Not sure why the final is played in COunty Durham. Not sure why York City are allowed to enter, either. Are there any other non-North Riding teams allowed in?
| buffaloboro Posted on 25/4 2:45 | |
| re: North Riding Senior Cup Final Tonight | |
good point re York City. They don't belong to any part of Yorkshire ( how can they be in a shire of their own City ? )
| Shaun71 Posted on 25/4 7:35 | |
| re: North Riding Senior Cup Final Tonight | |
Not sure about York really. My geography isnt the best but arent they in North Yorkshire and once part of the North Riding. Past winners of the North Riding Senior Cup, but not allowed to play in it now are the likes of Billingham Synthonia

nice to see graeme owens back, think he would have been knocking on the first team door had it not been for injury. he's been out quite a while i was hoping it was,nt another danny reed job!

| re: North Riding Senior Cup Final Tonight | |
When Yorkshire had Ridings, York stood on its own and wasn't in any of them. When local government was reorganised in 1974 York became part of North Yorkshire. County FAs don't always follow strict county boundaries and certainly not boundaries as they stand today. All clubs had to affiliate to a county FA which is why York City were part of the North Riding FA when, strictly speaking, York wasn't in the North Riding.

I saw the Synners beat Boro years ago if my memory serves me right. I can't understand why the game isn't played at the Riverside, would be great for the non league players.

| re: North Riding Senior Cup Final Tonight | |
To be fair to York, whilst not "in" the north riding, they were surrounded by it
| Capybara Posted on 25/4 10:11 | |
| re: North Riding Senior Cup Final Tonight | |
To be fair to Tomo, you're completely wrong. York was at the meeting point of the three ridings

It wld be good if this Cup was promoted a little more - final to be played at the Boro or Scarborough ( as the only 2 clubs that I can think of who have half decent teams in the North Riding )
