Superman Returns

Not as good as the originals. An odd plot and too many CGI's ruin it in comparison with the originals.

re: Superman Returns

Which flight did you go on over the weekend to see that??

Lisbonlegend Posted on 11/12 15:42
re: Superman Returns

None, it's out on DVD.

re: Superman Returns

I left the cinema after 30mins. Dreadful. Then I booed loudly, ran to the useher and threw my tickets at him.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 11/12 15:46
re: Superman Returns

Did you have a cinema season ticket?

Rain_Wooney Posted on 11/12 15:47
re: Superman Returns

You used to be able to get similar 'season pass' tickets at the UGC cinema in Middlesbrough, I think.

grocerygirl Posted on 11/12 16:02
re: Superman Returns

the story line about lois and superman having a child together spoilt the whole thing for me.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 11/12 16:03
re: Superman Returns

Why? Were you hoping you might be in with a chance?

Lisbonlegend Posted on 11/12 16:11
re: Superman Returns

The new Spiderman film features his evil black suit. Should be the best one yet...

grocerygirl Posted on 11/12 16:12
re: Superman Returns

no LL just because im a big comicbook to film fan

Lisbonlegend Posted on 11/12 16:13
re: Superman Returns

Me too but I much prefer Marvel comics to DC comics.

grocerygirl Posted on 11/12 16:17
re: Superman Returns

what did you think of daredevil and elektra then? im not a big ben affleck fan. i thought they could of cast the role better.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 11/12 16:20
re: Superman Returns

I think Affleck is crap, he's far too wooden. Daredevil should have been an excellent film but he spoilt it. They were ok but nowhere near as good as I was expecting. I agree, the casting should have been much better.

The Hulk was ruined by a crap storyline and ridiculous CGI's.

What has been you favourite?

grocerygirl Posted on 11/12 16:24
re: Superman Returns

probly sin city because it so dark. it kept me hooked. although i do love spidey but thats because i used to love spiderman and his amazing friends. i always wanted to be firestar. how sad haha. and you cant beat the original superman.

ill probly keep editing this and adding to it. lol

whats been yours?

re: Superman Returns

Spiderman was pretty good, the second was also an improvement on the first. Looking forward to the next chapter.

The newest Batman was also a massive improvement on the previous poor attempts.

Of the new generation I like these in order but the oldies like Superman, Spiderman and the Hulk were much better.

X-Men 1, 2 and 3.
Fantastic Four
Superman returns
The Hulk

Can't think of anymore at the moment, I wonder if they'll do an Ironman...

Sin City was a quality film but I didn't realise it was a Marvel comic.

grocerygirl Posted on 11/12 16:37
re: Superman Returns

sin city was a grafic novel originally.

i forgot about xmen. i havent seen 3 yet. :(

i also agree about the batman film, much darker. although i have got a soft spot for val kilmer!

Captain America was one of the worst films ever made.

grocerygirl Posted on 11/12 16:40
re: Superman Returns

ive not seen it

Lisbonlegend Posted on 11/12 16:41
re: Superman Returns

X-Men 3 is pretty good and probably the best so far. Action all the way.

I must admit, Captain America wasn't the best like!

grocerygirl Posted on 11/12 16:44
re: Superman Returns

i shouldnt rent it at the weekend then?

no doubt xmen 3 will make its appearace on sky soon enough.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 11/12 16:45
re: Superman Returns

Captain America is ancient and probably came out in the 1970's. At the time I enjoyed it cos I was a young un but I don't think it will have aged very well!

re: Superman Returns

wasnt flash gordon a comic book too?

Lisbonlegend Posted on 11/12 16:50
re: Superman Returns

I think it was but I nver read it. Flash was a Marvel comic which was pretty good. I think they made a film of that but don't think it was that great. I think sometimes they lose the human touch to a film and concentrate too much on the effects which is why they flop. The likes of X-Men and Superman generally have strong characters which sets them apart a bit.

re: Superman Returns

i loved the flash gordon film. haha it was pretty piss poor though looking back. no doubt itll be on the sci-fi channel over christmas. im also a fan of the bast ard children that are spawned from the films successes such as smallville :(

re: Superman Returns

What do you mean, Flash Gordon approaching?

Yeah, Smallville isn't bad but I didnb't like the previous Superman series on BBC. That was pants.

grocerygirl Posted on 11/12 17:03
re: Superman Returns

you mean lois and clark the new adventures of superman. how very dare you. its being repeated as we speak on itv2 every week night. god i love sky+. havent missed and episode. have to admit though it is a bit of a chick prog. based mainly around the love story of lois and clark.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 11/12 17:05
re: Superman Returns

Exactly Mrs Grocery, it's not Superman, it's lovey dovey drivel. Where's the darkness and the action? It's far too nice.

How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?

grocerygirl Posted on 11/12 17:07
re: Superman Returns

im 29 but im 30 on the 20th. and i dont mind you asking although i have been rather more sensative about my age for some reason recently! argh

when you have a man like dean cane playing superman you dont need darkness and action you just need tights

All Xmen = mint
old superman + new superman = mint

old batman = first one is class, others not so
batman returns = mint

Spiderman 1 + 2 = mint, cant wait for 3.

Flash Gordon = classic film.

Sin City = good film, not as good as everyone says

Hulk = appalling

grocerygirl Posted on 11/12 17:10
re: Superman Returns

the hulk was on sky yesterday but i wasnt paying much attention to it. i have seen it before and if it had been any good i would have been glued.

Lisbonlegend Posted on 11/12 17:13

Not a huge fan of comics but I really like the new Spiderman films and the first two old Superman films. Spiderman 3 looks like it could be the best yet. Also looking forward to the Transformers film that's released next year - wasn't that Marvel comics?

Link for newest spiderman 3 trailer, this film looks to be the best of the comic-to-flim genre so far.

Look at the face the new badguy pulls after he screms "What does it matter to you". Looks like a right eejit

Link: Spiderman 3

re: Superman Returns

Looking forward to Hellboy 2 - hope they retain the GSoH

The film that most catches my eye is 300 - should be fantastic.

Sin City 2 will be nice if Jolie gets to play it like life, she is a hellcat. Spiderman 3 will be good, they are very like the comic and I don't see them losing that franchise, unless they are stupid enough to do a 'Batman'.

BTW, isn't Hulk getting a complete remake, this time using someone who keeps to the story, and does not O/D on CGI?
