But despite the high death rate Doll-wise, muscially they still scrub up pretty well...I too am looking forward to it.

re: New York Dolls

I am just a bit too young to remember them at the time, but I do remember seeing Johnny Thunders and Heartbreakers (with Jerry Nolan) play maybe half a dozen Dolls songs in the crypt in 77.

I have a few videos as well downloaded from p2p sites.

Their first album is a classic.

IAO - I remember that gig in the Crypt - best pound I ever spent.

re: New York Dolls

Can't remember how much it was Pete, but it is one of my top 5 gigs ever.

I was so looking forward to seeing Siouxie n the Banshees as well, but they totally dissapointed. Johnny Thunders n crew so made up for that though. What a performance.

Johnny Thunders Hearbreakers didn't play any New York Dolls songs at the Crypt...so there!

re: New York Dolls

No they didn't. Still disagree? Name them and I will check them against the set list I stole from J.T.'s monitor, the one that I have framed in my hallway.

Chatterbox? (i'd have put money on it)

Didin't they finish off or do Personality Crisis for the encore ?

Btw, if you were close enough to nab the setlist from JT's monitor, you must have been stood next to me.

Okay, Chatterbox yes, no encore details though. Two songs is a little different to half a dozen isn't it?

Big deal eh? Great band and great gig, shame they didn't get themselves sorted out isn't it?

'In Cold Blood' J.T.'s biog is a pretty good read by the way.

I'll have to read it, Only ever saw JT live 3 times

Great band indeed. If you have time would you mind posting the set list.

You've got me all nostalgic now, listening to L.A.M.F (not the remastered pap either)

I'm ashamed I've never heard of them, but will now do some homework. I like the link. Cheers

re: New York Dolls

Grantus how old are you? I presumed, by your wit and wisdom, that were were of a similar age as myself. Surely the Dolls can't have passed you by?

re: New York Dolls

Saw the reformed Heartbreakers as a 3 piece (Thunders, Rath and Nolan) at Rock City Nottingham in 1984 strangely supported by New Model Army and Skeletal Family. They took ages to come on and wjhen they did stagger on Thunders could hardly play. They did about 3 songs then someone chucked a full pint at the drummer with the glass. The song fell apart and he got into the crowd with a mic stand. It was wild...and the goths were whiter than white.
