I think he really did exist. But he did not do miracles. But people of that time classified it as miracles, because they did not know better. But I think he really existed. | |

I'm not sure there's any serious doubt that there was a bloke called Jesus who was born in Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth around 2010 years ago, and caused a spot of aggro in and around Jerusalem some thirty years later. Whether he was in fact the son of a deity or an Ickealike who happened along at the right time is more open to question, however. | |

No matter what your view of him as the son of God his historical and cultural effect upon his time can't be questioned. At the time an army of poor, disabled and dissafeced people thought that because the Jewish church wouldn't allow them access to spiritual cleansing they were going to hell, literally. Her Zues stood up for them and said that they didn't need a church sanction to get to heaven, they could forgive each other and get exactly the same result - which is why he held his gigs woodstock style instead of allowing ticketmaster to get all the pofit (profit - geddit!) Such a shame that a bigger institution (catholicism) was created in his name when he fought against them for much of his life. Jesus as a historical figure remains as important as the message that he gave. | |

What is debatable is whether he had siblings. Arceology (sp) suggests he indeed had a brother, but of course, this possible revelation would remain covered up by the church, namely, the Vatican. | |

If you're a Christian you believe that he did, if you're not it's got nothing to do with you. (Actually a lot of the other religions say he existed too) Scubes you can "celebrate" his crucifixion later next year (it's called Easter) | |

Just out of interest, what are the sources for most of these opinions/statements? What is the evidence he existed at all (regardless of whether he was the son of god). I'm not dissing your info just interested. Please avoid using the bible as evidence, as it's entirely possible alot of it was smoke and mirrors (let's face it, the entire old testament was one big sack of stories but I'm saying that alot of the new testament may also not be entirely truthful?) or was it pretty much on the money, historically speaking, of course. | |

It's matter of historical record that Jesus existed. Sorting the truth from fiction about his life is a mateer of historical enquiry - like all history. The Bible is one source, other scrolls from the dead sea are another as is historical data from the Catholic Church. However, there is no information at all regarding his life from thirteen years to about the age of thirty which has given rise to speculation that he had a wife and family. The trouble is (as in any historical matter) that you need to sort out the invested interests from the Catholic (who want to promote him as a deity) and historians of the time who try find the truth about his life. There isn't much evidence to go on to give a full picture and the less evidence there is the more gaps will be - but the fact that he existed is beyond doubt. | |

Michael Drosnin has been masivly discredited in recent times. The theory he uses can be used on nearly any book of size to give virtually any data you want. | |

I'm with a lot of people that there was a Jesus born in Jerusalem etc... But not sure if he did any of those miracles maybe he did who knows. As for the Bible I think it was just something someone made to keep people civil and right etc. But why wasn't there an update? Time changes why hasn't the Bible? | |
