FAO FW2

Are you back yet ? I've just finished a spell of 12 night shifts in the last 2 weeks so haven't been on the board much.

How was the concert ? it got a mixed review in The Times.

Would have loved to have gone myself, and would of if not for work.

Did you hear any gossip of a tour this year. I'm expecting one late Spring to promote the album, thought you might have nosed about a bit, and got some info.

Off to bed now, I've got a whole day off today.

It's been Rufus mania all over the London press for the last couple of days, just about everything you pick up has his little pointy sideboards on.

Fingers crossed for a "proper" tour soon.

re: FAO FW2

Woo! Yes, Im back, and had an absolutely fabulous time. I was a bit worried that the whole night might not live up to my (ridiculously high) expectations but the boy didn't let me down.

He did the whole set song by song, and spoke for a bit in the same spaces that she had done in 1961. Had a 40-piece (I think) orchestra on the stage behind him and the whole sound was fantastic. He did the big songs with gusto, and the slow ones were heartbreakingly beautiful. Martha came on the in the second part, dressed the part in a vintage dress and with her hair all pinned, and sang Stormy Weather which was phenomenal. Lorna Luft also made an appearance and thanked Rufus for doing the whole thing. He got a bit emotional during Somewhere Over the Rainbow as he had sung that with his mum last time around but apparently she has cancer and wasn't there on Saunday, so that was a bit of a lump in the throat moment. Martha came back on and did Someone To Watch Over Me (blub) and after another big number that was it. It was truly a great night.

Loads of celebs there (David Furnish sat literally in the seat in front of us) and I got to meet Ray Davies.

As far as a 'proper' tour goes, I know he's just announced a few dates in the US in April so it's basically just a matter of 'watch this space'. I'll certainly let you know if I hear anything. Hope it's not the first two weeks in June or I'll be cancelling our holiday.
