Good stuff.

re: The Damned - New Rose

Saw them perform this on a support tour (they were supporting the Flaming Groovies) at the Coatham bowl.
They opened with it and encored with it - not a lot of material for their 20 minute set.
great memories tho

Captain Sensible's cousin is from Bolton.

(A bit tenuous that one, granted)

the_broken_fridge Posted on 24/10 10:03
re: The Damned - New Rose

and you know that how?

mickbrown Posted on 24/10 10:04
re: The Damned - New Rose

She's my sister's friend.

Fischer Posted on 24/10 10:17
re: The Damned - New Rose

There are clearly only seven people in the world who are actually from Bolton. Mickbrown, Peter Kay, Captain Sensible's cousin, Sara Cox, Frank Finlay, the weird-looking one from McFly and Hylda Baker.

Anybody else you might see wandering the streets has been imported into the town on exorbitant wages.

re: The Damned - New Rose

You've missed out that fella from Jaws.

We tried to get Bill Clinton in on loan but he was having none of it.

Mark Radcliffe?

craig_pancrack Posted on 24/10 10:31
re: The Damned - New Rose

RE-RELEASE IT NOW ! Death to Emo and whiney yank power pop !

mickbrown Posted on 24/10 10:34
re: The Damned - New Rose

BillBones - we pretend he's not since he decided to support City, for no other eason than it was fashionable to do so.

The_Lizards_Jumpers Posted on 24/10 10:36
re: The Damned - New Rose

That and he's got taste in everything he does, clearly including his choice of football clubs.

Maybe he prefers the more "cultured" football teams of the region.

Oh and you missed Fred Dibnah, Fischer.

mickbrown Posted on 24/10 10:42
re: The Damned - New Rose

The_Lizards_Jumpers - he chose them. You don't chose, you are chosen.

BillBones Posted on 24/10 10:49
re: The Damned - New Rose

Fred Dibnah's autobiography includes the greatest sentence ever to be committed to print:

'Paris, like Greece, was abroad but it wasn't actually that bad'.

borosown Posted on 24/10 11:26
re: The Damned - New Rose

eee fred dibnah,he used to drink in my local when I lived in Tyldesley.

mickbrown Posted on 24/10 11:29
re: The Damned - New Rose

Tyldesley?

*Winces.

borosown Posted on 24/10 11:41
re: The Damned - New Rose

oh I used to love Tyldesley. Great pint of holts in the mort then another great pint of Holts in the half moon. Happy days, cheap beer. Stagger home pished singing Boro songs in the middle of the street.

In a punk mood now, played New rose now on to Love song.

re: The Damned - New Rose

It is quite hard, and probably only old punks will have heard of the band.

They did play the garden though. In 78

The only band I saw at the time that were younger than me. Also I'm sure they were the first band to mutilate a pigs head on stage.
