| 1800 tickets left at 2.15pm | |
Being sold at the ground stopped phone sales and online.

Good move by the club. Reward those who are actually down at the ground. You cant please everyone and those who live far away have had the opportunity to buy them on line etc. Plus it ensures Manc fans wont be snapping them up.

Those who live far away have had the opportunity!!?!?!? Only the same opportunity who live on the doorstep. But you're right those who travel x hundred miles for a home game have it easy compared to those who stumble out of their local boozer to the riverside.

Or in fact don't leave the boozer because they watch the matches there instead of going to the Riverside........

There are a lot more 'I'm alright Jack's in the boro than I thought there were.

Those who live far away do they not have relatives or friends who live local who can get tickets for them?.

Not really as easy as ringing up friends/family and saying "Ere get down the Riverside for us" is it?

celestron, I haven't got any relatives who could spend 3 hours of their day queuing at the riverside. We all work, you see.

“Those who live far away do they not have relatives or friends who live local who can get tickets for them?.” What they do is as soon as the tickets go on general sale, they either call the ticket line number of log on and order on line, or send in a postal application on the day after we beat West Brom. As long as you don’t sit back and hope the game isn’t sold out at £20 a go, you should be ok. For those without phones, internet access, access to a post box, don’t live near Teesside, without local mates, credit cards, and students/unemployed who only have enough money to buy 3 tins of soup and a loaf of bread for the next two weeks, I think the club should do more.

ccole - we were just querying why earlier posters believed that people with chuff all to do in life who live next door to the riverside were more deserving than those who travel vast distances to each game.

No mater where you live, you could have bought the tickets on line, by post, or by phone. It’s equal for everybody, except for the last hour/1800 tickets where those that physically turned up at the ground had priority I live in Stockton and bought mine that way. What more can the club do? --- Post edited by ccole on 7/3 15:57 ---

There were serious problems with the online purchase this morning. Several hours wait in a phone line queue once you manage to get in the queue. There are 1800 tickets left and no one at the Riverside. The question is simply - why have tickets on the online site been removed and the phone lines shut down. It is purely stopping those fans who make the greatest effort to get the game from getting a ticket.

"It is purely stopping those fans who make the greatest effort to get the game from getting a ticket."...presumably these people will have season tickets then?

Maybe the ticket office made the decision to stop phone / online purchasing once these had slowed down to virtually zero? And there were still big queues outside? Surely must have been some way of monitoring how busy they were?

| re: 1800 tickets left at 2.15pm | |
if indeed theres no-one queuing now and theres 1800 tickets left it seems bizarre to stop online and telephone sales.

Presume away Piquet. Although you may not be right. I haven't got a season ticket as I tend to miss about 4 games a season due to being on call.

Maybe they made a conscious decision, knowing how many they had left to sell, to split them in half X amount to phone/on-line and X amount to those in the queues, bearing in mind that it is much quicker to buy on line and phone than over the counter, maybe those tickets ran out first?

Fair point. I hadn't thought about that.

Yes they stopped the phone and online at a certain cut off point as PK says. There are now very few tickets left - it will almost certainly sell out this afternoon.
