re: War on Democracy - Pilger's 1st Cinema do

While having a lot of time for Jon Pilinger, the revelations that Chavez is now acting like a dictator himself, closing down independent media etc, will tarnish it just a fraction.

re: War on Democracy - Pilger's 1st Cinema do

The "independent media" that Chavez closed down were heavily involved in organising a coup that cost many lives. Television companies shouldn't really do that kind of thing.

I like that term, 'independent media'.

No doubt his number one fan Jonathan Dimbleby will first in the queue for tickets.

Possibly but when people such as Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and Reporters Without Borders, think it's a bad idea then there might be a case to answer.

We could do with a few licences revoking over here. How about ITV, Channel 5 and Sky to kick off with. I'd love to see the quality of human at the demo for that.

Oh yes, and some of our 'independent' newspapers too.

re: War on Democracy - Pilger's 1st Cinema do

Presumably the irony isn't lost on Pilger that if he lived in his beloved, brave Bolivarian democracy in Venezuala, he probably wouldn't be able to make an equivalent film. Knowing him and his work though, it probably is.

What poverty we must be in when we have Pilgers for heroes.

Hey as long as we dont live in Venezuela we dont really care anyway though do we so long as we can make our point.

Whatever you think of the US I'd still rather live there than in Venezuala.

Where does all that oil money go?

Mox, Google a little bit more before you make such a spectacularly ill informed statement.

You might want to start on East Timor and the risks Pilger took to make the Death of a Nation film.

re: War on Democracy - Pilger's 1st Cinema do

So if he cares so much about East Timor presumably he is eternally grateful for the UN/ANZAC "foreign imperialist venture" (intervention when translated from doublespeak) that made Timor free.

Or is he a fckukin hypocrite? He doesn't care a jot about intervention, or principles, just the next buck.

He is a charlatan. Unlike Chomsky, who is superb and consistent. I'd read him on anything. But Pilger? Christ, have things got that bad!? Have a fcu kin word.

I dug out Fahrenheit 9/11 again the other week and couldn't believe how bad it actually was. The scene of Iraqi kids flying kites before the invasion would win 'Best Propaganda moment' at the North Korean Oscars.

Having said all that, from the snippets and reviews of his latest film, I totally agree with its premise - the state of health care in America truly is sickening.

This tells me Moore should get back to what he does best - campaigning for the little guy and sticking it to the man, rather than offering his services as foreign policy advisor.

Mox was saying worse things about Chomsky not so long ago. So don't be surprised if he's Pilger's biggest fan this time next year.

I very much doubt that, Mr Galloway. I trust you're keenly watching Big Brother 8 because one of your mob is in there?

re: War on Democracy - Pilger's 1st Cinema do

I haven't got a clue what you talking about, but to even suggest that I'd be watching Big Brother is truly unconscionable.

So you disagree with the Respect party sending its members (and its leader) into the house then? How interesting, perhaps you're not the apparatchik I had you down as.
