Southgate is talking of "Balancing the books" and the need to sell before we can buy. So what exactly is the £50 million TV money going to be used for? Surely our wage bill isn`t that much? | |

£50 million is it? That figure seems to be different depending on who you ask. Is it really £10 million extra? Or £20 million extra? I don't know, but where can you get an exact breakdown of tv money that we currently get compared to what we will get at the end of next season? | |

Because Gibbo, Lamb and the boys are going on a jolly boys' outing this summer and they need some spends. Would you deprive them that for the sake of a few new players? I know I wouldn't. | |

I thought us losing about ten players, a highly paid manager on a long contract and a first team coach since this time last season would have helped to reduce the wage bill markedly and have enabled us to spend a fair amount of money this summer. Apparently this doesn't appear to be the case. I actually think the club's in a worse state financially than we all think. | |

The team that finishes bottom of the table will get £30 million, the team that finishes top will get £50 million, if we finish in the same position [as this season] we'd get about £40 million There never was any money, we have never spent money outside of TV deals, Gibson doesn't put money in, the club runs on it's own income...maybe next year when we have the money in the bank they will spend some of it until then the wallet is well and truly put away Get used to it or sod off and support Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle, Pompey, West Ham, Villa who will all spend more than us this summer | |

Bout time the fans were given information, ie where the club are heading instead of sitting on their arses waiting for st renewals to flood in. Fans are becoming disillusioned at the lack of communication. | |

Do you honestly expect to club to come out and say "Hey, look at us we have millions and millions to spend on any player we see fit". Agents and clubs would have a field day literally at our expense. | |

if you all think logically, you dont get any of that increase in money till the end of next season, what gibson is doing is not spending any money we dont have. Most clubs are loaning the money against next seasons pay check. Which is not sensible... Think of the interest on 20 million over a year!!!! and then having to go out and spend more money at the end of next season once again another loan.. We have some money if we were going to pay 4.5m for a scottish midfielder, | |

The club are doing the right thing saying we have to sell before we buy, imagine they came out and said we have £30million to spend, all of a sudden a players value goes from £4m to £7million, when we enquire | |

Dont forget than transfer fess are normally spead over a coule/few years. I bet we are still paying for the Yak, and we have splashed some cash on Woodgate. I also think its common business sense to say there isnt any money to try and keep transfer fees down, pretty clever imo. | |

i we dont spend we will fall further behind other clubs, we need to spend if we dont were destined for championship football eventually. We are going to lose parnaby, mendi, graham, christie all off the wage bill, probs lose viduka. so theres a big chunk plus we will of been compensated for mcclaren and got tv money. 7m for woodgate now seems alot if we cant spend anymore when centre back wasnt a critial position to fill. | |

Perhaps the club are being shrewd, but the rest of the footballing World know that the Premiership is the richest league in the world, so who are they really kidding? Some of our not so bright supporters perhaps? The key is to get some players in early, that's what we all need, some players to give us a feeling of optimism that we haven't really had since the summer Mendieta and Viduka and Hasselbaink joined. | |

couldnt the reason they have no money to spend have something to do with the "HOTEL" at hurwoth? i wouldnt like to think it was and thats a seperate matter, but how come they have £50,000,000 to spend on a HOTEL and not on the TEAM????? now theres a debate!!! | |

Southgate will get you a new forward and a midfielder, but they will be average players no one else wants. It may be time to look closer to home. All I read on your board is 'I'm dissapointed' 'The club should tell us' 'We should spend, spend, spend' ! In reality you have done well to be where you are. Your Chairman has backed all managers but now there seems to be a lull in the finances. Maybe it has something to do with so many empty seats.........Fans not paying the money to help the club! | |

Specky and skiprat - spot on. Why are the majority of boro fans so fooking pessimistic? If its not where viduka's going, or why we haven't signed 374 players a week into the transfer window, its assuming the club is a sinking ship. Sort it out ffs. | |
