It would be in the best interests of the town

...if I continued as mayor.

So says Ray Mallon in the Gazette today.

I agree that the job is only half done...there's still one or two historic buildings still standing in Middlesbrough.

"My role is continually changing but the real focus remains the same - to sell Middlesbrough as a product," he said.

What would the product be I wonder?

Well chiefly hardcore and gravel but some residual waste might require incinerating I suppose.

I think he's done an alright job....

I moved from Boro 4 years ago and theres been a huge improvement in the place, always something new every time I come back.

I'd vote for him but wouldn't trust him......

"What would the product be I wonder"?

No nonsense, No frills, industrial northern town.
Needs investment but sells cheap.

"If I am re-elected I intend to do my job in a similar vein as at present for 70% of the week but for 30% of the time I will concentrate on young people - particularly the 10-year-olds."

Can't help thinking he sounds slightly idiotic.

Oh to be a ten year old in Middlesbrough today, gifted with 30% of Mallon's time. Free gold top milk in the classrooms no doubt, not to mention extra-curricular lessons in 'cleaning up the streets' and 'stomping about the place'.
