Well you can add Vice Squad to the unkown date pile, they played in 81/2 with Bugsy and the Spacefrogs and some other band as supports. Bugsy did a song called something like 'FucX Beki Bondage (Vice Squad lead singer) and I was about 14 at the time. I cant remember what the rock garden was called then, but this was my first gig.

The later version of the Spacefrogs features only Bugsy from the original line up I believe, the band was a stockton metal outfit whose name escapes me.

Monty:

In those days Bugsy used to have a pick-up band, I knw that Alan (Sav) Savage from Basczax played with him most often, Alan Cornforth, Mick Todd and Geff Fogarty (all Basczax) also served.
The drummer and the guitarist from No Way also played now and then.

b-badge:

Don't remind me - I remember in 1970 aged 14, I was at an all night party in someone's house in Thornaby (whatever happened to all night parties in someone's house?) and I spotted Paul Rodgers younger brother stood there looking cool. I had drank two bottles of newcy AMBER, and was TOTALLY pi55ed, and I shouted at him "HELLO, YOU ARE THE SON OF FREE, AREN'T YOU!" and promptly spewed my ring up.

fastcakes..my partner has a book of all the gigs he went to at the rock garden,he did mini reviews and gave them star ratings, will get up there when have time and see what he has listed, his biggest regret is that he passed on seeing joy division at leeds to go and see adam and the ants at the garden..he only saw when new order..

re: Rock Garden gig guide - part 2 (complete

I played guitar for the Space Frogs for that Vice Squad gig.

Bugsy up front acting the goat with Dave Robbo on bass and Mikey Clarke on drums.

The above lineup also supported the Damned, Angelic Upstarts, Joolz and several other gigs at the Rocky which I forget due to vast ammounts of snakebites with pernod and blacks in them. Charlie Moore played drums a couple of times before leaving Teesside to join the Cuddly Toys and then the Macc Lads.

I also remember seeing the Sex Gang Children, Q-Tips (Paul Young), Slade (twice), the Go-Gos (Berlinda Carlisle), Headline, Weapon of Peace.

I think the party was for Lynne Carole.

borobadge - that makes sense, I remember Basczax played a gig for a cops party, they didn't tell me and it was one of the few gigs I didn't play with them - it must have been Lynn's dad that booked us.

re: Rock Garden gig guide - part 1 (complete?)

I certainly saw the Doctors of Madness play the Rock Garden twice. I don't have any recall of Penetration being the support (but that may be my mind playing tricks on me).

The second time they were supported by a three piece band, but I can't remember the name. We were in for the sound check as Richard Strange and the bass player from the support band did a great version of stuck inside a mobile with the memphis blues again.

Rose tattoo is not on that list either as far as I can see. The certainly played there.

Bugsy was in Eindhovien in cafe thomas he was on fire as usual keeping everyone entertained, my partner was happy as he became the unofficial childminder for tom but i think it was only so he could have mess about in the lads wheelchair!
