Random fact OR nonsense

BUT NOT BOTH. Very important rule, that.

Random fact: Stony Stratford's two High Street pubs are reputed to be the source of the phrase "Cock and Bull story".

Carry on.

The phrase "rule of thumb" is derived from an old English law which stated that you couldn't beat your wife with anything wider than your thumb.

I don't think people actually used their thumbs, captain. No length was specified, so you could probably use other parts of your anatomy if they met the width criterion.
