Paisley and Adams agree: no credit to Blair?

The report linked says that it isn't clear why the main parties in NI have chosen May 8 for the restoration of devolved government.

Is it perhaps that they know Blair's going four days earlier and don't want him to claim any credit?

Tony's going on Star Wars Day?

I suspect he may go a few days later...

Hope no-one forgets Mo Mowlam's contribution in all this.

re: Paisley and Adams agree: no credit to Bla

Historic day for Northern Ireland. What is even more surprising is The Big Fella not only sitting down at the same table as Sinn Fein/IRA, but actually being able to come to an agreement with them. Maybe for once, the words "compromise" and "pragmatism" have entered his vocabulary. Maybe, the thought of being First Minister and having the power that goes with it was too big a carrot for him. Maybe the same goes for Adams and McGuinness. The thought of finally being in power was too big an opportunity to throw away.

They are after all, politicians. The only thing they enjoy more than brinksmanship is power.
