Broken and painful.
I am gutted I was playing 4 games a week and starting to be able to at least kick the ball in a straight line after not playing for a while.

In the midst of a drunken conversation last night, Borodrew said he wanted to play and was going to "show me how it's done". He said he would probably score fifteen goals from the left wing and that it would be a battle between him, his self and I.

Crackers.

Rev, I've actually no idea where loftus is, but I'm off all day and dont mind a half hour or so out of my way.

As long as biggins is happy to jump out when i slow to 15 mph or so, as I'm told its dangerous to stop around there, we should be fine.

corruptbiggins Posted on 26/9 2:36
re: Football at Goals - Fri 29th Sept 7.30pm

piggy_nichol Posted on 26/9 9:18
re: Football at Goals - Fri 29th Sept 7.30pm ish

Well that didnt go too well, I should have phoned up earlier.

There are no 7 a side pitches available after 5pm or before 10pm.

So, do we book a 5 a side pitch for 7.30pm (we currently have 11 players + 2 maybes) or do we look elsewhere for something bigger?

stephen1986 Posted on 26/9 9:29

The indoor pitch at Eston is easily big enough for 9 a side if you get more interest.

Would we get away with 7 a side at Eston, Capio?

eston details anyone?

stephen1986 Posted on 26/9 11:44

i think the number is 01642 282128

piggy_nichol Posted on 26/9 16:59
re: Football at Goals - Fri 29th Sept 7.30pm ish

I've gone for the 5 a side option at goals, its booked for 7.30pm. I didnt know if everyone was ok with getting to eston.

So with that in mind I've had to cross off Kiwi and CB from the list as they were only 'maybes'

That leaves us with 12 players of whom Rev and Motown were the last two.

So, should we;

a) tell them to piss off

b) play 6 a side

c) play 5 a side with a rolling sub on each team.

b) or c) would be my preference. Its a shame to turn people away and 5 a side might be quite tiring. What does everyone else think?

capio, why wouldnt you play if you havent seen other people play?

i quite fancied the eston idea when it was brought up. like that indoor pitch, 7 a sides perfect on there and everyone can play.

are the 7 a side pitches at goals too expensive too?

capio Posted on 27/9 12:16
re: Football at Goals - Fri 29th Sept 7.30pm ish

Nah drew what I was saying is I can't pick the teams because I haven't seen you all play. The eston pitch is massive, I think its more suited to 8 or 9 a side.

Utter annihilation today, by far the most one sided game I have ever had the misfortune to play in.
The young pups deservedly won by a rout, back in a minute with the ratings and they will be scathing.

borodrew Posted on 29/9 21:05

ratings??? RATINGS??? you never said nothing about ratings!!!.

my goalkeeping performance will be low no doubt....

good game though, was still competitive and good for fitness even though the score was one sided.

cheers everyone.

i think i knew the second answer!

apl1970 Posted on 30/9 1:40
re: Football at Goals - Fri 29th Sept 7.30pm

Stop being cocky blades, 5 a side (we don`t kick you in the air) and 11 a side are different which was showing on Wednesday night when you were in a competition with a door mouse about who was more evident but well played tonight.

Capio gave himself a 2!!!! how can you not mark a man and get a 2 while playig at the back in 5 A SIDE???

FFS it`s a pass and move game.

And if the only thing you can abuse me for on the running stakes is not chasing that ball that you threw then the golden nugget for being silly goes to you. Did you think to look at who wasn`t marking a man when we were trying to close them down? YEP, mostly it was you. I chased then young mothafuckers all over but what`s the point when somebody wants to play as a spare man. When blades got the ball and had the time to turn towards goal I realised we we`re getting stuffed tonight. But if you think that`s the way to play we all need to know because I was sick tonight of hearing you shout about marking when you were marking space. I heard a top manager say recently that he hadn`t ever seen space score.

What pisses me off most is your better than that. If your right behind somebody marking them he`s not gunna get past, it`s gotta be a lay off. This gives time to the people who didn`t follow their man straight away to be back on the case.

I don`t particcularly like playing as a forward in 5 a side but if nobody is going to stop the keeper rolling the ball out then I`ll chase afucking rabbit down a hole if I have to.

We were piss poor tonight and I`ll take my share of the blame for that. I only shout because I don`t like getting beat so badly or comprehensively. I`m apologising again to the lad who`s chin I nearly took off, and I pulled out of that!

If your gonig to give scores dave then you can try and mark the opposition on their goal line and I`ll stand at the back doing the knitting.

I`ve just seen you gave skeelo a 6, why? He was as useless at close marking as you.

Remember my comments about how many balls we needed?

apl1970 Posted on 30/9 1:46
re: Football at Goals - Fri 29th Sept 7.30pm

P.S. Same again next week?

P.P.S. But a bit earlier??

capio Posted on 30/9 9:53
re: Football at Goals - Fri 29th Sept 7.30pm

We needed the spare man at the back because they were skinning you all, the number of times I cleaned up a man who had already gone passed his marker was unreal.

I can mark you down for loads of things, poor first touch, poor passing, and playing up front when that is not your game.

6 people on a team at 5 a side, we need a spare man at the back, but because of a couple of people it was impossible to make a system, because listening didn't seem an option.

There must always be one man back at 5 a side otherwise what happended when I went up is they were free one on one with the keeper.
Skeelo did ok, the worst three players were you me and MJ.

apl1970 Posted on 30/9 11:45
re: Football at Goals - Fri 29th Sept 7.30pm

Re read my comments on my self analysis on playing forward, who else was going to stop the keeper rolling it out to their players.

The reason they skinned us was because there was always a man unmarked to pass to and run forward for a return pass. If that man was closer marked he would`ve found it a lot more difficult to control the ball if he got it at all.

I didn`t say we all had to play forward, but we should never have anyone spare otherwise that`s one of the opposition free.

For the record I used to play up front. Not in a get the ball and try and run rings round them, that`s obviously not my game. I got put there because i`d close the fackers down, battle like hell and hold the ball up.

I`ll tell you what, next time I won`t try and drag players wide to give the likes of goat some space and I`ll just play at the back.

Anyway, we`ll get it sorted for next week (6:30 next time piggy? And perhaps 7 a side?) and we`ll hopefully be a lot more supportive of each other and have more control of the game.

capio Posted on 30/9 12:07
re: Football at Goals - Fri 29th Sept 7.30pm

Lets face it you're looking for excuses for playing crap.

You were crap, I was crap and motown was crap he was crap because he was ball greedy as sin, you were crap because your touch was terrible and I was crap because I couldn't cover any ground and my passing was off.

I've still got a broken rib, whats your excuse ? ...and as last man I scored more than you

apl1970 Posted on 30/9 12:14
re: Football at Goals - Fri 29th Sept 7.30pm

You scored?? Must have missed that when I was getting my breath back after chasing lads half my age around the pitch because other people wouldn`t.

capio Posted on 30/9 12:16
re: Football at Goals - Fri 29th Sept 7.30pm

Yeah just the 3 but it would have been more had you passed me the ball when I was clean through, but you passed it 5 yards behind me and said skeelo taking one in the nuts put you off.

cocky? dont know about that one fella but i'll let you have it. I was loud last night beacuse i knew the lads i was playing with. Give me time to get to know the 11 aside lads and i'll be just as vocal. I'm just having a laugh 5 aside/6 aside/7 aside. That is why i was show boating and pissing about. I wouldn't of said your team was terrible we just had more legs about us
