Jim at work died last Friday...

of a heart attack. He was 48 and I had been speaking to him on the Thursday. I saw his wife yesterday at work and she broke down in tears, It was very sad. It's really affected my mate at work aswell and he told me "to just go and enjoy life while you can".

I think he's right.

My Dad died at 49, it's a critical age for a bloke 40-50. I can still hear his last words now "Fook me, a bus"!

re: Jim at work died last Friday...

I'd be trashed if my dad died. He's getting on now so it's inevitable but it's difficult even thinking something like that.

You certainly do mate. My family are in Oz (cept for one of my brothers) so it's not going to be my greatest Christmas but I'll treat my parents when they're back. I don't usually reflect at Christmas, I usually just get pissed but I think I'll reflect a bit more this year.

He was remarrying and we went to book the wedding, exactly one week later i went back to the same building to identify the body.
Cue depression tabs etc - still ache.

Nightmare mate, absolute nightmare. I lost my neice at 2 months old and that destroyed me for a long time. I'm not sure I could cope with losing my parents but I suppose I would have to.

I spent 7 hours in the Chemo Ward at James Cook Hospital today and it opens your eyes to life.
There are many many people suffering but still manage to keep smiling.
ENJOY IT WHILE YOU CAN.
Starting tomorrow down at the Riverside

Spare a moments thought to what your lost loved ones would have wanted.......

Have a craic, life is short, remember them often, and as Cloughie said, "be good"

re: Jim at work died last Friday...

Always liked this and seems to fit the thread...

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER

I'd dare to make more mistakes next time.
I'd relax, I would limber up.
I would be sillier than I have been this trip.
I would take fewer things seriously.
I would take more chances.

I would climb more mountains and swim more rivers.
I would eat more ice cream and less beans.
I would perhaps have more actual troubles,
but I'd have fewer imaginary ones.

You see, I'm one of those people who live
sensibly and sanely hour after hour,
day after day.

Oh, I've had my moments,
And if I had it to do over again,
I'd have more of them.
In fact, I'd try to have nothing else.
Just moments, one after another,
instead of living so many years ahead of each day.

I've been one of those people who never goes anywhere
without a thermometer, a hot water bottle, a raincoat
and a parachute.
If I had to do it again, I would travel lighter than I have.

If I had my life to live over,
I would start barefoot earlier in the spring
and stay that way later in the fall.
I would go to more dances.
I would ride more merry-go-rounds.
I would pick more daisies.

Nadine Stair,
85 years old.

Do you have kids Mappy? I was thinking that would be one thing to keep me going if anything ever happened to my parents. They wouldn't let you wallow.

That's all I'm asking from you.
Just give me the strength

And tomorrow may never be mine.
Lord help me today, show me the way
One day at a time.

Sorry for your mate lisbon, don't know how old you are but i can tell you i'm two years older than your friend was.
At 48 i made a decision to leave my place of employ after 30 years; never looked back.
Go for your dreams, but keep your feet on the ground and enjoy yourself, lifes too short.

I'm 30 Mr Wall and I did the same as you at 28. Jacked the job in but went travelling, it was the best thing I've ever done. It's nice to come back to Teesside but you have to leave to appreciate it's qualities and realise it's limitations I think.
