I wouldn't worry about a visa it's all the innoculations you'll need to have against malaria, yellow fever, aids the pox etc..but you will be ok if you keep away from certain types of bars.

If you are staying less than a month you do not need a visa. Accomodation depends on budget. I would sort your accomodation out when you get there as they are rarely full and then you can see what you like.

It depends on the type of accommodation you are looking for in Thailand. Some of the room rates for the hotels are a lot more expensive if you just turn up at the door. There is plenty of accommodation at the budget end of the scale which can be used, some of it very good and others shall we say not so good. If you are looking for recommendations for hotels then I have been and stayed in quite a few, hotmail.com my name above if it would help

Depends on what you are going for. If it's travelling or a holiday then I can advise some cracking places. If it's sex tourism then I'm not your man.

I would recommend this hotel in Phuket. Its aboout 3km outside of Patong, so its far enough away to have a quiet break, but close enough to get the hotel shuttle bus in if you fancy the bars, restaurants, clubs, etc. We stayed in an ocean view villa, but there was plenty of accommodation types to choose from, at various bugets. Its got a fabulous pool and its own private beach, a fantastic spa and several restaurants. Take a look at the link below...

"Depends on what you are going for. If it's travelling or a holiday then I can advise some cracking places. If it's sex tourism then I'm not your man." Believe it or not that isn't the main reason I'm going. If I'm still single then it'll be a massive factor but I have these horrible things called morals so if I find myself a girl in the next few months it'll be totally out of the question. Our budget is fairly high, we can all save up and go to a decent rate. Thanks for the advise all of you. Newholgate, that hotel looks amazing. --- Post edited by Cobain_94 on 11/2 2:18 ---

Cobain, it was amazing! I've just been looking back at the photo gallery section on that website....ahh, the memories! One of the added luxuries we had in our room was a jacuzzi on the balcony. It was fabulous just to sit in there with those magnificent views of the bay (those rooms are the ones set into the hillside on the home page). The staff there we the nicest people we have ever met in any hotel we have ever stayed in. While in Thailand (probably when you are in Pattaya), try if you can to get up to Kanchanaburi to see the Bridge over the River Kwai. I think that was one of the most moving experiences I've ever had. We went to the war graves first, then on to the JEATH Museum. From there, we took a boat along the River Kwai to the Bridge. We walked over the bridge first, then took a train along 'Death Railway', which goes up to the Burmese border. Its an experience I will never forget. Try to get to Bankok too, especially if you like sightseeing. The Royal temples and palaces there are fantastic. From Phuket, you will be close enough to take a trip up to the Phang-Nga Province, where you can take a boat trip out to James Bond Island, the one from "The Man with the Golden Gun". The scenery there is lovely. We also stopped off at Kho Panyi, which is a kind of floating island, attached to a big rock. We also had a few days break away from Phuket at Phi Phi Island. A boat runs daily between Phuket and Phi Phi. Its where "The Beach" was filmed and is a fantastic place for really relaxing and unwinding. I'm sure you will have a fantastic time. I wish I was going back!

Sounds like a good holiday. We're already planning jungle tours and fishing trips in Samui (never been fishing but how hard can it be?). Also does anyone know of anywhere I can quickly get an open water dive license over here before I go? Yeah will look into a few of those things newholgate, thanks.

Been to Thailand a few times, love it there. Been to Koh Samui 3 times over the last 10 years. it has changed beyond all recognition in this time. Not necessarily for the better unfortunatley, but, it is still a lovely island all the same. Last time I went, I stayed at Coral Bay and it was fantastic. Completely recommend it. Also would recommend a place on Koh Tao if you're going there. let me know and I'll try to remember what it was called again. Think paradise though.
