Thank You to generous Boro Fans

Generous Boro fans have successfully raised £3,970 for Teesside Hospice after a bucket collection was held at the Riverside Stadium prior to last Saturday’s match against Tottenham Hotspur.

Debbie Coulson, Marketing Manager at Teesside Hospice, said: “We are delighted to have raised so much and would like to thank MFC and its loyal supporters for their continued generosity - they really are making a difference to the lives of local people.

"Most people are surprised to learn that our annual running costs are in excess of £1.8 million. We receive in the region of one third of these costs from the local NHS and must therefore raise approximately £3,200 each and every day of the year from our own resources.

“Middlesbrough Football Club has now raised more than £36,000 in aid of Teesside Hospice through various fundraising activities including the Community Shield, bucket collections, raffles and donations.

“It is only with the support of local businesses such as the football club and its supporters that we are able to provide specialist palliative care services to local people when they need it the most.”

Based in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, Teesside Hospice Care Foundation was established in 1982 to enhance the lives of local people suffering from life limiting illnesses.

The hospice cares for over 3,000 individuals each year living in Tees Valley, South Durham and North Yorkshire. All services are free of charge.

I maybe should have put a different title to this - but its just to let everyone know how much was raised at Saturday's bucket collection and how appreciated it is by Teesside Hospice.

They do a lot of good work.

Here's hoping they keep raising enough to keep making a difference in the local area..

Teesside Hospice is really the only Charity I'd dig deep for, others I'd just flip a odd 50p in the bucket, but they looked after me grandad when he was suffering with throat cancer 10 Year ago, so I put about £4 odd in there.
