re: Jack White

would love to see them live in a little gig venue think it would possibly be the best thing I'd ever see.

good on the large stage when I've seen them but in a 500 max capacity venue I think it would be very special in deed.

unfortunately very very unlikely to happen.

I saw them a few years ago in the Wulfrun Hall in Wolverhampton.

Quite small, for anyone who's been.

And I didn't have to pay.

re: Jack White

I didn't realise his missus is from Oldham. She says "ecky thump" round the house but he thought she was saying "icky thump" and he just stuck with it.

The ones on channel 4.

Nice women mind.

re: Jack White

You're wrong, Ste. Fairly sure JW was never mistaken about the phrase.

"The White Stripes have completed the recording and mixing of their sixth album. It is entitled Icky Thump, and is their first album to include a title track, which curiously (and not ironically) has the same words in it's [sic] name. Though some residents of northern England might almost recognize the title, the Stripes stress they are spelling it wrong intentionally just for "kicks" and "metaphors"."

"The name of the track comes from the Northern England exclamation, "Ecky Thump." The title was then changed to "Icky" so that "teenagers would understand it better" back in America, "in the same way Led Zeppelin took out the 'a' so kids wouldn't called them 'Lead Zeppelin'" (pronounced 'leed')"

That's not what he said in his interview i've just watched.....

re: Jack White

I heard him say the bit in the second paragraph on Jools Holland a few weeks ago :/

Weird. Is Jack White a massive liar?

Boro_HP Posted on 15/6 1:11
re: Jack White

Well seeing as though he refers to Meg White as his big sister, and had a lot of people believing it... I'd say he was into his lies.

(For those who don't know, she is his ex wife)

re: Jack White

Good point that. The big lying musical genius.

ste_north_stand Posted on 15/6 1:14
re: Jack White

That story has been around forever. Why would he say she's his sister if she's his ex wife? I'm sure plenty of people would have known them when they were married and would go to the press with it. It makes no sense.

re: Jack White

Alledgedly he still says it... at the gig he did for the Chelsea Pensioners in the Royal Hospital yesterday, he thanked them for letting him and his big sister play for them.

Yeah in that interview he mentioned her as his big sister. Don't see the point lying about it that's all.

re: Jack White

I know you can't trust Wiki, but here it is.

Since the beginning of The White Stripes, Jack and Meg assured fans that they were siblings. It was eventually revealed that they were actually married and had divorced prior to starting the band. Meg is, by her own admission, "very shy" and gives few interviews. When the band is interviewed, she will often contribute little or nothing, while Jack will do much of the talking. In her time away from the band Meg enjoys photography and amateur taxidermy. She has a few taxidermy examples including a white mouse, unlike Jack who is a fellow enthusiast and who has many examples.[citation needed] Animals are also something of a motif in Meg's photography (mainly album covers and music videos). Among those photographed with her are a snake, rats (the video for Hotel Yorba and the back cover of Elephant), a cow, rabbits, and raccoons (the 7 inch cover of the Denial Twist single). She guards her privacy in a manner that she identifies with Bob Dylan, whom she admires.

re: Jack White

I am pretty sure they still stand by the fact that they are brother and sister. There has been millions of rumours over the years, and non of them proved. I think the x husband wife thing is one of those rumours which has just managed to stick somehow.

Re: song titles and lyrics, Jack does have a habbit of changing his story from time to time. Think he said in one interview (on radio 1 with jo whiley a while ago) that, interviews and promo's bore him that much he tries to mix it up and tell different people different things. The libertines were another band who's stories would change interview from interview.
