Paintballing fundraiser

I am going to organise a paintballing session at either Guisborough or Scotch corner to raise a bit of cash for the new bus that the wheelies use. No date has been set yet but I will be aiming for around the beginning of June.

I don't know exact details as yet, but I want to know rough numbers interested to try and get the best deal we can get. It costs roughly 10 per person with about 100 paintballs free I think, but I would be aiming to get 15 per person - the extra fiver going to the "new willie fund"

If you're interested could you please leave your name below and the venue you would prefer to go to - I'll go with the majority and I'll ring up on Thursday to get exact details from the place.

LOOKS LIKE SCOTCH CORNER - Guisborough - poster below says it has closed But maybe it is isn't I shall ring around on Thursday

1.chboro - either venue

The Guisborough site your on about (directly opposite the end of Flatts Lane) has been closed for yonks now! Sorry for the bad tidings!

re: Paintballing fundraiser

That's a bugger then cos it was still advertised on a website the other night.

Kidsbelly Posted on 7/4 21:40
re: Paintballing fundraiser

right, rather that give you 100% duff gen, I'm going to tell you my logic and you can make your own mind up! I drive over Flatts lane ever working day, and there USED to be a sign at the entrance of the paint balling site advertising the place! This sign is no longer there, and hasn't been there for yonks now! My pals told me there was some sort of serious incident there a while back, but I can't remember reading anything about it! I do flit round the country with work so theres obviously a chance I missed it when they published it! I have therefore been presuming by the face it no longer has an advertising sign, that it is closed! However, if it's still being advertised on the net, then I MAY be incorrect in my assumption......or you may be looking at an old website!

I just checked the site again and it won't let you book for Guisborough online even though they are advertising it so I would presume your presumption is right. I shall do a bit of hunting and look for alternative venues to compare prices.

Come on commi, I want to shoot a Geordie

I'll start a new thread with exact details on it within the next week or so. Then we'll go from there. I want to negotiate the deposits to see if I can pay so much up front rather than the full lot - otherwise I'll have to be getting some money up front and I'd rather not do that. But I can cover most of it until the day.

chboro Posted on 8/4 19:32
re: Paintballing fundraiser

Looks like - but I will confirm, the sedgefield one is 25 for the day including 500 balls and hot meal. If I can get the price down I will, but I doubt it.

open_goal Posted on 8/4 19:33
re: Paintballing fundraiser

At the croft one (best one imo):

its 10 for full day, all equipment, lunch n 100 paintballs.

Then normally you needd about another 400/500 which are about 25.

But if there is lots you get discount n if there is over 30 people you get an organiser bonus of a free gun which you get raffle/auction/sell on ebay and use the proceeds for the minibus. (gun is worth alot)

re: Paintballing fundraiser

From the one near Sedgefield:

our venue can hold maximum of 40 people, minimum of 10,
our game fees are as follows
half day, 10 per person with 100 paintballs, extra paintballs at a cost of
5 per hundred.
full day, 25 per person with 500 paintballs and lunch and a trophy for each
player of the winning team, extra paintballs at a cost of 5 per hundred,
minimum age to play at our venue is 12 years old, all players need to fill
in disclaimers, under 16 year olds need counter signed by an adult.
if you
decide to book with us, ive attached a booking form to this e-mail, for you
to print off, fill it in and post to the address on the form with a cheque
as a deposit for 10
for each of the players you have playing

No probs F_S - will be sorting stuff out in the next couple of weeks so no rush.

Trying to raise some money towards the disabled supporters new bus as their current one is approaching the end of it's life and they're raising funds for a new one.

If it is possible for you to speak with him that would be fantastic - the better deal we get the more we raise basically so any help is appreciated.

Lifer_Reilly Posted on 8/4 20:56
re: Paintballing fundraiser

No problem, will have a word with him when I'm back at work on Tuesday. He's a decent lad, likes Boro, so hopefully will be able to arrange something. Plus it's good publicity for him.

He's got a decent paintballing site, I've done the risk assessments for him for the last few years and he's put some good features in, such as the 'village scenario' plus some ex forces stuff for games.

It's easy to get to, just near Kirklevington/Picton off the A19 for people to get there as well.

re: Paintballing fundraiser

We'll be advertising in a few places hopefully to try and get as many people as the venue allows so that would obviously benefit him. If you can have a word and collar me once you have done I'll pass on my email address to you.

Thanks again, as I say - any help is appreciated. We'd be looking for a Saturday or Sunday in early June ideally.

Lifer_Reilly Posted on 8/4 21:16
re: Paintballing fundraiser

Right, gone one better. Have just spoke to him. Well up for it.

He's offered the following.

10 with 100 paintballs in. He's going to give 5 to the cause out of that 10. In addition, it's 5 for an additional 100 paintballs and for each purchase he will give 1 to the cause.

He's also suggested if we can get some stuff together to do raffles etc on the day. He's prepared to get as much money out of people as possible for it.

The sessions are roughly four hours long and includes snacks.

If we can get enough interest then he can run two sessions, (around 100 per session) and if people want to do two sessions then they can - more money for the cause.

I'll keep an eye on it here, plus Blondie has your email address I believe to can contact you via that if you want.

chboro Posted on 8/4 21:24
re: Paintballing fundraiser

That is superb! Looks like I can stop emailing around

Right, my board email addy - if you don't have it I will post it up then forward my personal one. We'll need to sort out the advertising for it, so I think it would be easier done through email than over the message board.

The question is - if he is going to charge 10 and donate 5, do I still add five to it or just ask for people to make additional donations on the day?

I'm in Smifter's boat here, I don't want to have a go but I'll lob 20 quid in and some prizes for a raffle, if there's one on.

If I can arrange some cover for the shop I will attend a session.

You don't have to run - just hide and shoot

If you click on the banner both my and Paddy's contact details are on it. All donations of money and prizes for the raffle are obviously welcome

re: Paintballing fundraiser

I'll presume alcohol isn't allowed to be consumed on site for safety reasons.

Nothing stopping you going to the pub down the road for your lunch tho.
