Recievers were called in last month, though I thought they were keeping the shops open

the ones in redcar and hartlepool are staying open but the one in Middlesbrough and Stockton are closing- since when did redcar and hartlepool become bigger than the boro and stockton for them to keep redcar and hartlepools open???

Probably cheaper to keep those open and move the stock from Middlesbrough.

They probably have less overheads, i.e. shoplifters.

The one in Boro has its shutters down but all the stock is still on the shelves.

I never usually get upset about a shop closing, but Music Zone... jeez, I must have kept them afloat the last couple of years, a brilliant shop, not only did I buy DVD's there, but I got a barrow load of books as well, sadly there's no other shop like it, I will buy even more stuff online (if that's possible)

Yes, it had some bargains ... but bouncers on the door of a music shop! Ooph! No thanks.

I'd love to know who the genius was who changed their policies though. Up to about a year ago, it was cheap CDs, good back catalogue, cheap books, some gems, and DVDs as a sideline almost. Then it became chart at full price, the back catalogues disappeared, and they seemed to be concentrating on selling DVDs - certainly started taking up more floorspace. Idiots.

i worken in redcar until yesterday. it all started to go wrong when the old owner sold up to his second in command. i watched them make bad decision after bad decision. the big shame part of it was all the teesside stores were doing quite well, especially redcar and h'pool. i know redcar regularly took more money than the middlesbrough store and had much lower rent/rates(and was a much nicer shop imho). anyone with vouchers or credit notes should try contacting the administrators, deloitte and touche LLP 2, hardman street manchester M60 2AT you might get something but i think there will be a long queue.

Good man longpig, any idea what they're doing with the stock? Firesale or bulk to warehouse type shop? And good luck!

sw2boro no idea what's going on with the stock at the moment. we were shipping the first wave of closed stores stock back into the chain, we were due to start middlesbrough today but all the music zone employed clearing teams have been made redundant now. the administrator who closed redcar down hinted everything would be sold off soon enough though. do you work for an interested party?
