Seems his appointment has not gone down to well. These comments are from the Radio 5 messageboard; Can you name a worse appointment? I seriously cannot think of one. I mean Peter Reid is awful but is surely better. Dave Basset has won countless promotions. Bryan Robson has ruined countless football establishments Robbo has a massive drink problem allegedly, look at his face he is totally on the sauce! He was a yo yoer with middlesboro despite massive financial backing. I think he will be a disaster for you, and that Warnock did a brilliant job for you and you will miss him. Still, 6 points for PNE next season! Robson : the lights are on but theres no one in Robson weas not curelly sacked and did not keep us (West Brom) up. Charlton, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Norwich kept us up. He was sacked after showing complete ineptitude and incompetence. Sheff U fans....now he's been taken on, you are right to give him a chance....BUT, don't make our mistake. One of Robson's problems in management is he doesn't recognise mistakes and therefore doesn't learn from any of them. For this reason, your start to season will be littered with the same symptoms as ours, Bradford's and Boro's failed seasons under him. Your players will put on weight, become hopelessly unfit, be shambolic at set pieces, become an ageing squad, Hulse wasn't rated by Robson so will be replaced by someone like Hartson, you'll hear excuses and "we played some great football" after ever game no matter how inept the performance was.....to sum up, do give him time, don't ignore the above symptoms and others.... The man is a disaster. His win rate is normally about 25%. That wont win promotion. And Bryan Kidd has a rich managing history as well. I'm completly gutted about having Robson appointed. Our chances of being promoted have just been halved. While the chance of having our carefully rebulit and solidly mantained club ruined have doubled. Robson is an awful, sodden (alledgedly...)excuse of a manager. This baffling decision by a usually sensible board is going to cost us dear. I'm afraid Sheffield United have jumped out of the frying pan into the fire if they want to be re-established as a Premiership club. As a West Bromwich Albion supporter, and someone who likes Robson personally, I think he is a reasonable manager handling average players in the Championship. He neither has the imagination or the tactical ability, in my opinion, to handle a Premiership team and that has been proved throughout his managerial career. He might get United up - then the best thing they can do is sack him Negatives: Rubbish football, to say we played stylish football under Robson is complete myth, he was very negative. He played Kevin Campbell on his own up front for a majority of last season, leaving the likes of Kanu, Earnie, Duke, and Kamara on the bench or in the reserves. Man management skills were pathetic, fell out with our best players Earnie and Koumas, he sold Earnie and nearly sold Koumas for 1.5Mil to Cardiff until the chairmen pulled the plug. Has cliques and favouriites, usually the ones who like a drink and a game of cards. On the eve of a very important game last season he was in the hotel boozing with three senior pro's until 3.30am. Also fell out with Hulse and never rated him. Positives. To be honest I'm trying to be objective but I find it very hard as I detested the man for the lack of proffessionalim and rubbish he brought to our football club. But he transfer record was OK, he brought some good players Kamara, Mcshane, Davies but for every good one their was a bad one. He left us with a very unbalanced squad, but with some talented footballers be it with some very poor attitudes. I always had a soft spot for Sheff United dont know why, just one of those teams you look out for I suppose, even ater the infamous battle of Bramell Lane and I was rooting for you this season. I just think Robson is truly awful, mark my words HE WILL RUIN you Ha ha cant't believe Robson has been appointed, the man has had more teams relegated, he is as inspirational as a dialing tone and he could bore holes in rocks. Even with money he mananged to ruin Middlesborough. I feel sorry for united fans, from one prat (Warnock) to an even bigger prat (Robson)....I'd say Wednesday fans think all their Christmases have come together.... When he took over at West Brom I think you can quote Robson as saying 'I have nothing to prove as a manager', implying he had already showed his credentials.... Middlesborough - Relegated Bradford - Relegated West Brom - Relegated Does he still think he has got nothnig to prove? In my opinion it is an awful choice as I have no confidence in Bryan Robson the manager. He is still to justify himself in the role. But when you put him on a shortlist of Peter Reid and Dave Bassett - if I was a Sheff Utd fan I dont know who I would have wanted. I think Chris Coleman would be the best chocie for any Championship club at the moment... Robson's record as a manager is P423 W153 L145 - that means in a 46 match season he averages 63 points, which last season would have meant 14th in the Championship. Statistics don't lie. | |

While I agree with some of the concerns, this was interesting: "Robson's record as a manager is P423 W153 L145 - that means in a 46 match season he averages 63 points, which last season would have meant 14th in the Championship. Statistics don't lie." They do lie when you consider a lot of those results were in the premiership. | |
