Trains to London

Looking to book up on the GNER website and I'm fuming at the prices they are charging, how the hell can they justify charging £85 for a single 2 and a half hour train trip? This is several weeks in advance as well. Is there anywhere I can get them cheaper?

whenever I've gone i've been to the train station a month or so before and always got them for 9/10 quid each way

Try choosing different train times, and forget the singles.

A lot of the time two singles works out cheaper if you've booked well in advance. You got a railcard? Try qjump and the trainline but they're normally exactly the same.

i booked a 1st class ticket yesterday for journey next tuesday at the princely sum of 58 quid but when i checked prices a while ago they were much more expensive. maybe ticket prices change from time to time so its prob worth checking in with the websote a little closer to the date.
last time i was back the 1st class ticket was 29.50 but guess i got lucky with that!
good luck

Checked trainline, prices are slightly better. Going down in two and a half weeks but was looking for next month as well. Wasn't until I got to December ont he GNER site the prices started coming down.

Cheers I'll ring tomorrow. I can't be flexible really though, I just started a job and am training so can't have any time off at the minute so it has to be the weekend unfortunately.
