not to mention the 'united nations' contingent. --- Post edited by Grumpy_Paul on 13/9 1:44 ---
