BBC4 last night

Did anyone see the documentary about the LA scene in the 60s and 70s - Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell to name but a few? It was fab, but (oh, the shame) I never knew that Graham Nash (of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young fame) was in The Hollies . Will I have to rescind my membership of the Music Clique?

Anyway, yet again another top show on BBC4.

"never knew that Graham Nash (of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young fame) was in The Hollies "....Good grief!!!

I know. I was a bit surprised about David Geffen as well.

Well, it was nice knowing you. I'm off to listen to U2...

I enjoyed it, although I was somewhat irked by the idea of California being a cultural wasteland before this lot rolled up. Pet Sounds was released in 1966.

Most of it was the soundtrack to my Dad's youth; hence having eagles/carole king tapes on non-stop when going on holidays.

Does anyone know how old Geffen is? We decided he looked pretty good because he must be getting on now.

Drifted in after it had started so ended up watching my 'I Didn't Know You Cared' DVD instead.

They will repeat it, won't they? Best channel on TV is BBC 4, though it's about time they got a few reality shows on there.

Carole King is truly a musical goddess.

I think it's back on Friday night. Certainly this week if not.

T'was great stuff. I liked the way Graham Nash kept talking about having "the best drugs" with a really wistful look in his eye.

David Geffen will be 64 next month, by the way. He looks fantastic, although he should have a go at growing the afro back.

64? There must a portrait in his attic looking very ropey. It was cheering to see Crosby with the exact same haircut and tache that he was sporting in 1969.

Crosby's always looked like that. There was a point in the mid-80s when he was indistinguishable from Jimmy Greaves.

No wonder he's never changed his look - he "always had the best drugs and naked women in his hot-tub".

If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.

Has anyone ever seen them in the same room? Jimmy Greaves, after the disappointment of the '66 world cup, moves to LA and fully becomes his alter-ego...

I heard that! Pardon?

I thought it was just me, Mr Bara.

Great story on it about Neil Young doing a festival and telling the audience he was going to do his new album and then stuff they knew...and then doing the new album twice and watching everyone walk out.

Two months after "Harvest" came out he must have thought it was sounding tired already.

I'm a bit sad really - I watched it twice! (They repeated it at about midnight)

It was a real shame that some of the characters weren't interviewed, although it would have been a real scoop if they'd managed to speak to Neil Young or Joni Mitchell.

Mind you - David Crosby was great value. His praise of other artists (Neil Young and Joni Mitchell) was sincere and showed great humility.

What was clear, was how much of a torch Dave Crosby must have held for Joni Mithcell all these years.

And the guy who was still blown away by a line written by Jackson Browne as a 17 year old!

Have to see this. 'I Didn't Know You Cared' or no 'I Didn't Know You Cared'. When's it on next, SL?

It's on at 10pm on Friday night, and then again in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

One on Thursday morning or, more sensibly, ten on Friday night.

Not that I'm grasping at straws to avoid work you understand.

Good. Should have finished the 'I Didn't Know You Cared' DVD by then. Pardon?

10 on Friday it is then

In answer to 'when's it on again' the answer should surely have been "tonight's the night"!

Even if it isn''t
