Koh Samui/Koh Phangan advice

We're looking to book up beach bungalows for the full moon party at the end of June. We would ideally like to spend 4 nights in samui and then go onto Koh Phangan for 3 nights to do the Full Moon Party.

The problem with this is all of the hotels, bungalows and guest houses have a minimum stay of 5 nights in Koh Phangan on the full moon party. I'm just wondering if the nightlife on Koh Phangan is lively when there's no full moon party?

It looks like there's loads to do there during the day so if the nightlife's good we probably would stay for five days.

Cobain_94:
I'm going to the full moon party at the end of June too. Went to the June and October 2006 parites as well. We always stay on Koh Samui then get the speed boats over, (they run every half an hour from about 7 to and from Pangang)

The full moon party in Pattaya is shiite. Not the real thing, no where near as good and you have to pay! The whole point of the moon party is having it where it all began!!! Can't knock Pattaya though! best place for a young lad to be in the whole of the world!!!!

Never. I've wanted to go for a long time. The plan is 2 days in Pattaya, a week in Samui, 2 nights in Phuket and 5 nights in Koh Phi Phi.

Can you recomend any good hotels in those places?

How old are you mate?
I would advise you to spend the majority of your time in Pattaya as that is where most of the nightlife (and women) are! The hotle i always stay in in Pattaya is called Sabai Resort. The people are absoloutely sound asfuck. Do anything for you (most Thai people are like that) Do all your laundry and ironing for you and stuff like that.

When you go to Koh Samui the best area of the island is the Chaweng Beach area. Good nightlife (not as good as Pattaya but still very lively.) The beaches are really nice here as well. Spot on little restaurants along the beach on a night where all your ea food etc is cooked next to the water for you. Pattaya has more of a Benidorm beach. Shiite really but you don't go to Pattaya for the beaches!! I stayed in a hotel called Chaweng Cove resort last time, really nice but i was only there for 3 days.

Phuket is more up market. Nicer bars and clubs etc and a lively nightlife. I can't really recomend a hotel for you here because i didn't really like where i stayed here last time. (even though it was recommended to me!) Beaches again absoloute paradise.

I have never been to Phi Phi before but am going when i go for 5 weeks in June. I've heard however, that there's not much (if any at all) nightlife here. It's complete paradise though, the film The Beach was filmed there. I think it's more of a day trip/few night stop over to relax.

When you go to Pattaya go to a bar called The Lazy Pig. It's a boro lad called Darren Collins who owns it. has all 3 games on every Saturday including Boro games! Happy days lad!
Hope this helps mate, enjoy!

re: Koh Samui/Koh Phangan advice

Thanks for the tips. I'm 23 so a good age to go by the sounds of it.

My friends recently came back and we've planned this based on what they've said and other people we know who've been have said. My mates went to Koh Phi Phi with the intention of staying for a couple of days and stayed there for 2 weeks.

Pattaya looks superb nightlife but not enough good beaches/fishing/diving/snorkelling for my liking which is just as much a reason I'm going as nightlife and women. Either way I don't think I'll come home dissapointed.

Oh yeah, I enquired about the Sabai Resort in Pattaya, it says no reservations available, I think it might be down to the length of time we're staying there. Is there a minimum number of nights you have to stay there do you know?

Just one point although the beach at Pattaya i agree is not great, a short boat ride away is an Island with superb beaches and all the diving , snorkelling etc you want !!!! For hotels i suggest the www.penthousehotel.com. But open it when you are alone
