What's happening with 6 Music? They've got rid of lots of good presenters (can't believe Andrew Collins has gone  ) and in the last few weeks there are incessant adverts for Eastenders and the chuffing FA Cup final. I know it's still better than loads of other stations, but I'm starting to get a bit pissed off with it. | |

Dr_Evil - it's usually quite an eclectic mix, but leaning more towards your 'indie' audience. Actually, no it's not just indie, there's loads of stuff on there - just none of your Radio 1/Century/Galaxy gubbins. | |

Never mind 6Music what about Mark Radcliffe moving from his weekday 10.30pm-12 slot on Radio 2! Now he's on with Stuart Maconie (no bad thing) but from 8pm-10! Who listens to the radio that time of day? | |

Calvin Harris (ARGH!), Kate Nash (ARGH! ARGH!) and Nemone (ARGH! AR... you get my drift). The three reasons I'm listening to 6 Music less and less. I still like Gideon Coe (and thank God for him) but as soon as he's off I have a lovely little wander over to the soothing tones of Classic FM or Radio 3. That's it, it's old age.

Sounds like you're getting the same feeling I am, that 6Music is turning into an XFM/Galaxy hybrid rather than the station for people too old to read the NME it once was. If you can get away with listening online at work, I can recommend The Word Magazine's own station. Oh, and going back to Andrew Collins (right at the top there), have you read his books about his life? I've just finished the first (about him growing up as a child in the 70's) and am about to start the second (about being a student during the 80's). Brings back lots of memories!! | |

Howdy Scrounger Can't listen online, have to use a DAB, but thanks anyway. And yes, I've read both of AC's books and loved them both. I think I preferred the first one purely for sentimental reasons - he just comes across as a really lovely bloke from a fantastic family. Saying that, the second one certainly struck a few chords too, but I try to forget my 'higher education' days as they weren't the best. Oh, and I've just bought The Crane Wife for Himself's birthday - have only heard Valencia so far so I'll ahve a good listen before he gets it.

When (and where) are they playing? I wanted to go and see Laura Veirs a couple of weeks ago but didn't know anyone else who liked her. Meh. No! I'm trying to be good and save money at the moment. No more gigs! (Apart from Rufus, natch ).
