re: YORKSHIRE V Hampshire (2007).

I hope MOXON has WARNEd Hampshire they might as well CRAWLEY back under the stone from which they have come. Once we take the field they will be TREMLETTing* in their boots and their pants will turn BROWN

Once GOUGH and HOGGARD get into their stride Hampshire will be DIZZY and drip WHITE when the balls are whizzing past their ADAMS apple

The pitch will be TAYLOR made for RASHID who will be spinning the ball so much the LAWSON physics will have to be re-written.

Can YORKSHIRE win again I hear you SAYERS, of course we KHAN it is as nailed on as RUDOLPH pulling Santa’s sleigh at Christmas

*TREMLETTing, trembling, obviously. Surely I don’t still have to explain myself now?

M P Vaughan, J J Sayers, A McGrath, Younis Khan, J A Rudolph, G L Brophy, A Rashid, T T Bresnan, D Gough, J N Gillespie, M J Hoggard.

That's the best Yorkshire XI for quite a while IMO. Strong top order batting, first class 100s down to No 10, good variety of bowling and a nice blend of youth and experience. To think that only a couple of months ago we were worried what kind of a team Yorks would be able to field this season.

Celestron Posted on 3/5 19:17
re: YORKSHIRE V Hampshire (2007).

Ray...not quite certain how I feel about this, if Vaughans knee has gone again then we and England could be bolloxed. We will have to play well tomorrow to give ourselves a good chance of winning the game but we do bat right down the order so we must have a good chance of getting a good total to bowl at and we do have the attack to bowl out sides...hope Vaughan can bat tomorrow.

ray192 Posted on 3/5 19:22
re: YORKSHIRE V Hampshire (2007).

Celestron

I know what you mean but the balance of power is now firmly in their camp even if Vaughn can bat (fingers crossed he can). We must bat very well tomorrow,i would think we need at least a 350 total to defend if not a few more.

Celestron Posted on 3/5 19:30
re: YORKSHIRE V Hampshire (2007).

Difficult to say what sort of total will be required depends on the state of the wicket. But Khan, Rudolph and the rest of them will have to be at their best tomorrow...fingers crossed.

Scoffery open tomorrow usual time..will stroll in for a Bacon Sarnie...see you tomorrow.

I hope you had a bit of the 25/1 for Yorkshire to win the County Championship chaps...the Rashid lad seems to have lots of promise, not too sure McGrath will get you enough runs at number 3,you will need the overseas boys to fire.Plenty of bowling firepower though, looks promising if they can stay fit...

The news about Vaughan is a blow as it puts us at 52-3 and with Hoggarth not likely to last long then it could be 4 down soon after play starts so it's up to Khan and Rudolph initially to turn it around and hopefullY the tail will wag and we can set them a decent total.

re: YORKSHIRE V Hampshire (2007).

Ray,

County cricket doesn't exactly grab me much these days with so many other competitions on through the Summer and teams weakened by test players contracted out - nice to see Yorks at the top - but admire your obsession with keeping a ball by ball monitor on each day's play.

Reminds me of when I was a lad I used to score ball by ball the matches I attended in my cricket scorepad. Went to the Oval to see West Indies score 606 and Richards got 150. When cricket was full of characters. Nowadays there aren't those players who capture your imagination anymore. Crowds have dwindled and I got bored. Don't know why I scored. Bill Frindall always did it a lot lot better.

Anyway your time with one ear on the cricket and two hands on your keypad. You obviously are not a market gardener?

ray192 Posted on 4/5 13:41
re: YORKSHIRE V Hampshire (2007).

C_B

Cheers for that mate . But your right County cricket has took a beating with all this contract cricket stuff which i find absolutely a waste of time . Surely you get better practice playing the game than just hav'ing a net session .

C'MON YORKSHIRE .

I'm fine Ray. My new bed arrived today - was told it was a gurenteed am delivery, phoned then at half 12 to ask how much longer I would have to wait.

And that I wanted my delivery charge re-funded as they missed the deadline.

I like it. Mind you I'd like it even more if Flintoff's declaration in Australia wasn't so recent in my memory.

If they can score 440 then they'll deserve it. Hopefully they will give it a bit of a dash and give a few wickets away.

Raynondo....when I said look after the shop while I went to work yesterday I wasn't thinking in terms of 439-4d..well done

I had no idea how things had gone whilst at work I couldn't get to a radio or the internet so the first I knew was when I got home last night.

Super Hoggy the super night watchman...I found this on the BBC teletext..."Yorkshire nightwatchman Matthew Hoggard had driven Stuart Clarke and Shane Warne POTTY by hitting 61 in the morning"..
