Kiss of Death - FAO Sir Gareth - Watford

I went to watch the Watford/Hull CC game tonite.
Watford played a full team minus Marlon King and won 2-1.

It was the worst game of football I have seen for yonkers.

Watford have no confidence.
The defenders are frightened to control the ball and all they do is hoof it long.
The keeper launches everything long and wide.
The midfield just chip high balls hoping the forwards will win it.
The ball spends so much time in the air, i suggest bringing a telescope and a sky at night chart.
The keeper seems to panic when Watford take the lead.
I just cannot fail to see anything other than a Boro win big style, we'll just have too much for them.
Watford are nothing like the high tempo team who won promotion last season.

We'll there you go , kiss of death for sure.

"I just cannot fail to see anything other"

You lost me right there, way too many contradictory negatives.

Reading 3 Boro 2 - first win
Sheff Utd 2 Boro 1 - first win

There is a pattern here that isn't hard to spot

The reason i think for why it happens like that, we play well against good teams carp against carp teams is because of the way we set the tempo.

Instead of setting our own level and tempo for a match we follow what the other team are doing. Therefore we play against reading/notts county and we drop to thier level and dont play our own game. But then when we play teams like chelsea we raise up to thier level and compete.

We have to learn to set our own tempo from the off, just as we did against Everton and gradually did against the skunks.

OK John, that's fine. I think I'll need a drink before the match though, so I'll check out the MSS recommended pub prior to the game, and hope you can join us.
