Dunno how true this is but i was told the show came to middlesbrough in late 1800s,early 1900s and some of the native indians that were in the show died of pneunonia while here

At least one of the performers has a grave in Linthorpe Cemetery though I've never seen it myself - but they sometimes have tours and that is one of the highlights.

Yep he did visit Middlesbrough, I live not far from his grave and museum at Lookout Mountain, Colorado. Middlesbrough is on the list of places he performed at.

He did not die in Boro though, he died in his sisters house in Denver in 1917 I believe!

did he perform only in Boro? Were there other venues in the area?

Did it have something to do with the hosses he used, specifically Cleveland Bay hosses? Sure it's been mentioned on here before. He valued them for their unflappability. A quality also appreciated by the police as they used Cleveland Bays in demonstration and riot situations.

I seem to remember Bradford and Coventry were mentioned too, although I want to say Stockton aswell, but I'm not too sure!

Manchester......someone there is descended from a native American.

Strange but true....a bloke at work has a spirit guide in the form of an Indian chief!....as a kid,he saw it stood in a corner of his bedroom, feather headdress and all the gear....his mother, who is a spirit medium, told him it's his spirit guide and will always look after him.

He certainly visited the Black Country at this time where he and his troupe fell victim to thieves.

There was a plan to make a film about the episode during the 1990s with - or so rumour had it - the part of 19th Century local boxing hero The Tipton Slasher being played by the 20th century Wolverhampton football ikon, Steve Bull.

for some reason, I recall my Dad saying that they spent time in a few fields in between saltburn and marske. I must have been wrong

Mr Pancrack, Funny that you shld post on this. I have literally just finished watching your DVD. Once again, I found it very enjoyable ( apart from the obvious bits re Yorkshire ).
Any thoughts on what the actual make-up is on where the people came from? For example, my Grandfather came from Norfolk to find work.

was my uncle ted there as well?

There is deffiently an Natvie american indian burried in linthorpe cemmy. Im sure the story was that he got really sick whilst on tour and was left behind. Not sure how long he lived afterwards.

re: Buffalo Bills Wild West Show

The Indian's name was MOSES CARPENTER and he is buried in Linthorpe Cemy on Burlam/Roman Rd. I believe some people in recent times have decorated his grave with feathers etc. The word is he used to be a rather exotic attraction to Suusex St market in the Boro a century ago, with a flair for licking cataracts off people's eyes! But i also heard recently he was only here for a few months being pegging it...maybe the smog finished him off! The Gazettte reported a few months back of a Teesside bloke in Canada seeking out his descendants...

XBOROX - your Uncle Ted was there but he kipped in the car, i was down with Bill on the good earth. So XBOROX, without revealing your ID making you vulnerable to being marked for death, do the words 'marked' 'for' and 'death' mean anything to you???

DOC BUCK = Picked it up different places....try the Gazettte website and search for the articles about him. And try Cleveland and Teesside Local History Society which is run by Geoff and Jenny Braddy, Jenny knows a bit about Moses C.
