By the way, if you enjoy Tim Moore, then you'll like Charlie Connelly (The Shipping News and In Search of Elvis). While we're on a Stuart Maconie tack, can I take the cahnce to again reommend his book 'Cidar with Roadies' for, at the very least; A) it's title B) it's description of Goths and C) his recounting of going on tour with Napalm Death.

Lizards - excellent, well worth a gander. Although I found he did occasionally stray into Geordie/Teessider confusion. Much better on the North Western leg of the journey - understandable as he's from Wigan. Some laugh out loud moments, but the whole thing is just beautifully written. BigHorace - not sure. I'm usually me, but views differ. I'll chase up those other bits and pieces, ta. --- Post edited by speckyget on 24/4 12:28 ---

Berlin: The Downfall 1945 by Antony Beevor. Well worth a read if you are interested in this period of history. Not quite finished it but I was amazed that Hitler married Eva Braun whilst the Red Army had already stormed many of the buildings in central Berlin, the wehrmacht and the SS were shooting each other as often as the Soviets and the behaviour of Stalin was little (if any) better than the nazis. Next up will be the new Tolkein.

Getting back to the books... Brick Lane by Monica Ali - fail to see what all the fuss was about. Not a patch on Zadie Smith's White Teeth which covers some similar ground. The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova - a modern retelling of the Dracula story, very enjoyable and 20 times better than anything by Dan Brown or others of that ilk.

You know that one already, Jumpy, and now you're running out of material because you keep mentioning it. And all because I made a joke at your mate's expense. He is perfectly capable of fighting his own corner and dishing it out. But for some reason the pink mist descended when I dared to engage in some banter with him (as we often do on these threads).
