| Yakubu | |
Are we still defending him after a woeful performance today, last week and a couple of weeks before. We were warned by Pompey fans that he would go off the boil and lo and behold he aint even simmering. We must look for another striker for Massimo or face humiliation over our strike force

i do recall pompey fans saying what you said how can you be on fire one minute and utter she ite the next! is it motivation thats the problem?

| re: Yakubu | |
rubbish. you cant blame him. he had scored 3 in 3 , confidence is high, he was holding it up, running strongly against everton and newcastle. i suggest you slate our defenders and midfielders before yakubu, as defending, and actually creating chances for stikers are much greater problems. his scoring stats since being in the prem speak for themselves.

It's the mark of many a great striker. We have superb headless chickens in Maccarone, Christie and Graham who put in effort or try. Unfortunately the FA don't prop up your goals for statistics when your strikers try hard.

How can we slate the midfeild, when its non-existant?!?! The whole midfeild was crap today, and Southgates choise of subs was crap. Shoulda been: Morrison start before Arca Cattermole for Boateng Graham for Yakubu. GS cannot bottle out of dropping Boateng. He is a liabillity, can't pass, can't shoot and can't tackle. Gives freekicks away ten-a-penny. Come on GS, show us some balls.

It's all fooking history borodew, be there see the game and then qoute on the game. Massimo needs to start every game to prove himself and not to be the understudy to some lazy shoite, week in week out. This is about Yakubu and not Massimo by the way

| re: Yakubu | |
history? hes scored nearly one in two this season, he scored plenty last year. hes proved it in the prem year in year out. maccarone has proves hes not good enough at this level both goal wise and football wise for nearly 5 years now!. anyway like you said this is not about maccarone, its about yakubu, and hes the only player weve got whos capable of scoring goals. that history excuse is pathetic. just watched the highlights. didnt even see massimo do anything whatsoever. in comparison yakubu beat a man down the left and gave morrison a good chance and had a shot blocked for a corner, so how we should be looking for a partner for mr invisible maccarone instead of yakubu, aswell as both players goal differences in unbelievable --- Post edited by borodrew on 4/11 22:31 ---

| re: Yakubu | |
If he is the only thing we have got to score goals with, we have major problems. He is a strker not a winger trying to be a striker, he better learn to be somewhere near the goal rather than sat on the wing getting in the way of Downing like he was doing today. You qouted the history and it is just that, old news. We cannot live on past glories, we are dier against teams poorer than ourselves, and it ain't working. I am saying what I saw today from a world class player who is not doing the job we bought him for. I pay good money to see the Boro play and expect higher standards than what was seen today.

| re: Yakubu | |
its last season FFS!!!!!. so how do you pick players if you dont go on recent form/history, and what states maccarone should play instead of him? history? or because maccarone runs around like a headless chicken?. anyway this is the most clueless and uninformed post ive ever read. your on another bloody planet. by the way, i agree with you on the general performance and state of the team today, not good enough by any means. but not on yakubu. not with defending and midfield play like that. the marking, the picking up, the lack of creativity, weve got much bigger problems than yakubu. --- Post edited by borodrew on 4/11 22:39 ---

massimos not good enough hes one of those players you want him to be because he runs about a bit thanks for the late goals in europe but hes not the answer who is thats the bigger question!!!

It's motivation. You play cack and he can't be arsed. Suspect his agent is busy behind the scenes. He'll be moving on for a "big club" in January if things don't pick up.
