| This Is The MODern World | |
"Information chips implanted in the brain. Electromagnetic pulse weapons. The middle classes becoming revolutionary, taking on the role of Marx's proletariat. The population of countries in the Middle East increasing by 132%, while Europe's drops as fertility falls. "Flashmobs" - groups rapidly mobilised by criminal gangs or terrorists groups. "This is the world in 30 years' time envisaged by a Ministry of Defence

When the MOD start looking into their crystal ball, the thought process is usually "OK, so we've just got back from the Paris arms fair and we've seen loads of cool new weapons. What threats can we think up to get the treasury to stump up the cash for them?". I can't work out what kind of kit they are after with half of those predictions though.

Hardly anything revolutionary there - any man in the street with an interest in current affairs could have come up with that. The best bit about the article is the picture: Caption "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

its one scenario that MOD "scientists" have envisaged, it doesnt say that it is what the MOD are using to plan their future on. oh and it was the guardian, similar to when people dismiss those right wing scaremongering stories on imigration and PC mad councils in the mail i suppose

Paris Arms Fair? The cuisine is better than London I suppose. There doesn't seem to be much justification for Trident in there. The think tank may be told to think again.
